  • Rasgado vs Krupp in a match of contrasting styles. Rasgado (as a younger man), formerly on the Brazilian Davis Cup team. Held at the stunningly beautiful Innisbrook Resort, one of the very few senior competitions in Florida this winter. Filmed with a QM-1 "Quick Mount" Camera Mount from www.MyTennisTools.com. (By the way, my favorite point starts at 16:02)

Great match. Rasgado just made a fan out of me. Thanks for posting. I’m 24 years old but have dealt with a host of health issues as of late so I have been watching/emulating a lot of senior tennis. Smooth and smart strokes is my new mission.

Oh yeah! I love to watch him play. He's deceptively quick also and cover a lot of court. Not sure how I'd play him! I have another match of his in the "can" that I hope to put up soon.

@@10smike also one suggestion for future videos. If at all possible ask for which racquet each player uses if that’s at all possible and add it to the videos description. It would satisfy a bunch of viewers curiosity I’m sure! Looking forward to that other video you mentioned whenever that comes out! Great work and thanks for the reply.

Rosgado unreal. Bizarre off wall strokes(except slice backhand) and yet he hardly ever misses! Not sure how he is so consistent with those strokes but he is. Sure he a nightmare to play against.

The tennis player versus the athlete. A classic confrontation. Beautiful play on the part of Rasgado. People will never play this way again.

Yep, it's an old school kind of game. And Rasgado is mentally so, so tough! I got to see him play in Naples this year and man, he is a never-say-die kind of guy! Surprisingly quick and strong.

Interesting match! It seems Rasgado is always off-balanced hitting and just glides the ball. Yet, he dominated the entire match! He's just really good at moving the ball around.

Yes, and he never seemed to get too excited did he?

I played in the 80's, and even though Joe was a lot older than me and we never played, he played and beat a lot of my peers. He was always the top guy in the 35 and older division. Very smooth and relaxed, nice to see him on the court.

He's a great guy on and off the court. Very gentlemanly.

Love rasgado style. Handled the speed and kept putting balls in play

Joe (Joaquim) Rasgado plays tennis occasionally with some of the people I hit with in NC during the summer. We met once and he seems like a very nice guy. I am told that he places the ball with great accuracy and clearly he has no trouble covering the court! Hopefully we'll hit some time!

I agree - talked to him briefly and he really was very personable and I'd love to play him some day. I tend to look at a match like this and think I could take him, but I know that once you are on the court and he has you running around, it's a whole new ball game!

Rasgado has amazing leg 🦵 speed! I’m playing tennis at 61 with lots of lower body injuries! Truly special animal

Rasgado has great hands... if he can touch the ball, he's going to get it back. And if he gets a good look, he's going to slice it to an awkward place. Really great anticipation, too. He hardly ever ran -- he's always magically where the ball is going to be. He was running in for Krupp's drop volley well before the ball even got to the net. It would have been interesting to see what he would do had Krupp tried some dropshot/lob plays -- Krupp might have been able to get more mileage out of what appears to be a strength/stamina advantage.

Thanks Mike for posting. Krupp lost because he was holding the racket in the wrong hand... The long pants guy was hardly moving standing mostly in the no-man-land, but he was very relaxed (probably had a few drinks before the match), that made all the difference... Krupp was very tight because of the above-mentioned wrong hand... Just kidding... I know it's 65+, but How old are these men?

Rasgado is just a lousy tennis player, except, you know, he's great. It was like he had mind control over the ball.

Rasgado just made the finals at level two nationals at Long Boat Key! He ain’t beating Mark Vines or Glenn Busby but he still needs to be applauded for a solid forehand and excellent conditioning! His weak backhand would get exploited by righty Glen Busby who is on another level! Anyone can watch Busby on UA-cam! Monster, monster forehand and solid all around game! If healthy, I can compete with all of them! A big if!
