- Having some fun with suppressors and the 7.62X35 220 grain 300 AAC Blackout. The Advanced Armament suppressor on the rifle is the model 762-SDN-6, which is a "Quick Attach" type suppressor.

If you were to shoot all your steel targets suppressed and sample the sound they each make, you could then work out the "note" of each of them, and then work out the correct order in which to shoot them to allow you to play a tune on them all. Almost like Hickoks symphony in 7.62 in the key of A#R for example. Mike Oldfield released Tubular bells many years ago, you could do similar with targets. You could be the next big thing Hickok of course you'd have to sign with A&R records, hehehe. Or even make a special appearance on the Gong Show.
micky mondo this is a great comment. Thank you for being creative. No joke, was thinking the same thing. I totally thought you would have a zillion likes on this. I’m with you, I think we need a Carol of the bells AR edition. Well, maybe the glock 19 as that is Hickok signature pistol.

Has anyone else noticed the irony that in a video about the quietest rifle he's had, the background noise is the most deafening? Just guessing, but I think someone's getting new neighbors.
i was thinking the same thing. the rifle was quieter than the hammer.
I was thinking that maybe he was getting a new roof or something!! Lmao
I was thinking of Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in Scrooged.
He has neighbors that shoot as well. He mentioned it in a video (cant recall the exact one out of his 1000+upload list) and that it's common for the neighbors to join in once they hear him popping off.
Kinda rude knowing he's a UA-cam guy and just needs 25 minutes max to film an unedited video. But hey, I'm sure they have an agreement and get along just fine!
Are u sure it's a hammer, it may be gunshots at his other range
It never gets old hearing the joy in your voice and laughter while shooting. Thanks for all you do.
I'm just imagining a alternate reality where not shooting suppressed is heavily regulated and people are excited to shoot full speed rounds. "Went out and shot some supersonic round the other day, wow what a blast!"
To me like having to get a permit to run a muffler on your car
Scott wade In a way - but mufflers are for emissions control I believe? I get the concept though.
@@xenotype3258 actually catalytic converters are for emissions. The mufflers were invented at the same time as silencers and by the same guy..
"American inventor Hiram Percy Maxim, son of Maxim gun inventor Hiram Stevens Maximand co-founder of the American Radio Relay League, is usually credited with inventing and selling the first commercially successful silencer around 1902, receiving a patent for it on March 30, 1909.[2][3][4] Maxim gave his device the popularly trademarked name "Maxim Silencer",[5] and they were regularly advertised in sporting goods magazines.[6]The muffler for internal combustion engineswas developed in parallel with the firearm silencer by Maxim in the early 20th century, using many of the same techniques to provide quieter-running engines, and in many English-speaking countries automobile mufflers are called silencers." - wikipedia

Was called a "silencer" when first invented back at turn of the century... Because the man that invented it also created "silencers" for engines which we now call mufflers. Names just change with the times Hickok, so no worries, I don't think any of us are too concerned ;)

OMG that is so effing cool!
It'll probably never happen, but the government really should get rid of the dumb laws on supressors and short barreled rifles. A supressor only makes shooting more fun and safer for preserving hearing health. SBR's are just lighter and easier to maneuver indoors for home defense.
Supressors and SBRs don't make guns easier to commit crimes with, which I think was the argument for the laws.
Suppressors are really easy to get in Texas. Where allowed to hunt with them..
dabNtx Well yeah if you want to spend another $200 on top of the cost of the supressor and then wait 6 months to a year for the stamp.

Considering building a 16” 300 blackout and suppressing it using subs. I hear a lot of people saying not to because they will be supersonic even using subs because the 16” barrel speeds it up past super but the rifle in the video sounded absolutely perfect. Any input is appreciated!
I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that factory subsonic ammo is made to be subsonic in 16” barrels. I’ve seen some velocities in shorter barrels, and they are really slow, like 900 fps in some cases. Of course, if you handload you can dial them in to whatever you want.
Hornaday 300 208 grain ammo is pretty good. Just expensive. Pretty quiet.
Subsonic 300 Blackout is designed to be fired from an SBR suppressed at CQB. I initially thought about getting a PSA 16" barrel with the pistol length gas system. But I think a shorter barrel of 10.5" or 11.5" max would be more beneficial with a Can under CQB to maintain close quarters maneuverability and less interference. If you are simply getting one for home defense, I would stick with a 12 gauge shotgun with a red dot mounted on it.
it never ceases to amaze me at how well of a shot you are!
"I think ill miss on purpose"

I heard through the grapevine that there is a bill that would remove suppressor off of the nfa list so one could buy them over the counter. I think the bill was called the hearing protection act.

