I had issues with my Ghost as well. Customer service was okay, but, I find you're better off buying from amazon because rather than charge you the restocking fee that direct action does you can at least get a credit for the full amount. The seams busted after a couple of weeks on my ghost, but my 5 year plus maxpedition still looked new. I caught a ton of flak from the community for criticism of the bag. people are nuts.
would you take the Rush 12 over the Dragon Egg? i think the Rush 12 is 24L and i saw that the Yoke system feels good.. but some people complain abt it being uncomfortable after like 20 mins.
@@rjhisle1973 I got the Dragon Egg n gave it away lol! its good and comfy but.. the main compartment so so small.. like only 21L ... n i fought for space organization when i traveled.. i now use a Helikon Ratel MK2 25L expandable to 33L ... its GREAT! I had the Rush 24 and sold it, terrible padding and shoulder straps, painful for a few days after. So now I'm going to Direct Action or Kelty... no more 5.11 thank you...
You mentioned that you did PRT with the rush 12 with your unit. What branch were you with and when did that branch start doing PRT over 21-20? I preferred 21-20 myself but oh well, things are always changing. Now that I'm out I just go to the gym and do whatever the hell I want as long as I stick to the schedule.
I think it's worth waiting for, but I've got something new that might interest you and it's much cheaper than the Ghost. Stay tuned this week so I can get a video on that for you.
I don't have the Dust so I can't provide an expert opinion on it, but for me the the Dust is too small. I like the overall design, but it's the same size as the Maxpedition Kodiak, which I used to have. It was a nice design, but very small. So you can figure with the Dust if you insert a computer, a water bottle and a jacket it's probably already full. On the other and it does come with the zippered stack pocket which is missing from the Dragon Egg, and it has detachable helmet holder. I hope that helps.
@@starfox-germany You probably had a 1 in a million...I've used many 5.11 Products, they are decent but always fail....I had went through 2 before I got the dragon egg. Still have it works great, ridiculously durable and easy to get to everything. Again 5.11 does make some ok stuff. Thanks for the Comment :-) have a good one always stay ready.
could you maybe put the rush 24 next to the ghost so i could see how different in size they are? i have held a rush 24 but never seen the ghost in the stores
Maxpedition's smaller packs (day packs) are poorly thought out though. They are okay for packing items that don't have much bulk or thickness. You would have to get one of their much larger packs to be able to carry items you can carry in smaller packs like the rush 12 and dragon egg. Maxpedition definitely has the better build quality, just wish they were more practical.
Hi there. I am in doubt whether to take the rush 24 sandstone v1.0 or the dragon egg mark II. I like the ventilation of the dragon better than the rush among other things but the load capacity is better in the rush. I guess the dragon is very tactical vs rush 24 (although it is used by many military men). See if you can help. Thank you.
Well think of it this way. The Dragon Egg is a little more comfortable and better looking (lots of people will comment on it)but the RUSH is cheaper and more practical design. That said I personally still use my Rush 12 as a get home bag/scouting Ng bag for quick adventures.
@@rjhisle1973 okay. I must say that I have the rush 12 v1.0 black and I like it a lot (except for the back ventilation as I said). I use 12 for work. now I'm between going for rush 24 or dragon egg and I think I'll go for the dragon. my use would be trekking, ravines, via ferratas and little else. for intensive aerobic use I would use my 30l quechua. therefore, the rush is not designed for aerobic use (especially in hot weather like where I live, Alicante, Spain).
@@AngelikuS_ If you are going to do aerobic activity go with the Dragon Egg. The built in belt and superior ventilation will make it worth it. The Rush 24 and by extension the series are more like gear bags. They are great at holding stuff but not necessarily best choice for hiking or other vigorous work. On the other hand if 5.11 would just improve the ventilation and support a little they would have a solid winner.
@@rjhisle1973 I hope and wish that the v3.0 of the rush series has improved back ventilation (as direct action would be great). finally I have also the rush 24 v1.0 sandstone. I will use my 30l Quechua backpack for the aforementioned activities. For everything else I will use my rush 12 and 24. Greetings.
I can send you pictures of a 13" MacBook Pro inside a Rush 12. I can fit either my retina or fatboy MacBook Pro 13" in it no problem. If you lie the bag down on it's front and put a computer over it you will see it has the proper dimensions to fit your system. I even have a 2" piece of foam stuffed in the bottom of the bladder pouch to prevent my computer from slamming into the ground when I put it down. I agree with the waist belt. Wish it was more compatible :(
I know the main body can hold the MacBook pro 13' fairly easily. It's the bladder section I can't get to work. Let me test it again. I'll update this video later this week if I can get it to work. Thanks fro your comment.
Yeah I was talking about the water bladder. When you put your computer in the back, have the backpack standing up straight, slide it in and then when you zip it up you have to make sure the zippers come over the corner of the computer. Regardless it was a great video. I love this bag a lot too :)
I do not agree. usage depends. The rush series is not designed for aerobic use or where the temperature is high. Try using it on a T-shirt and at 30 degrees Celsius. your back will be a cataract.

Dragon Egg has the best ventilation system of all backpacks.
No it doesn't. There are many backpacks that use mesh for a back panel like Deuter. That have more air flow.
@@spicecrop Agreed. Osprey also.
Thanks for the video. One caveat, SWAT do wear plate carriers as well.
Wow... best analysis ever. Thank you

For comfort go with the Dragon Egg. I think it is more comfortable than the RUISH 12 overall.

how do you completely overlook the small pocket on the dragon egg? you're moving your hand over it while opining the lack of a pocket...
Super recenze.👍 Děkuji za video.👍
For urban survival daily commute, please advice between Rush 12 and Maxpedition Riftcore. Many thanks.
According to Direct Action that handle has been tested up to 50kg
no matter how expensive the pack the built in waterbottle pouch is horrible id rather spend 20 bucks and attach a good one by molle....jmho
Well done sir. I have the dragonegg mkII and i agree with every point
BTW the Dragon Egg MK II has been released. It's a small upgrade.

I went with the Caribee Combat 32L daypack.
I just got a Rush 12 and a 24 for $160 total. Pretty good deal.
That is pretty good. Where did you get them from?
rjhisle1973 511's website, was about to buy a 12 for $90 but found a 30% coupon off entire order so I decided to get a 12 and 24 😀
Sweet!
And the plate carrier is generally over the soft armor
The fact that the egg can’t even stand upright on its own is enough for me to go for the rush 12
Nice review bro. It's the 5.11 though, not the 501
Dragon egg hands down x2 on sunday. Much more durable, better quality all the way around. I’ve used both.. Dragon egg just better
I have both and the 5.11 is better, but the Dragon Egg feels like it should be the better one.

Sure in fact I should be able to do a quick video on that by tomorrow. However I can tell you that the RUSH is bigger. It's 34 Liters vs 31.5 liters.

Archie Draco Overall maybe the RUSH 12 for it’s much more practical design.
What kind of water bottle was that?
A Klean Kanteen 40oz Water Bottle. My favorite water bottle.

Dragon egg is of better quality over the 5.11 imo.
Maxpedition and camelbak makes the best tactical backpacks but you pay way more. .
