Good lord, this is AMAZING. I never thought i'd hear progressive/psychedelic rock influenced music in any big budget, let alone a MARVEL movie! I CANT WAIT to learn this on guitar.
Is your life shit and you wish you could find some release? But are you too poor to afford drugs like LSD, PSP, and shrooms? I have a solution: watch this movie
I've never once properly enjoyed a soundtrack for a superhero film before but this really has enthralled me. Michael giacchino is a God, every soundtrack I've ever heard him create is pure beauty. Can't wait to see what he will create next. Brilliant OST for an even more brilliant film
Giachinno is one of my favorite modern composers ever, had humble beginnings, started to compose for video games, led him to be hired by JJ. Abrams which led him to compose The Incredibles and then it took him to new heights.
Hey guys, remember the Constantine TV show? Remember his theme? It also used the harpsichord and some strings! Now isn't it just a nice coincidence that Marvel's and DC's top-notch magicians have the same elements used in their theme songs?
Wade Wilson I mean, the harpsichord has always been used to make an eerie, uncertain and mystic sound in modern music. And strings are the foundation of most scores, so if anything, you could say that they are both ripping off every composition that tries to do this before them. No need for the usual DC vs. Marvel nonsense, enjoy both!
I thought Constantine's theme used the harpsichord!!! Cheers for that, mate. Btw, if you listen to the Black Sails theme, the main instrument in that is the hurdy-gurdy. It's a stringed instrument dating back to the Middle Ages, but instead of using a bow to make the strings vibrate, it uses a rosined wooden wheel turned by a hand crank.
More like indian, but that's a given considering this theme is homage to the music of the 60s, when musicians were very much into Hindu mysticism. (And drugs).
Since he amazed us with his score for the Incredibles, Michael Giacchino has treated us to film music that is evocative, exciting and beautiful. This surprisingly awesome theme is no exception
I've had three favorite Marvel heroes since I was a kid, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Doctor Strange. I loved the first Spider-Man theme (Danny Elfman), and I also really liked both the movie and TV themes for Daredevil, but I was worried that the score for this wouldn't be memorable. However, the moment I heard a harpsichord, as a musician, I realized that I had nothing to worry about. The wonderful Michael Giacchino is brilliant, and he scored my other favorite comicbook characters theme, Speed Racer. Good work, Michael, and thank you.
This is the most character defining theme song Marvel has ever produced since the MCU has been established.
"Star-Spangled Man" deserves the same praise, too!
And the Ant Man theme, too
That kind of felt personal.

DORMAMMU!!
Best soundtrack, best movie of 2016.
Spacegirl Did you really expect less from Marvel? ;)
the guitar work is just amazing in this theme
Reminds me of the trippy music of the 60's. Which is exactly the feeling Dr. Strange's theme should invoke!
Finally some non-generic Marvel music
Musicaly, Michael Giacchino is the best that has happened to Marvel
This sounds just like early 70's Pink Floyd. Bravo Michael Giacchino!
Is it only me or anyone else think the music has some Bollywood instrumental flavor !!?
Yeah! Just a bit.
Well, most western countries tend to associate Mystic with India for some reason. I dont know how i feel about it, maybe a little offended ? Anyways, the music is gr8!
Yeah it's a bit orientalist.
the Sitar (Indian string instrument) is commonly used in psychedelic music, Doctor Strange has psychedelic origins, I guess that's it...
Well considering the first half of the film is set in Nepal? I guess it fits perfectly :)
I still love the Rod Argent-style Hammond organ solo at 2:22. It's my favorite thing in this soundtrack, and there's A LOT to love in this soundtrack!
retro af, i can dig.
For real, haha. This movie is going to be awesome
Oh, sweet christmas.
I remember when I saw this in the cinema for the first time and heard this music in the credits and thought it was so funky, different and badass. I absolutely love 1:50 it's gorgeous.
I was amazed by this track. For the very first time I was not felt boring while waiting for the post-credit scene.
