This pearl, the Beethoven op18 #2, also known as "the compliment quartet" has been described by some mavens as "Haydn's best quartet"...a lovely performance, young, fresh and delightful.
Haydn's finest? Beethoven wishes. There was no greater master then Haydn, especially in the Quartet genre. Still a very good quartet, truly a forgotten gem.
+Igor Maxwel I don't know but I would guess they either thought it was better without the repeat, or they didn't want the performance to last too long. Sorry I'm not much help; I'm only a student :) Someone else might know more than me
+Igor Maxwel Happy to help :) You may know this but repeats are sometimes ignored, for various reasons; I would not be surprised if they also have repeats in their edition. Have fun playing it, whatever you do with the repeats! (p.s. I play the viola)
+TheMusical Corner - I don't know why they chose that name, but the word (yes, in Italian) is a musical instruction to go straight ahead without pause or hesitation. You will see it in musical scores at the end of one section of a piece, where the composer is directing that there should be no pause at all before launching into the next section.
The performance is beautiful; the dresses not half-bad, just not to my taste that evening. The public complaint was plain bad manners. I must have been in a foul mood. Hearing the piece again, the distinctive voice of Beethoven comes through loud and clear.
Beethoven's distinctive voice is generally missing,. The piece could have been could have been written by Mozart or Haydn. No matter, its quite beautiful and beautifully played. The wonderful violinists' dresses are horrible and should be given to a vintage thrift store.
I was so moved by this performance!
This was simply grand -- both the music and the playing!
This is one of the best performances of this piece I've ever heard. Awesome work guys!

I thought their performance of the second movement particularly was lovely.
Awesome!
BRAVO !!!
Last mvt. starts at 19:20
(Self-note for practice)
+Hassan Horack Why the exposition of last mvt no is repeated, like the first movement?
+Igor Maxwel I don't know but I would guess they either thought it was better without the repeat, or they didn't want the performance to last too long.
Sorry I'm not much help; I'm only a student :)
Someone else might know more than me
Hassan Horack In my version the exposition in mvt 1 and 4 is repeated. In total, this quartet have 26 or 27 minutes. Thanks for your answer.
+Igor Maxwel Happy to help :)

Hassan Horack Allright, friend!
Great playing. Gorgeous girls.
Wonderfully played. If only the camera had more regard for the music!
Yes. Giving the camera guys full artistic license where classical music is concerned is almost always a mistake.

Why does the quaertet name is "Attacca". that is an italian world?

thanks for the update bennett
very well played but change the cameraman.( genderneutral.)

Surely dress taste is individual. Anyhow it shouldn't be a comment in a musical broadcast.
You come here to listen to Beethoven string quartets to comment on the _dresses?!_