First time i heard him chuckle so much too. First time i got my hands on a silenced rifle, i did the same thing, come to think of it, i still chuckle at every silenced shot I shoot, even 20+ yrs later! It increases the accuracy on pistols so much its ridiculous and decreases muzzle climb on a rifle to were follow up shots are SO EASY its hard not to laugh at the complete novelty of it all.
He is an excellent shot
You are an excellent human
You shoot as many rounds as he does, with your own range.... you'll be separating fly from wings in no time.
Unbelievable how quiet this suppressor is
Pretty much the most serious crime committed with a suppressor is poaching, and many countries allows suppressors anyway without much poaching going on.
***** Same here did you know in Europe it is considered rude not to use a suppressor, one of the few things they get right when it comes to guns.
Tqtrpiypuu I was aware of that, I really wish we'd change the laws here and get the cost of them down. My neighbors would sure appreciate it if I could afford suppress my guns... But luckily for me I have great neighbors, and I can still shoot loud all I want, I just let them pop off a couple every now and then. I also hate having to wear hearing protection while I shoot, it's uncomfortable, but I deal with it because I'd like to keep my nice acute hearing into old age. Maybe someday I will have the extra cash to get a suppressor on my AK... But they're so expensive (especially for what is essentially a tube with baffles in it, I mean come on...) I'd probably just buy another gun instead, hahaha.

In my opinion, one of the best CQ SBR firearms out there. Firing it is fun & addictive, as you can see. An integrated suppressor makes it easier to carry! Luv it!
Y'know... It makes me wonder. With the subsonic rounds he fires, sometimes even the supersonic ones, there's always a delay when Hick shoots at the farthest gong. A small delay between shot and impact. Makes me wonder if someone with elite reflexes could potentially react from that distance given they were warned. I'm not talking dodge it like Spider-Man, but react fast enough to duck behind cover. Hick said the round moved 1000 fps... Which would be supersonic, or maybe he mixed it up, but anyways, the farthest gong has to be at least 300ft out, that's a little under half a second before that bullet impacts. An athlete with a reaction speed of at least 190 ms should be able to avoid it in a hypothetical situation where he'd hear the sound at the exact time the round left the barrel, right?
I think you should also account for the speed of sound
@@slm8328 767mph. That’s why I said the subsonic round. Because you’d be able to hear the sound before the projectile reaches you. But, it’s be right behind the sound.
1000fps is below the speed of sound. It would not be supersonic
some states now allow suppressed firearms for hunting ,deer etc...
Excellent points. A .223 @1000fps would still be lethal, but not very effective or practical, especially if it isn't enough of an explosion to cycle the gun (which is a requirement for gas-operated guns like the AR).
You should try playing a song on the different sized steel.

Weird question for you, I know your a taller man and a fine shot. I enjoy your videos and love your contribution to the gun life. I'm 7 foot 1 and really want a lever action in 357 magnum. Do you have any recommendations as to which model might provide me with the most natural/enjoyable experience? Shooting is an activity that truly love and gives me an opportunity to not be interrupted while doing.
LIke me, you are accustomed to adapting to the size of things. I think you'd do fine with any full size lever gun; you just need a good butt pad extender. The biggest problem is getting more length on the stock so that your face and eye is better positioned in relationship to the sights. With a slip-on stock extension, you'd probably enjoy about any of the Winchesters or Marlins, or clones of them. Hard to beat a Winchester Model 73 or 86. A Marlin Model 94 is great, too, but they can be smallish. Even the classic Model 92 is one you'd probably like if you got it in full length barrel.

Very entertaining and informative video bud. Hell, I do believe you sealed the deal on me breaking down and grabbing the 300.
is the 300 blackout similar to the .45 acp in that it is subsonic by nature? or do you have to buy subsonic specific 300 blackout
You have to buy subsonic. Regular 300 AAC is 2000+ fps and not subsonic thus quite a bit louder when shot through a suppressed rifle.
Could you get an AAC Honey Badger for review/woods walk?
Hollywood made them extra dangerous with screwing them on a revolver and making it sound like a mouse Fart! Gotta love Hollywood! For an institution that's so anti gun they sure have made bank on them in there movies!
Love and support our 2nd amendment.
The slugs are supposed to be moving slowly, that way they don't break the sound barrier and cause more noise.
They chose a heavy bullet moving relatively slowly because of the simple fact that it can carry enough energy because it's got more mass, but doesn't need to break the sound barrier to do so like a 5.56 would.
The bullets are 229 grains, not grams. Not sure what you meant, though.
Ft/lbs of energy on target depends almost entirely on size(mass) and speed, so yes, it is necessarily size and speed.
300blk will only carry more energy at short distances, but it can do so quietly which is why it's attractive.
Well, someone should be very stupid to commit crime with a gun that they legally own. Every gun leaves a specific mark on a bullet by firing pin or from barrel riffling or any other gun internal so its not that hard to track down a gun owner if you find a bullet casing lying somewhere on the crime scene. In my country there are about 58 guns per 100 adults that can legally own a gun (not convicted for any felony that is) and yet they make less that 1% of gun related crimes a year.
Silly goose, the only way one might know if a case or bullet was fired from a specific weapon by its 'fingerprints' would require a direct comparison between said recovered case and one fired by the specific weapon. This is much like having a person's fingerprints on file to compare against ones found in a crimescene. If one's fingerprints are not recorded, one has nothing to fear so far as being identified by fingerprint. Yes?
Friedrich Faudenberg Well yes you are right, bullet case can't be used to discover the guy who shot but its often used as a proof when police tracks down possible suspects. Anyway for various reasons other than that no self-respecting criminal would carry its own gun to a crimescene, just in case he drops it. :)
kara88bg I was unaware that there was such a thing as a "self-respecting criminal." If there were anything respectable about him, he wouldn't be a criminal. xD
Peter Fitzsimmons You don't have to be respectable to respect yourself. Self-respecting meaning a person who merits a particular role or name.
Someones been watching too much CSI...
You have to use subsonic rounds to avoid the sonic boom from a round breaking the sound barrier. That is what he was referring to when he said that it makes the suppressor work better.
I've never heard hickok giggle like that before. He was having so much fun. Hell I was having fun watching and listening. Awesome round.

