There’s a certain sting that comes along with the feeling of “this made me happy, but it’s my time to say goodbye”that will always be difficult to describe. But that face, made it crystal clear. I can't help thinking that SNL was a custom fit for her talents. As many alums have discovered over the decades, I wonder how well she will translate to the big screen.
What a great ending to her run. Even that last line in the room-“I always felt kinda like an alien on this planet anyway”-has a tone of bittersweetness. A lot of people turn to comedy because they feel out of place in the world, but Kate McKinnon found where she belonged, and she inspired lots of other people who feel the same way. Thank you for the laughter, Ms. McKinnon. :)
Some actors know when they should move on. It's not when their act becomes stale but when they are still beloved and at the top of their game. Thank you both Aidy and Kate for so many great memories watching your characters! I am sure you will be just as great wherever you go next!

That ending moment is the only time I think I’ve seen Kate break a bit and show emotion through her total immersion in a role. And with good reason. Can’t wait to see where her comedy takes her from here.
Well there was that one time last season on Weekend Update when she was Dr. Wenodis (pronounced like "we know this") talking about vaccines and Covid precautions, where she just completely broke. Colin Jost finally addressed her out of character saying "Kate, are you all right?", and she said "obviously not".
Of course, Kate would leave us with one of the strangest, most disturbing, and weirdly hilarious images ever shared on TV lol... Aidy, Cess, Mikey, and Natasha are total pros for not breakin during this sketch!
It’s also not very funny. Like honestly how deprive for entertainment are you that when you see this this is like the funniest thing that you’ve watched all week? It’s literally the last thing that you’re going to watch all week. If you watch it live when it comes on. I feel like the line “I always felt like an alien on this planet anyway” is a reference to the challenges of being a zany, queer comic genius misunderstood by society until you get your big break (becoming the funniest SNL cast member in lord knows how long). My humor is very similar to hers, and it’s always been hard for conventional people to understand me. Seeing her be unapologetically herself week after week, really helped me to start accepting myself, and not hiding my personality away, simple because people though I was weird
I think she’s the best Not Ready for Prime Time Player since Gilda Radner, my favorite of the Orignal NRFPTPs - and that says a lot, because the entire original cast was amazing, plus there were so many other greats, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, just to name a few.

The sketch was also pretty clearly designed as a send-off, so it tracks that that amount of thought would go into key lines. But agree to disagree:)

She is absolutely a legend - I have watched four decades of SNL and Kate McKinnon has been my absolute favorite comic - hands down. She expanded what was possible for a female comedian to do taking on male and female roles alike. She is a comic genius and I wish her all the very best. Will miss her tremendously. Kate has a sense of comedic timing that is a gift from god, she knew what was funny and exactly how to share that with her audience. She'll go down in SNL history as one of the all-time greats. The problem with this show and comedy in general is Men are being feminized. This show is all about woman and gays. So real men cant preform and are weak looking, coddling to girls here. Women generally are not funny and filled with to much emotion to be funny. So the ratings are bad because gays and fat girls are to emotional and cant get over personal struggles to be funny. The truth hurts like my big member.

I’m not crying your crying. Honestly surprised at how much I grew to love this cast. Especially Kate and Aidy. It always takes me a while to warm to the new people. I went from watching reservedly to just outright loving them in what felt like an instant. Going to miss them.
I feel like Aidy was already emotional when the sketch started and honestly same. I basically grew up with Kate on SNL (I was 12 when Kate started). She's made me laugh and inspired me so many times throughout her time on the show. She's truly an amazing comedian, artist and woman. She truly carried SNL with her many characters the last 10 years and she'll be greatly missed on the show. Can't wait to see her future endeavours!

This actually made me cry. I have anxiety, ptsd, and adhd so falling asleep is hard for me. Watching SNL skits as a fall asleep gives me something to focus on other than the thought tornado. Kate McKinnon, for almost 5 years you have been able to help me fall asleep and quiet my thoughts. I've had four heart surgeries at 23 years old and every night before going to the hospital, I would watch you. Even when I was in the hospital, and it would hurt to laugh sometimes, I still watched you. This may be your last show as a cast member, but for me, your performance will never end. Take a bow Kate, and thank you.

