Hello. I'm gonna buy some 15 inch subs soon. I'm thinking SUB15H or DVA S09. I did not like the RCF ones. 705/905AS (both mk1 and mk2). What do you think? Which one sounds better? I am willing to pay the extra cash for the DVA S09. I just need a 15inch sub that's better than sub705/sub905 from RCF. And also, I own some TL6A tops with TTS26A subs. What options do I have from DB TECHNOLOGIES that would match this setup? 4 X TTL6 and 6 x TTS26A subs. Thank you very much! :)
The TTS26 are going to be the best 15's you can get, not much out there other the LAcoustic for 15" subs that will rock your world. The S09 is OK but nothing can compare with the TTS26's
Can you do a comparison between the Sub18H and the ETX 18SP? i'm thinking of paying to do a local comparison here in Australia as there is a guy who sells them but he needs a bit of convincing to take one out of the box as he knows i won't be buying as i've just bought the Sub18H it pretty much ate the PRX618-XLF i used to have.
EV would have to send us a demo to do a side by side...which, we are dealers, but I don't think they are down for that ... think this series would be some serious competition to them. And most likely outperform them...
trinityprosound Hi,unfortunately as i've previously stated this didn't seem to be the case the ETX 18SP was better all round but we were only trying a couple of tracks and the ETX is around 10kg's heavier and a lot wider/harder to lift. On the other hand i can lift the SUB18H with a little strain on to a trolley, i think the DB is a very good compromise on weight and power i did a function last week with around 300 people and it felt like there were 2 subs in the room, one of the staff came up and asked what subs we were using and i just pointed at the SUB18H.
Hi , thanks for the response i can report that i compared the DB SUB18H to EV ETX18SP & sorry to say the EV was louder ,went lower & was cleaner to my ears none of the 2 subs were run into limiting but as you know the DB is horn loaded so it's kind of a dirtier sound (how i describe it) this was evident when we turned off the top box and just listened to the subs, the crossover on the DB also lets more high frequencies through. Of course the main problem with the EV is that it's a 2 man lift it's a monster sized sub that will break you're back if you try lifting on your own and you'll need a lot more space in your vehicle to transport it as it's quite wide which also makes it harder to lift , on the other hand the DB is easy to lift it's around 10 kg's lighter and is only about 20% lower in output but output on the DB is still very impressive, i suppose the ETX is in a class above in both Weight and output.
George Georgio Hi. Have you try a test with a prx 618xlf and the db sub 18H? I read on the specs of the db that this is a "combo bass reflex-semi horn loaded" sub. Im very interested to this aspect. The frequency response of the db18H is 28 to 150Hz at -10db, and you can choose the 90-120hz crossover frequency. I think that the great aspect of this hybrid configuration is that came down very low frequency in bass reflex and very long throw range boost in long distance. The prx618xlf have from 30hz to 105hz at -10db. I can confirm that the prx came down at very very low frequency!! but it does not exceed 90hz and the bass reflex configuration have little/medium-long throw range. What do you think about this? Thanks in advance, best regards.
Hi , i'm not a sound engineer i'm a Musician but the DB is like having 1 and a half PRX618-XLF's there is a major difference forget the JBL specs they're not accurate. The DB pounds harder, goes deeper and seems to throw longer also does not get as hot on the back like the PRX does. That's why JBL are bringing their new SRX series out to compete with all the newer models from EV , DB etc one thing about the DB is that it's a dirtier sound not as clean as the front loaded EV i compared it to also a lot lighter as the EV is impossible to lift unless you're very strong.
George Georgio Hi. Thanks for the answer. Just yesterday I carried out tests with jbl prx 618xlf and a db dva s10. With a "hearing test" I could see that the prx attacks from 28Hz up to 100hz. Then it off completely, while the dva s10 attacks by 38-40hz to over 250Hz with filter at 90hz! to get all the power of prx it need to connect the sub in stereo mode, so to be able to work both internal amplifiers for reach the full power, otherwise the power is definitely half. The sub dva s10 is only mono, therefore has an output comparable only with the stereo mode of prx. The sound of prx is soft and pleasantly muffled, while the sound of dva is dry and more opened (but is also designed to be suspended!). I think that the spl is little more in dva. I wonder if even the sub db 18h in mono mode has half power. Could you possibly tell me this? Thanks in advance, regards
Hi the sub18H uses the latest digipro 3rd gen so you can't compare it with an old digipro 1st or 2nd gen dva s10. There is no competition the PRX sounded hollow when i compared it to the sub18h i had one FBT VERVE on one side with the PRX and one with the SUB18H on the other side the difference was night and day the only thing you could argue is that the JBL may go slightly lower at low volumes but i did'nt notice it. If your'e trying to work out what goes lower etc you would have to hire both or one of them (if you have the PRX) and then do some testing but i think you'll be wasting your time, wait til the new JBL models come out the PRX is almost 5 Y.O. I also compared the sub18h with the DB sigma sub and the Presonus 18" sub and it was more powerful than both of them but i think they may have had a cleaner sound at lower volumes being front loaded.
George Georgio Hi. Im very interested to buy a pair of db sub 18 h and replace my prx 618xlf. I hope to hear as soon as possible. I put them under the Verse Insider 15 MKII (the Verse sub 18mkII is very cumbersome). Yesterday im try another test in open space with prx and dva s10. The results are that the dva have more spl and sometimes i see the clip limiter. The JBL is more closed and the clip limiter is continuos light. Together they have a nice full sound! By the way: What can you tell me about the limiter of the db 18H? Another question: can you describe the differences between the sigma 18 sub and the 18H if you listened to them both? I know very well the sound of the sigma sub. Thanks in advance, regards.
I narrowed my choice between the DB technologies es 1203 system and the Sub 15h and some opera tops as a compact system. Which one would be better to do dj events?
use a pair of ES1002s' for ease of set up and portability, but you may realize a bit more sound output from a pair of Opera tops and a pair of SUB15H's
Not a fan of the sound of Yorkville speakers for subs, they are seem flabby to me. 18H is a great sub for the price point, weight, features, etc. There are better for a bit more $$$
+Clottey Partick Those are 110 pounds each and are not designed to pole mount...too heavy and most stands will not support the weight...also a liability should some one knock it over, being top heavy would be easy to do, we would not recommend.
It can, but it will be most likely 6-10db down from the peak which is around 70hz, there is not enough cone or power to really produce effectively on a sub of this type and size down to a earth shattering 28hz. you have to get into a 21" with more power and larger volume of box to get constant earth shattering, low note out of that you will feel, but may near clearly hear...
18H is the only current sub in that series, 18D is discontinued , 18H will do a good job, it is better than QSC KW181, also look at FBT SUBLINE new 118SA is amazing.
Daniel Graves they are close, but the SUB18H is horn loaded design and will most likely go lower than the EV sub. Power rating and SPL is within 1db, however we do not know where those measurements were taken with each sub, so hard to say.

BertoConsalvi The 18H probably does, but a 6db down or so...you have to have a lot of power and very large drivers to feel the 28hz signal...it is more of a feel than sound and the only way other than at low levels to get that is a box tuned for the low end or lots of power and large drivers in the 21" range. There are some good 18" boxes that will do that low and also some specialty boxes with 12" drivers in them, properly tuned. To see something that will do that low, look at the RCF TTS56A

Hello, according to your taste, which one is better? QSC KW181, dB Technologies 18H or JBL PRX818XLFW ??
I would take the SUB81H any day. More power, QSC is not a 1000w sub, they fudge the numbers and the PRX line is cheap for what you pay for the boxes.