It sure does man. I really do think they should make this rifle a service weapon. It would do such good.
ShaHLinNinja- Why? .223 is just fine.
EpicXXProductions
300 blackout is only better with subsonic loads. If you compare them a 300 blackout is about $1.00 a round while a .223 can be about $.40.
MrWalkwaySc2 I pay 26 cents each for .223. That's not my concern though, I just don't understand why someone would want to replace .223 with 300 aac. .223 is known by its accuracy, recoil, carry weight, trajectory and wound characteristics to be the best battle ammo for close to mid range combat. I don't see how subsonic ammo would do you any good in the military either, all that's doing is killing your range, accuracy, and bullet energy.
EpicXXProductions
I agree, if it were better the military would've been using it by now.
Suppressor is a GUN MUFFLER. Cars have suppressors, mandatory in most States.
I have had issues with my P-Mag 5.56's as well. I bought the new Victor Pistol last summer, and have been buying the P-Mags for .300 ACC. Ammo sure has not dropped since this video, but I reload cheap.
I have had problems with P-Mags feeding. There's a rib inside most magazines, that guides the follower, that pushes the Blackout cartridges out of alignment. The bigger or farther back that rib is, the more pronounced the problem is. Leaving 3 rounds out of a 30 round mag, 2 out of 20, and 1 out of the 10 round mags lessens the problems. tapping the base and back of the loaded mag helps to seat the cartridges. Magpul makes a 30 round mag specifically for the Blackout, but will work with .223/5.56 also, to eliminate feeding issues.
This is my warzone loadout lmao he gots the mono,60 round mag, but no commando fore-grip or ranger fore grip. He is gonna have mad recoil.
Love the old Hickok suppressed glockenspiel !

Hey now my fellow Kentuckian. We know our firearms better than any state. People think of Texas when tgey think of firearms. Texas is the number 2 (that's "dos" in Texican) state for annual firearms sales. Kentucky is actually the number 1 state, and we sell over twice as many as those amateurs in Texas. Lol. (just teasing, Texans)
Adam Kennard I tell you what, Texas is number 1 in propane and propane accessories. Dang ole Kentucky uses too much Charcoal. Kentucky likes eating their burgers with charcoal taste
Please do not use illegal drugs. Pledge to be drug free in America. No pot no Clintons no large government no to Democrats no no and more big no to pot a gateway drug.
I'm no expert, but it doesn't take an expert to know that alcohol is the biggest problem in society in terms of "drugs." I think my family is way more at risk from alcohol use on the highways than pot, even if they are driving in a state where it's legal.
Also, the old "gateway drug" argument is about as goofy an argument as much of the gun banner logic. Duh, of course, if something is illegal and you have to buy it from the same guy who is selling other illegal drugs in order to get it, it puts you in the neighborhood of other drugs right away.
You cannot protect people from themselves; there's way too much of that going on as it is.
Guy with the hammer is making more noise than the rifle.
There has been introduced legislation to move suppressors to a 4473 requirement only. Call your congresscritter. I think it's called the "hearing protection act of 2015" or something similar.
Matt Worner won't ever happen. To much money in stamps involved
Hickok, about how much would you estimate that whole setup for that AR would cost? Rifle, sights, and suppressor? I've been thinking about customizing my AK, cause its easier to clean, but thinking about purchasing an AR. What would you recommend?
Why does anyone call them silencers?? It’s a MUFFLER for heavens sake. Call it by it’s function. No one would use a lawn mower without one & we’d hate cars without one.
Was even invented by the dude who invented mufflers.
No ear protection needed, seems like. And little recoil. That's a firearm for granpaws like me
Those democraps... We want suppressors to not be as regulated. We are the people the government works for us.
