Additional review notes:
This is the brand new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and even though it looks like one of the best phones from 2023, there are some major upgrades, and actually a couple downgrades. There are 4 things you need to know about this phone
1 - Flat Display
Still 120Hz, QHD+ dynamic amoled 2x display
Still 6.8”
Nearly identical in size and weight to last year
Four Colors + online exclusives
2- CAMERAS
12MP front facing like last year
12MP ultrawide like last year
200MP wide camera like last year
10MP 3x optical like last year
BUT the 10x optical was replaced with a 5x
This was 10x 10MP and is now 5x 50M = 12.5MP at 10x
3 - Samsung baked AI features into the phone, with 4 main ones that stood out to me
There is an AI button throughout the UI now
i) Circle to search
ii) Chat enhancement (translate, change tone, check spelling/grammar)
ii) Translation in calls, text, voice recordings, etc. For example, Voice recorder transcribes, separates by speaker, and adds to notes - easily translated to other languages
iii) AI summarizer, (also auto format, spell checker, and translation in Notes)
Specs -
Snapgradgon 8 Gen 3
Now all models have 12GB RAM and 256-1TB storage
Battery is still 5000mAh
Same 45W charging speed, same wireless charging 2.0, and reverse wireless charging
Now has WiFi 7 compared to last year’s 6E
Still Bluetooth 5.3
Still IP68 water resistant
4 - 7 years of security updates and 7 generations of OS updates

Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!! 👑🇯🇲🔥💥🌟⭐💯💎
Just pre-ordered the S24 Ultra in yellow. I can't wait to see it in person when it arrives
The Ultra Version with Black & Purple Colour is Certainly My Cup of Tea!!! Absolutely Super Upgrade than the Previous Generations!!! Magnificent 😃👍🏻
512gb starting point is pretty cool, I have a s20+ holding onto it because of the sd card. slightly easier for me to finally justify going for a 512gb model if it's the starting point. I wanna see the online exclusive orange color in real life
It's unfortunate though unsurprising that Samsung no longer offers the physical expandable storage. That and the headphone jack is why I'll keep my S10+ until it dies.
I'm in the same camp with an s20+ 128gb model, and I gotta say that as a power user who always keeps an sd card for additional storage, I was really disappointed tonsee them remove the feature. That said, I so often get corrupted photos on my sd card that honestly, I appreciate the advantages to integrated storage. I'm going for the 512gb option with the free upgrade from the 256gb
@marcusciantar3407 corruption issues might've been why they dropped support, I bet people were trying to record 8k video onto a low-quality SD card, they don't wanna be responsible for cheap SD cards failing
I accidentally dropped my s20+ for the last time and the screen is unresponsive. I preordered the s24 ultra and am excited for it
I think it is a worthy upgrade from S22 Ultra, can't wait to pre order mine
If you're getting a good deal, or just don't care about money, sure. But I'd say you're gonna be a little underwhelmed.
@@qelfan9711 what bout from s21plus, im waiting 24ultra mainly far angle shot like from concert
@SeanZraft if you need a camera apecifically, you're better off buying just that. A camera.
@eurosonly u cant bring camera into the venue
They've not changed much. They've settled, but it's a good thing with Samsung knowing the sweet spot. NOT much you CAN change with an already near perfect phone.
I think most of the hardware innovation is in the foldables. The AI feature overhaul on the 24 is actually more extensive than I explained in this video. I'll cover it more soon but there are tons of new features
S23 price was dumb last year (ufs 3.1 for 800 bucks) and is dumb again thus year (compared to S24+ for sure)
I hope after loosin a tonna market share Samsung will finally roll out a true flagship killer and FE phone after the S20FE this year to gain soma it back. Here's the formula: S24+ platform (plastic build np tho), 1080p display (preferably with high pwm and touch sampling rates), SD8g2/exynos 2400, S23FE cameras and 599 startin price. "Ur welcome, I'll take 30 percent."