For me Kate's comedy routines took me back to the early SNL days with the cast like Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain and Laraine Newman. Kate is a standout comedian that will leave a huge hole to fill on SNL.
Having watched the show for a reeeeally long time, I have to agree. Some folks just “got it”, whether it’s Radner or Poehler or Murphy or Fey or Macdonald, to name a few. The current cast still includes some serious talent, but it hurts when those who have such extraordinary ability move on, no matter how much you expect it. McKinnon stayed on the show longer than I expected, really.
I hope she has nothing but the best of all luck and fortune going forward, she’s been a solid foundation of SNL and key reason I’ve watched for quite some time now. Emotional ending to the skit and a well deserved exit for the character as well.
The fact that you can remember that they did the other ones is a shame because it’s not that funny and they should’ve been quit doing it and tried something new and original. The problem with Kate is she was only good in political scenes. She was a great impersonator but outside of that she’s just annoying to watch. Doing shit that you would never be allowed to do in any other form of entertainment but she thinks oh it’s improv so let me sit up here and look like a jackass. Fuck her I’m glad she’s fucking gone. As far as Pete is concerned? Well that’s a shame for SNL that they barely got any of him and his last season because he’s too busy jet setting and dating the worlds most famous woman. That ending moment is the only time I think I’ve seen Kate break a bit and show emotion through her total immersion in a role. And with good reason. Can’t wait to see where her comedy takes her from here.
Well there was that one time last season on Weekend Update when she was Dr. Wenodis (pronounced like "we know this") talking about vaccines and Covid precautions, where she just completely broke. Colin Jost finally addressed her out of character saying "Kate, are you all right?", and she said "obviously not".
Also when she played Hilary Clinton after Trump won. She sang "Hallelujah" while playing piano. She was holding back tears during the end of that song
That's ironic bc I've never seen her make it through a skit that she didn't break character.

I think she’s the best Not Ready for Prime Time Player since Gilda Radner, my favorite of the Orignal NRFPTPs - and that says a lot, because the entire original cast was amazing, plus there were so many other greats, Eddie Murphy, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, just to name a few.

The sketch was also pretty clearly designed as a send-off, so it tracks that that amount of thought would go into key lines. But agree to disagree:)

She is absolutely a legend - I have watched four decades of SNL and Kate McKinnon has been my absolute favorite comic - hands down. She expanded what was possible for a female comedian to do taking on male and female roles alike. She is a comic genius and I wish her all the very best. Will miss her tremendously. The problem with this show and comedy in general is Men are being feminized. This show is all about woman and gays. So real men cant preform and are weak looking, coddling to girls here. Women generally are not funny and filled with to much emotion to be funny. So the ratings are bad because gays and fat girls are to emotional and cant get over personal struggles to be funny. The truth hurts like my big member.

A comedian and artist with such natural ability to bring joy and make people laugh. One of my all time favorites on the show. She will be missed.

I’m not crying your crying. Honestly surprised at how much I grew to love this cast. Especially Kate and Aidy. It always takes me a while to warm to the new people. I went from watching reservedly to just outright loving them in what felt like an instant. Going to miss them.

I feel like Aidy was already emotional when the sketch started and honestly same. I basically grew up with Kate on SNL (I was 12 when Kate started). She's made me laugh and inspired me so many times throughout her time on the show. She's truly an amazing comedian, artist and woman. She truly carried SNL with her many characters the last 10 years and she'll be greatly missed on the show.

This actually made me cry. I have anxiety, ptsd, and adhd so falling asleep is hard for me. Watching SNL skits as a fall asleep gives me something to focus on other than the thought tornado. Kate McKinnon, for almost 5 years you have been able to help me fall asleep and quiet my thoughts. I've had four heart surgeries at 23 years old and every night before going to the hospital, I would watch you. Even when I was in the hospital, and it would hurt to laugh sometimes, I still watched you. This may be your last show as a cast member, but for me, your performance will never end. Take a bow Kate, and thank you.

For me Kate's comedy routines took me back to the early SNL days with the cast like Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain and Laraine Newman. Kate is a standout comedian that will leave a huge hole to fill on SNL.
That was one of the best send offs. She will be missed. I hope to see her on the big screen. She is so talented.

Having watched the show for a reeeeally long time, I have to agree. Some folks just “got it”, whether it’s Radner or Poehler or Murphy or Fey or Macdonald, to name a few. The current cast still includes some serious talent, but it hurts when those who have such extraordinary ability move on, no matter how much you expect it. McKinnon stayed on the show longer than I expected, really.
I hope she has nothing but the best of all luck and fortune going forward, she’s been a solid foundation of SNL and key reason I’ve watched for quite some time now. Emotional ending to the skit and a well deserved exit for the character as well.
