You shod totally check the documentary tv series "Gunpower of Joseon" - its very entertaining 👌❤
Cho son😂 I like it!
Congrats on the retirement! Another great video, keep up the great content Robert!

The gunslinger has similar issues with this one, being that they both have the full main compartment front zip and bucket that connects from the bottom with long straps up to the lid. Three things I would suggest. 1. Make sure that the lid straps closest to your back are as tight as they can be if your pack is not full. it’s meant to be a floating lid (as well as a Fanny) for potentially stuffing your pack full, even using the additional space in the weather guard. 2. If you do not have a full pack, you should be stacking the items in the main pocket vertically, as close to your back as possible and cinching down the sides of the pack to compress closer to your back. This will aid in keeping the lid from going down the front of your pack, as it needs even a little bulk toward the top to sit on. 3. There are 3 additional loops on the exterior of the bag, either side of the front zip pocket. If you take advantage of those with additional straps, it will help keep the long straps from the bucket close to the bag, allowing you to put a reasonably sized bag at the bottom of the pack. The loops are more likely built into the pack for running a shock cord ladder through, but having atleast 1 strap crossing the bottom of the pack horizontally would suck in the straps and prevent whatever you put down there from crawling up the bag or flimsily hanging there. The Modular sleep system that you showed is A.) heavy and inferior to other systems. B.) doesn’t look properly packed. C.) if you would like to keep that big heavy system, you should replace the stuff sack it comes with to a stuff sack that has compression straps that go up to the top of the compression sack, not just the sides. And D.) this system due to its bulk should be inside the main compartment of the bag, at the bottom of the pack. I do feel like you would be better served dividing the system into atleast two parts, where one sleeping bag is nested in the bivy and then rolled up tightly into a small compression bag, which you could then put on the outside on the bottom of the Tomahawk, and the second sleeping bag, put into a dry bag and compressed by hand before rolling the dry bag top to close it up. This would go in the main pocket of the Tomahawk at the bottom. I’m not trying to be snoody or hyper critical here. I’m just not so sure that it’s being used to it’s full potential. I will agree that the way they set up the rain cover is less than ideal. And the long straps from the bucket to the lid/undivided main pocket is not great. They fixed this with packs like the Operator, that has a divider, moving the point by which the lid straps pull on to the center of the bag, instead of the flimsy bucket at the bottom, while maintaining a large main pocket that can be divided or undivided. I am of the opinion that the laser cut Molle integrated bucket/beaver tail serves zero practical purpose. It would have been much better to provide a solid piece cordura with two sets of micro pals webbing (toward the front and back) for using shock cord to strap something lightweight or let wet socks dry, etc. Everything heavy you might put on the bottom of the pack, you would just use the bucket, as in between the pack and the bucket, so why have the molle on it? Anyhow, thanks for the video. I’ve never really thought out of all the Eberlestock packs they offer, that the Tomahawk was one that anyone would feel was fully thought out. Like you said, good ideas, but lacking in some important areas. I feel the same way about the Gunslinger II. Time to retire that thing and make the Gunslinger III for some of the same reasons as the Tomahawk.
Just now found your channel for the first time and of course it's your retirement video!😂 I'll be looking through your previous videos and I just subscribed to see your new stuff. I appreciate good gear and good gear videos. I'm a civilian but I've picked up quite a bit of milsurp for camping and hiking with my son. We always enjoy learning from the experience of folks like yourself. Keep it up!👍
Well Thank You!
You sound like drake
Congratulations on your retirement! Thanks for making time to show us this stuff. Hope you'll keep posting videos.
Thanks, and I'll keep posting.
It looks ideal for NON military load out. Grunts don’t have a choice of what gear they HAVE TO carry. I do. That pack looks very durable and practical. If it isn’t loaded down with eeaponry and blammo and other heavy items then the weight of the pack itself is really not an issue. Not super comfortable but it it is practical with potential. Great presentation Soldiers. Thanks for your service.
Thanks for the explanation and comparison, I bought a smaller ACU of the patrol pack (yours & other videos for understanding) for less to carry on my back while biking!
Natural selection.
Hey I got the original one I put money down on a shotgun when I was a kid and I took forever to get there he sold it anyway I bought this because it was cheap I took it to the range everybody shooting I had Target 35 yards out I thought I was missing and this when I first bought it didn't even know how to shoot it so I started aiming at the little metal pole that was like a 2 in wide that held up the targets I could hear bullets hitting it like five times in a row and a guy started yelling anyway it's a really accurate gun 5000 rounds never had a misfire never cleaned it still waiting for that malfunction rock and roll
Does this tent have doors on both sides?
@@CampMymy yes
What’s the name of the pack you use as an example? I could not catch the name and the transcript did not capture it. Great video
Found it: Eberlestock Packs
@@WickedgameC175 Glad you found it.
Gonna be great all the way from norcal to Alaska. Invisible in the brush
My bag looks different. I think they made some improvements with the rear padding and my bar opens easy.
“Smooth” zippers are not always great. When they are “rough” like that they don’t come undone easily. Also,it’s a good idea to wax your zippers every so often. Sounds like you need a sling bag, my guy.
@rjhisle1973. With the molle webbing on the bottom of that pack, yes you can attach the waist pack to it.The waist pack has to molle loop straps on it.
@Robert Hisle's Channel. Good day to you.Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your older and new ruck and outdoor equipment vids. Also am enjoying these vids. Some guy on one of your older vids in the comments stated you died years ago to another commentor so I don't know why.Am happy your doing well, will continue to enjoy your uploads ATB to you and yours.
