This video was great and everything you said worked perfect. Only problem is you don't say how you torqued the bolt and prevented engine from spinning when tightening this bolt up. Thanks for the video as it saved so much time and headache.
I have a 2003 DeVille. There is scant room to replace the idler, tensioner and balancer. I am actually starting day three, however, I have installed The idler and tensioner. The problem I'm having with the balancer is I cannot get the subframe down far enough to slide the balancer off the crank. I had to use a grinding wheel yesterday to make room for my three jaw puller. It worked I am getting ready to take another quarter of an inch off and I'm hoping that the balancer will slide off the shaft and out. I'm wondering if my subframe is different from your model? I even went to all data and tried to drop the motor after loosening the mount and it still won't come down far enough. Any ideas besides the grinding wheel?
Since this is a transverse engine, are the front subframe bolts all on the passenger side? In other words, should we always assume that "front" is passenger side?

The inspiration I needed to finish my deville and not hammer the old balancer on it👍👍👍
Dude ur videos good ✊🏽 watched the alternator video, made it way easier for me to take on 🤙🏾
You have my caddilac vote will be talking to you tomorrow my bro
Antonio Martin just lmk, I’m glad to help
How do you know or determine that is bad? Thankx !!!
Jordan Bronson have someone start the car while your watching the balancer pulley from above. It should wobble and not spin perfectly even.
Ah.... OK THANK YOU !!!!
Mine wobbles and makes noise on my 2001 Eldorado with 48K miles. Need to tackle this job this weeknd. Thnx for the video
@@MrMedicAdnan what kind of noises?

Did you lower the subframe down? Also are you using the correct puller.. the swallow one..
You're using a puller with stubby ends. Where can I get one? I borrowed from Autozone the long-claw puller, which will not fit. Thanks
Mary Lamb I believe it was advance auto parts where I got that kit
When you say, "bump the key", do you mean turn the engine on and off quickly?
Pull the ignition fuse or relay so the motor won’t start… you don’t want the motor to start.. just a light bump of the key will break the bolt loose..
how long does it take to do this job
Damian Parra probably 1-2 hrs tops
So the other puller wont work?? I just rented the torque wrench, puller etc. But it is not the puller you used. It was the other puller in the case.
+Big Serb I don't think anything but the one I used will work unfortunately.. it's too tight
Appreciate it...
Great video!!!
What are all the parts that i need for this repair?
Basic hand tools and a shallow balancer puller, watch the video lol
@@ecanixgarage1106 i did watch it good video btw good instructions..I was just wondering what harmonic balancer u went?
@@Dman90 I honestly don’t remember, prob an advanced auto parts
Fyi if you over tighten the crank bolt you can lose oil pressure on this engine

Mary Lamb there is subframe bolts on both sides, I loosened the pax side bolts so that side of the motor would lower enough to get puller on balancer.
