- We don't always want to present a wet fly near the surface. Here's a few alternatives on how to et a wet fly down and still present it slowly enough to be effective.

I have yet to catch a large brown, I drive far every week to that river and all I catch is little 4" browns. I haven't given up yet. I think I need to explore more locations through out the river. Your videos are so educational and I'm learning so much. Awesome footage of seeing that fish flash.

Great info. Would a type 3 polyleader work on a 6wt intermediate line? I'm so programed to only put polyleaders on my trout spey and skandi. Cheers
Yes, it will work fine with one proviso, that the fly being used sinks well on its own. Poor sinking flies can hold up the end of a PolyLeader.
Great presentation! What are your thoughts on using "gehrke's Xink" to get the fly deeper? Thanks
Never used it so I couldn't comment on its effectiveness. From what I understand, it works like detergent to help the fly and leader break through the surface film.

Hi Peter, excellent video. I have a question. Part way in you said you switched out the leader and "soaked" the fly. Could you please explain what you meant? I am passionate and swinging wets, softhackkes, and north country spiders. If you could explain, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Anthony
There are two definitions to "soaking" a fly. In the one case, we just let it sit on the dangle for a while. However, in this case I'm just talking about making sure that the fly is thoroughly wet enough so that it will not float. I built the fly to float, but now I had to make it sink.