Thanks for the kind words. Just so you know there will be more reviews, especially military gear reviews. But first I must test it out before sharing with everyone.
배트맨 차죠?! 네…
would you take the Rush 12 over the Dragon Egg? i think the Rush 12 is 24L and i saw that the Yoke system feels good.. but some people complain abt it being uncomfortable after like 20 mins.
For comfort go with the Dragon Egg. I think it is more comfortable than the RUISH 12 overall.
It came with the window awning? For that back left window.
yes it did.
I plan on doing a review of the SUV side Window Canopy. However, this was a just a test so I didn't use the second canopy. But you do get two canopies with your order.
@@rjhisle1973Klymit is saying they don’t come with the tw window awnings. Where they just wrapped up with the tent? I couldn’t find mine in my annex.
@@rjhisle1973 sorry for bothering you dude.
@@rjhisle1973 they sure know you over there at that company they watched your video and told me basically that you’re lying that you bought them separately. It’s crazy because you’re sitting here promoting their product. What agenda would you have for making it up? So yeah they told me that your incorrect and You bought them separately. I personally might be done with them at this point. Took days to get a hold of them. One of the operators treated me absolutely horrible. If I buy the awnings now, I’ll just be into it the same amount as you with that tent but for the annex. Plus, I’m gonna have to pay for shipping. Anyway, just want to say thanks for the review. This was the only thing I even had to find out information of the product. Probably have 30 products made by this company.
I was there 75. if change alot!
Yes it has. I' was shocked at the changes I saw. I wonder what it looks like now.
Couple thoughts, with all respect meant in the world... 1. I don't believe that bed roll needs to ride on the outside of the pack. It's visibly obvious the pack isn't packed full enough to need to lash it to the outside, so that should be packed inside to fill out the pack; if moisture is a concern, dry bags are great for creating those internal separations, when needs be. Plus, it's always good to try to keep the exterior of a pack like this slick and free of extra stuff, which can snag on brush, fall off accidentally, etc... 2. Right pack for the right job. A 65L pack is overkill for an overnight camping / backpacking trip, unless you are trying to be *very* comfortable, in which case, again, you'd want to pack that thing full to fill out the pack and really utilize that 65L of space. :)
Knowing how to properly set up and pack this military rucksack is key, I considered this backpack to be among the most comfortable options. While some may find the ACU pattern unattractive, I personally appreciate its color and design. I agree very much at 17:34.
Ratnik all the way. The USGI assault pack is good, but I am completely bias at this point because I have always preferred bucket style top loading packs/rucks. The two things everyone has these days on pretty much every pack out there is zippers and velcro.. the two things that won't last for nearly as much time, if it fails good luck replacing it. All your contents fall out at the worst times exc exc. Velcro may be fast, but it's loud, and it fails in pretty much most environments if exposed to long to the elements. It fails if it gets to much snow in it, it fails if it gets to much sand in it.. hell it fails if It is just used to much... velcro is crap.. literally the only thing you get with the USGI assault pack is organization and slightly faster access.. Seriously though.. its called "pack your most important shit that you use regularly on the top or on the side pouches, and put the stuff you don't need except for certain times on the bottom.. SIMPLE. Don't be lazy, plan out how you pack things and use your brain, not if it's convenient or not. Convenience kills just about everyone in the long run.
The design is obviously copied to Direct Action Dragon Egg. The quality is apparently inferior to the DA's dragon egg.
Yes it is. I found this online and thought it would be fun to try out, but obviously not as good as the real thing.
ROK soldiers had a part in our Vietnam War.
Yes they did. It's often overlooked but they were considered ferocious fighters.
I was stationed at Camp Walker in 1978. I was an MP and worked Gate 4 and patrolled The Ville many times. Not a single building or business did I recognize in your video. I had a great time there and have many fond memories of the people, culture and the food. Thanks for showing me around.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I have both packs. The Russian pack fits a bit tighter on me (I'm a big guy.) and the buckles are pretty flimsy compared to the Armies assault pack. I removed the buckles on the Russian pack and replaced them with sturdier buckles. The Army pack fits great. It's has more storage than the Russian one. The straps on the Army pack are not great but our forefathers had a lot less to work with. They just sucked it up, and kept pushing. The ACU color stinks, but its nothing a dye bath can't fix.
Reminds me of the Smokies.
Thanks
Looks so peaceful!!! 0:45
It only holds your sleeping bag.
Hello, you seem quite knowledgable about this, but would you know any store that would sell current issue korean gear? like helmets and vests
I just picked up a full large ruck with frame and straps for 30$ in perfect condition. Then an hour later I found the assault pack on marketplace for 25$. So 55$ I got the complete system. I also ordered some sustainment and canteens, waist pack and the camelback. Hoping to do some hiking this year here in the Texas hill country.
That sounds like an awesome deal. Enjoy.
Found mine at a Showmasters Gun Show in 2024. $250 and got a Bushnell Scope, sling, and two mags.
I bought two of those packs. They were pricey last year, but I spend extra to get practically brand new packs. UCP doesn't bother me because I dye it, and if that doesn't satisfy me, I'll spray paint...either way, problem solved. It's very easy to setup the pack once you view the instructions. They do make it pretty easy for army folks to assemble their gear. PS: I love how you throw your gear nonchalantly on the floor.
I have a Chinese copy. It is great. Thanks for the review. Cheers 🍻
I don't care who the camp is actually named after, I'll always think of john Inman "OH! It's all coming out now, isn't it?!"
Ha ha! I don't think many Americans will understand that joke. I do cause I did not have cable tv, and watched brit comedys on PBS. I did do army time. But I was never in Korea. Ha ha! Are you being served?