@David-kl4kn as someone in the phone industry for over a decade, I can tell you that what you want and what they will do will never happen. The FE line is not supposed to he a flagship killer. It's a mid year market replacement. Designed to give people a cheap alternative to the current flagship, get the feel that it's a "new phone" not last years "old one", and allow them to repurpose old hardware. Additionally, pricing on phones has remained basically static for 5 years, despite inflation drastically increasing costs everywhere. The only surprise I have each year is when prices don't go up. An $800 galaxy s10e, to an $800 s24, really the s24 should be $900+
Since when did we settle for buying the same exact phone? S23 will get AI as well
@robcop2269 because there not changed much since the s22 ultra. Pay attention lol
Interested in how the exynos chip performs compared to snapdragon
I managed to pre order the Samsung Ultra 24 1 tb in blue during the unpacked event! :)
I did mess up the billing address but the bank called and I confirmed the transaction so it's all good! :)
Same haha also can't wait for it
Upgrading my s22 ultra to this. I really like the flat screen finally
Same.
It took them 10 years to stop using edge displays on their phones.
2014 was when the Note edge came out.
I'm sick of the countless screen protectors I've used for all of my Samsung phones with an edge display. I have an s23u and I'm strongly considering the upgrade just for the flat screen lol
I remember it just like it was yesterday. Hasn't aged well.
@@GonzCerv it's not completely flat, the viewable area is, but there's apparently still a curve on the bezels to the frame from the way reviewers make it seem, hopefully that's not the case..
Coming from the S23 ultra i dont see the upgrade. S23 ultra is perfect. All the AI and software will come very soon to the S23 ultra. If you have S22 ultra or older then it is an upgrade. Good persentation mike
Ill upgrade just for the flat screen. I hate the curved edges
What I wanted but not getting was a hidden selfie camera...My S22U breathes a sigh of relief
It makes the quality trash
Good review style. A video per device.
Pre ordered mine at a samsung store after the keynote they have in display played with it....getting mine in titaniumgrey...not a big upgrade from s23u....but a great powerful phone atleast here in canada comes with sdgen3 so taht 7 years of software promise is more reliable compared to pixels with tensor g3...the only down side for s24 ultra is its box design and not rounded corners they dig into your palm and hampers comfort...i felt it in 5 mins of use...a silicon case would solve that...
Currently have the Pixel 7 non pro, really debating getting this but ive used Pixel for a number of years now, really debating getting yhis Ultra while dpinle memory and free Pixel watch. But also worried that Pixels AI come the Pixel 9 being released will be way ahead. No idea what to do 🤣
You've gotta very good phone at the moment I'd say wait for the pixel 9 you'll NEVER be ok with Samsung's cameras after using pixel trust me.
8:50 For now, will have to purchase the magsafe cases that will be released when the phone is released.
Does it has 100x zoom ?
This is a huge upgrade from my Note 20 5G Ultra, and seven (7) years of OTS support is the main reason I'm sold on it.
Do they really said anything about 7 years os update or u said it wrong because no one is mentioning anything about this
It's real. Samsung announced it
I love the flat display, the overall boxy design, the processor and the color violet (replacement for blue).
I'm more excited for the z fold 6 ultra this summer
Preordered one
Flat displays are the best
Yep never had a phone with them i avoided samsung for the longest because of them and screen protectors not fitting right last samsung i had was s2 just ordered my s24 ultra i would of likef the normal s4 but i avoid exynos like the plague because its shit like google tensor😂
Glad to see the edge displays gone. Will upgrade from s23 uktra to s24 ultra JUST to get the flat screen.
I'll see you at the store!
I have the S22U and decided to bite the bullet and pre-ordered the 512 GB S24U in Titanium Blue. It was $600 and I got free Galaxy Buds 2 pro which I will sell since I already have a pair. The trade-in deals aren't anywhere as good as for the S22U where you got $1000 off and the new phone was only like $200-250). One thing I really don't like about modern Samsung phones after the Note 10 series is the very washed colors that don't look good. I'd love for Samsung to make a Navy blue or forest green phone but oh well I guess. A Dbrand teardown skin will have to do.
