NBC’s live three-hour production of “The Sound of Music” was enjoyed by over 18 million viewers. For the few who missed it SNL was proud to present its condensed version aired as a cold opening of a rare recording of Episode 8 of Season 39.
You now watch an exclusive, never seen before episode of Saturday Night Live. In this condensed version of The Sound of Music Live, captain von Trapp introduces his children, including Dooneese, to their new governess Maria played by excellent Kate McKinnon. Dooneese is performed by talented Kristen Wiig carrying small hands. She even makes McKinnon almost break character several times!
At some moment a spell of integrity and common sense dawns upon Dooneese but very shortly afterwards she reverts to her habitual rant.
In between you will find pieces of Lawrence Welk Show also made cold open devoted to the coming autumn season starring hilarious Kristen Wiig as Dooneese and incredibly funny Melissa McCarthy who introduced the fifth mysteriously lost sister to the audience.
The plot of the show shows us Maharelle sisters from the Finger Lakes. Each performance begins by featuring three amiable sisters each seemingly attractive to the main male hero who attempts to flirt with each of them. The fourth sister Dooneese has certain deformities including small baby hands, a protruding tooth and a very large forehead. She usually advances her companion partners with tiny hands and brings much chaos and disorder to the scene.

Just the Things I Love definitely a physiological thriller, something along the lines of The Silence Of The Lambs but with erotic overtones.

I once peed in my skirt IN CHURCH waiting to go to "practice" confession before I made Holy Communion because I was terrified of telling the priest that I had fought with my sister (honestly the only "sin" I could think of at age 7). So a fish coming out of a Catholic girl's skirt can't be that far off! 😂

2:34 is my favorite part when she Gags him with her tiny baby hands while he is singing and then almost throws up. His singing tone immediately turns into a gag reflex and it makes me almost piss myself with laughter every time I see that part. 🤣😂

There are some people who just make characters hilarious. Kristen Wiig is one of them. Dooneese is one of those characters that has me in tears every time I see her. OMG, creative genius!
How did Kate Mckinnon recite that huge line while playing that huge chord and keep the rhythm ALL AT THE SAME TIME?
Because she's not really playing. You can see that the cords aren't moving.

Kate and Kristen were really the reason I ever watched the show during this era. Both are crazy talented and funny but I think Kristen might be my favorite cast member ever.

Ya I don't know. It does seem to be poking fun at birth defects. You don't have to be "looking" for something negative. Its just there. Worst offense is the character and bit isn't even funny and just a copycat of her other char Gilly in a way. Also not a funny char. LOVE WIIG to death but not a fan of those two characters.

lol It is kind of true that in the movie it was almost as if the Van Trapp kids had no concept of music or ever heard it before, not even whistling. It did kind of make no sense to me as a kid watching it.
There father didn’t allow any music in the house and they obeyed him.
Captain Von Trapp only banned music after his wife died, so Gretl was the only child who didn’t have any concept of music whatsoever. Marta was only two years older than Gretl, so her memory of music would have been more fuzzy, but Brigitta would have had music for the first half of her lifetime by the time Maria arrived, so she and all of her older siblings would definitely have felt the loss of music in their household.

"Talented..." with "excellent..."? The best and greatest is Kristen Wiig. No way around it. Kate is without question talented, and up there in the list of the best and greatest top five, but Wiig is just breath-takingly and astoundingly hilarious in everything she did, even when without the excessive makeup and prosthetics.
