So crazy to think of Buffalo this far east in the country. I wondered why they camped for the night by a Buffalo crossing because…Buffalo crossing?!!! Hello. Very interesting journal!

Sweet Sophie, 😊. How interesting about the deer and turkeys! I had a pair of deer staring at my garden yesterday! I assumed they were always around. We are starting to get black bears here in Middle TN again. We have had some American alligators in Memphis, too! I sincerely hope the "painters" (mountain lions) don't make a resurgence. I love cats, but...

We have all kinds of white-tailed deer here in Western NY State (about 15 minutes west of Genesee Country Museum). Always have to be careful on the roads, especially at night and early morning. Used to have wild turkeys but not as prevalent today although they are still here. Black bears are moving in and coyotes have reestablished themselves. You never know what's going to make itself at home at any time. I was tickled about parakeets flying around out in the wild, Great reading, Jon. Very interesting to "see" how they lived in the time period.

This sounds impressive. I wish there was a visual of some of these events with the Buffalo 🦬. That is crazy hearing about Buffalo cracking a boat around 14 feet. That is massive.

I would LOVE to see some wild buffalo this far East! Of course, it would also be vastly inconvenient. But still.

We have a guy here in Kentucky that raised them. Couldn't imagine getting them loose.

In Australia we still hunt with dogs. My deer/duck dog comes with me everywhere.

There is definitely people who still hunt here too in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina as well as other states. But now it is for particular seasons of the year.

Man, as a native Kentuckian I don't know some of these people made it through these woods. Some of the hills in eastern Kentucky where my forefathers settled after the revolutionary war are thick as heck.

    Carolina parakeets are now extinct.

My friend, Paladin Cheng, would say, "UA-cam is asshoe!"