S24u is 1900$ here in Sweden. Only thing here is that we get 512 for the 256 price. Think i need to wait till blackfriday to get a great price
@Twizzforsberg Oh yeah I also had my storage doubled for free which is good but $1900 is an insane price tag. Unless the trade in deals are amazing or you get earbuds + watch with the phone there is no way to justify paying that much for this phone.
@@Halocraft021 No trades what i seen here in Sweden.
I have the note 10 plus and my phone is fine but i decided upgrade for the s24+ while the trade in vaule is still good for my phone other than getting a lesser amount if I wait another year. I got the aura glow and I feel you about the colors. I ended up picking the grey color instead of black to switch it up. Even though I'll have mine in a case.
Flat display fixes the GIANT issue of screen protectors and cases !!
The best s series I've ever had I've had all of them but the s9 and 10 this the one that slapps the most 🔥
Would you guys say it's worth upgrading from S20 Plus (exonys 990) to S24 Ultra? Battery and internet is both terrible. I charge my phone 3 - 4 times a day and internet randomly dies
If you have to charge three or four times a day yes
Definitely
/thanks a lot bro
Not like all previous models. Not all previous models had curved edges.
Love my S23 Ultra. Will be keeping mine. I COULD trade my S22 Ultra in for the 24 Ultra. But, I'm not sure I will. Maybe, maybe not. I don't feel like I really need to because the S23 Ultra is meeting all of my needs.
Nice video
24 ultra has the best specs, personally i like 24 regular and 24 plus design.
So if one doesn't care about the camera, get the regular S24/S24+ over the Ultra?
Or the s pen
Samsung saving Grace is really their trade-in deals and discounts. Honestly the s lineup can go back to the s21 and still be a great phone without having to upgrade. Most of the stuff that people use on their phones hasn't changed much or at all for the past 3 to 4 generations. When you look at camera comparison I see no difference between the s21 s22 s23 or the s24. In fact I thought the s22 ultra takes better picture than the s23. And when I look at some of the comparison to the s24 I thought that the new s24 ultra takes the same pictures as the s23 ultra. With AI I don't use it at all. I don't alter any of my pictures like the one demonstrated. The only reason why I am getting the s24 ultra is because of the great deal I am getting. To be honest the s24 ultra this year is not mind blowing impressive.
You're killing it Mike
You state, ",,, if you're getting the Galaxy anything Ultra you're probably doing it because you really want... to be using the pen..."
Don't get me wrong. I like the pen. I don't use it a great deal but try to get into sometimes because I know it could be useful. However, I would bet that most people who get the Ultra get it on account of the cameras (first) and the large screen (second). The processor and storage are big items, too, and I suspect many of the rest are looking at those as well. There are those coming from the Galaxy Note that see it differently, but I believe those people are in the minority.
Fortunately, you don't really lose much by keeping the pen, and I am glad it is there for if and when I might get to using it more often. The precision it affords over clumsy fingers is undoubtedly an advantage, one that I would like to make use of more often, whether it is with the keyboard or photo editing, for example. (There are other uses, but I find the use as a remote somewhat gimmicky.) I believe it is widely underutilized, even by me.
Hey thx for your input! Id say its fair enough for US users getting non ultra as all models are SD3. But worldwide users still use exynos for non ultra thats known for issues. hence for exynos markets imo, either get base s24 (small screen is only for premium phones) or ultra for SD3. As plus model price is alrdy close to ultra. Might as well go all in for ultra
@@jokast8861 I got the Ultra because of the photography. Never really was much of a choice, either. Everything else was an afterthought.
@@TimothyChase i see, but wdyt abt my opinion?
@@jokast8861 I had the one point that I disagreed on, which as a matter of human psychology I suppose naturally became my focus rather than the points of agreement. (My apologies.)
