Thank you! Yes I was away from this tree for about a week and a half and I thought for sure I killed it, but i watered it well and had patience and I was so happy it came back! The camera is still going today, I’ll have to make an updated video soon!
How did you make it grow so many side branches in spring after all the leafs dried out? Stop watering for a while? I had to stay at the hospital for a few weeks and when I came back my family had barely watered my bonsai so almost all of it's branches died 😢 only three are left and they recovered nicely but the rest probably needs to be cut off. I'm only hasitant to do it because it will leave the trunk so naked. Or will it grow new branches from the trunk in spring on it's own? Your's looks so beautiful by the end.
Thank you! So I think patience and daily watering brought the leaves back on this elm. I was concerned because it took awhile to see new growth, but I knew it wasn’t completely dead because the truck hadn’t dried out and was still flexible. What type of bonsai tree is your tree? My instinct tells me that you may want to leave the old branches on for a while. It’s like they say, sometimes time heals wounds!
It's a ficus retusa and used to be so beautiful. My family did me so dirty 😩 I'll leave a few of the dry branches alone and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time
@@veve7349 I don’t have a ficus retusa, but I have a ficus benjamina and that one tends to grow like a weed, especially when it gets plenty of sun and water. But yeah I’d say leave it for 3-6 months and see what happens.
That was fun. Neat video!
Thank you!
Well done Dave ! After the die back an explosion of new growth. Fantastic

What was your setup for capturing the Timelapse?
It is a GoPro 3 taking a photo once every 60 seconds. It’s still going today! I’ll have to make updated video soon.
