Henry, thank you. All functions working well. Initially had a problem due to my test wire being too long. Shortened it and everything works well. No more battery.
Thanks for posting. I used computer female jumper wires to slide over the positive & negative battery connection pins to avoid soldiering since the pins are telescoping/spring loaded type that might stick in place with soldier (pins retract with battery inserted…should you want the option to swap back to battery in the future). Soldiered on a female USB-C port on to the wires on the other side of the wall so that I could run a 5v/1a USB-C charging cable to the port on the garage side. Considered hooking up the battery in the power chain, but there is really no point since WiFi router connection & WiFi recording capability would go down with any power outage / interruption.
Just did this, I wound up using a Samsung 5 VOLT - 2 AMP Fast Charger, as the 5 VOLT - .5, .7, or 1 AMP wasn't enough power. The lower AMP adapters would not have a strong enough wireless signal to reach my router. With the 5 VOLT - 2 AMP adapter it connects everytime. I can consistently pull up the video in the Application now. Thank you for the video!!!
Do you only connect positive and negative wires? What about the other pins? How many wires are in the samsung charger? 2? Thanks for the video! Great idea!
I was reading that the battery input is 5v for charging, and the keypad takes 3.7v ~ wouldn't a 5v wall charger potentially cause overheating issues especially in summer?
On a reddit thread I saw someone familiar with the type of battery cell in the pack said the total was something like 3.7 volts. If that is the case wouldn't a 5v wall wart be to much then?
The back of the video keypad says 5V input. Many electronics are setup to accept a voltage range. Works well for me with multiple 5V cell phone chargers.
That might be referencing the input voltage for charging the battery via the USB port on the battery. USB is 5v which is why USB phone chargers are so interchangeable. The battery itself appears to output 3.7v to the keypad on those two outer pins. If you are going to hard wire to the keypad you might want to regulate down to 3.7v. If you are just connecting a phone charger to the battery then 5v should be fine.
Hi installed a USB right into battery compartment to keep battery charged Only problem is I cannot power it down unless I dismantle it to reboot it. It will not connect to Wi-Fi any idea how to make a connect without powering it down thanks.
This alternative approach where you wire up the battery to a micro USB cable seems more robust: ua-cam.com/video/2NtakG1zNf4/v-deo.htmlsi=zC8fKYlh4HX1v-be
Can you do a more detailed video on doing this? Thank you for showing it can be done!

Glad to hear
That's great, I basically did the same thing with old school keypad and it work amazing and has been for 2 years.

Very nice

Absolutely!
Thanks 😊
I just wish you would of shown your process.

Great much appreciated 👍

Would a adapter 5.0v / 1 amp work?
Yes. Too few volts, won't work. Too many volts, death to electronics. Too few amps, won't work. Too many amps (available), no problem.

It didnt work for me, the front light will flash 4 colors then the device turns off.
Working I was thinking about the same. You confirmed. Thank you I used computer connectors without soldering
Can you share photo?
Which computer connector did you use?
@VickyColorado, you inspired me to look into this more!! Is the appropriate computer connector a mini SATA cable? If so, what did you connect it to?
@@pickenpaughjg any that would fit pin far left and far right. Your can use any DVD ROM bus from comp or any 1mm connectors
it would be so helpful if you could be specific on what to use and how to connect it