With respect to the rest of the review, I thought it was well-organized, touched all of the main points, and in a few cases highlighted how different tools could be used at different points in a process of quickly getting a complex task done. Being a cat lover, I liked the example of circle to search you used. Given how useful people are likely to find this feature, other examples might be included: circling a food dish to find out what its called, the recipe with which to make it or restaurants one might get it at, circling an item of clothing so that you might find where you can buy it, circling the image of a building to find its name, location and history.
From what I am seeing, a lot of what this phone can do is stuff that could be done before but only as part of a complex process. This phone makes so much of it seamless and effortless. AI is so often the latest gimmick used to get people to buy things. In contrast Samsung's guiding principle appears to be the utility of the tools and toolset.
I subscribed yesterday, and I am looking forward to your in depth review.
So disappointed with the color options Samsung has had for the past couple of years!
I think not changing the design is a positive because if they did it would make Note lovers disappointed.
Let's go hopping now s22 ultra become a bit more cheap
Change in though I'm saving for s24+
Same here
Hah...people are understandably MORE interested in the S24 and S24+. It even reflects in your videos on each of the phones, Mike! 🤭
I find it odd they raised the price to $1300. There improvements arent worth an extra $100.
You find it odd they raised the price? Have you purchase anything in the last 3 years??
@@chris7077 Yes. I've owned several Samsung devices in those 3 years. I think its a mistake to raise the price $100 over the previous model when not much has changed. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is now cheaper than the S24 Ultra.
@@davesecx If you think that's bad, just wait until they start charging for the AI features next year.
That is not acceptable, my colleague.
The alternatives had me cracking up. Such a funny example if I can say so myself
Galaxy ring 💍 Galaxy ring 💍 Galaxy ring 💍 ✨️
After watching this, why buy an iPhone 15 or 16...??? hahahaha Samsung years ahead of the competition!
Orange are gray those are my choices
I went for the grey because the colors are not even nice they are dull matt colors i would of liked polish or reflective colors that shine and pop out but samsung said no so titanium grey it is
@@Anon1370 yeah I actually went for the orange hope it's a cool color in the mettel
@@phillippugh2161 i would of liked it if it was a shiny reflective orange but dull matt is playing it safe
No need to upgrade 🎉Samsung will release one UI 6.1 with AI feature for S23ultra soon. All the same, just a new Titanium shell 🐚 😂
They are calling AI "Advanced Intelligence" and not "Artificial Intelligence". Interesting play on words....
They are trying to move away from the meaning behind artificial 😂
Average intelligence 😂😂😂
Make it lighter! These phones are soooo heavy
Not to hype about it.. nothing to crazy as change
Curved display was much better in terms of engineering and esthetic 😒
this might be the most beatufull phone ive ever seen its super clean with the titanium look
Nobody likes the yellow, im not sure why... making me dount my choices over here!
They're cheapened out on designing it. They need to stop copying Apple. The only good poojnt I like, is the flat display. No more issues finding a working screen protector. Awide from this, the ai stuff is nothing more than data hoarding of the customer. You are paying 1300 dollars to be spied on.
Lol! Then let's be honest S pen is a scam and all Note users and ultra users know this open secret... after 3 to 6 months the S PEN AIR ACTIONS stops working due to capacitor in the S pen getting overloaded... 😂😂😂... But funnily enough nobody took up this point till date... I wonder how much freebies does these so called reviewers get...?
True
I love the s pen but don't use air actions
First
Wow that was almost instant
No downgrades. lol. Stay off the drugs
Samsung is becoming apple now
Any handsome rich men in the comments that wanna buy me this phone? LOL
yes be my slave first
Maybe a suga momma will take pitty on your broke ass but i doubt it 😅
Could have improved the charging speeds to atleast 65w or 100w pd 🥲 what's the use of great cameras if u have to wait for an hr during vacations in order to use camera a lot
