- Brenden Schaeffer discusses the postponed game from Friday May 24, 2024 between the Cardinals and Cubs.
Could this shift benefit the Cardinals in a major way competitively against their biggest rival? There's a case to be made that the answer is yes, and the reason comes from the two pitching decisions that have resulted from the postponement.

I thinking having an opportunity to play again Shota would have been a real good moment for us to prove this is real. Would have been great for Winn to be the one to put his ERA above 1 and put himself ahead in the rookie of the year race.
Not facing Shota just saves the Cardinals offense a lot of embarrassment.
Man sucks we couldn't hear joe buck do the game. I have been waiting all week. He, without a doubt, is one of my favorites.
You may be the only person in history to type that out
@garyrobinson5655 lol he gets a bad rap, imo but I do like him and his broadcasting
Nope I feel the same as acerob
Lol - what reason do people have to hate Joe Buck? He’s literally one of the most inoffensive voices on the air waves. He’s just a sports broadcaster 😂
Yes and it’s disappointing for the fans. Seeing Shota pitch would have been an absolute treat
It doesn't hurt my feelings at all that we don't have to face Imanaga. I'm still mad as hell that we didn't pick him up.
My expectation is that these two games, win or lose, will make the Cubs and their fans a lot less secure about how they view themselves in relation to us.
Get over it
@@roballen8431 Don't worry. I'm not actively angry, but I appreciate your concern.
Atleast split? Nooo wayy. We are sweeping this series. You are right, if we are winning despite Goldy contributing, lookout once he figures it out! Go Cards.
"Stephen Matz memorial 5th starter."
Good one. I'll be using that in the future.
Stinky Steve
Gray could have pitched Saturday, but I think they're managing this older staff to have longer rest.
I think it makes sense to take the rest when you can get it honestly. He's still scheduled for this series so not a major difference unless Sunday has rain. Do wish Sunday was a day game for that reason.
Not really. It just means the Cardinals will lose two games this weekend instead of three.
I'm not sure why you even watch, very negative my friend
I hate listening to national broadcasters talk about the cardinals smh
Who do you mean? Joe Bucks knows the Cardinals.
Tonight is Fox but the "national broadcaster" is.... Checks notes .. Adam wainwright lol
I think he will know the team pretty well
Obviously not Joe buck or wainwright. I meant those outside of the organization. They hate on the players
Sigh, wondering who makes these decisions. A sunny day. Perfect weather for a doubleheader. Also, good chance for rain Sunday. Sigh. And I disagree about the competitive advantage stuff. Use the players you have and wax the opponent. Cubs not using Imanaga is weak. And yea, I think we have more talent than the Cubs and Brewers. Nice to see it finally being shown. Spoke with an 82 year old ex-ballplayer. He dismayed that the Cardinals have lost their mojo, their swagger. Their obvious talent advantage. Me hoping they are rekindling it.
It's TV. Can't doubleheader with one game on Fox.
@@bschaeffer12 Ah yes. We live in a world where everything is $$$$$$$.
Players union has a say
Did you say Bud Light? HUMM?
Select! Brewed for the Lou!
They're still the cardinals with an opposite record to the cubs. Advantage? Ha!
Tied!
@@bschaeffer12 Well a dive by the cubs and a rally by the cards is great. Let's hope the cards can keep it up. But I am skeptical.