Good lord, this is AMAZING. I never thought i'd hear progressive/psychedelic rock influenced music in any big budget, let alone a MARVEL movie! I CANT WAIT to learn this on guitar.
A true and majestic mix of rock, baroque and indian music.
This blends so many genre into 1. I'm very impressed with this
I love the instruments used in this. Combined together they have such a distinct tone
Is your life shit and you wish you could find some release? But are you too poor to afford drugs like LSD, PSP, and shrooms? I have a solution:
watch this movie
Ethan Ton damn I was hoping there was
PlayStationPortable
always listen to OSTs after watching movies!! This is one of my best!!! Now listening repeatedly since watching movie!!
When I'm hearing this amazing track I can't wait for the Spider-Man theme😍😄😊😀😃😉☺👍😁✌💪😘👌👏
Rock on buddy💪😊✌👍👌👏😀
John Pouth Who do you want to score "Homecoming"? I'm thinking Steve Jablonsky, Andrew Lockington, or John Powell ;)
Thanks for your comment and I'm thinking of Henry Jackman or Danny Elfman💪😀😄😊😍😉☺👍😘👏
John Pouth Well, Danny Elfman's already scored the Raimi "Spider-Man" trilogy, and I doubt he'll come back. Just saying :P
He has done Avengers Age Of Ultron, so it's still possible if Marvel wants him😍😊😄😀💪✌😁👍👌
Comments: 60% - This is kinda like the ST theme 40% - I've come to bargain
This makes so much sense when you consider The trippy visuals that the movie has.
I've never once properly enjoyed a soundtrack for a superhero film before but this really has enthralled me. Michael giacchino is a God, every soundtrack I've ever heard him create is pure beauty. Can't wait to see what he will create next. Brilliant OST for an even more brilliant film
Who's here after wandavision post credit scene?
Me, though I have to say that the Darkhold looked different in appearance than what we saw before.
@@Bardim18 it's basically saying Agents of SHIELD isn't Canon
@@DaleTuck31 So it's true then? All the previous MCU shows are non-canon anymore?
@@Bardim18 the darkhold changes appearance to whoever wields it
Doctor Strange 2 really did everything to make the main character uncool.
Does anyone else get a serious Sherlock vibe from the harpsichord starting at around 0:35?
Shame they didn't use it in the sequel.
Finaly a MCU film with a real soundtrack that isn't temp music and is memorable. :D
@Raul Victor They really don't sound alike at all.
This might just be my favorite Marvel soundtrack there is!
Giachinno is one of my favorite modern composers ever, had humble beginnings, started to compose for video games, led him to be hired by JJ. Abrams which led him to compose The Incredibles and then it took him to new heights.
Mine too.
I do admit this track is great Michael Giacchino you're a great composer hope to see more music from you in future Marvel films
Definite psychedelic rock vibe to this, to go with Dr Strange's roots as a character. nicely done Marvel
Hey guys, remember the Constantine TV show? Remember his theme? It also used the harpsichord and some strings!
Now isn't it just a nice coincidence that Marvel's and DC's top-notch magicians have the same elements used in their theme songs?
I was thinking the same thing throughout the film regarding the rest of the score!
Wade Wilson maybe even some of the same musicians in the studio ⚡
It has a somewhat Arab/Egyptian vibe in it. Really cool.
+Ahmad Idris Right.
i thought that vibe was Indian but whateves..
More like indian, but that's a given considering this theme is homage to the music of the 60s, when musicians were very much into Hindu mysticism.
(And drugs).
ShadowSumac Mostly drugs.
I think that sitar sound you're hearing is a guitar pedal meant to emulate the sound of a sitar, not the actual instrument itself, just sayin
Since he amazed us with his score for the Incredibles, Michael Giacchino has treated us to film music that is evocative, exciting and beautiful. This surprisingly awesome theme is no exception
Star Trek 2009 crossed with Sherlock. Just a Cumberbatch medley.
Joe Avis No complaints there.
Imagine in infity war, Tony and Strange meet:
Tony: "Dude, lets get one thing straight, I am the only Sherlock here"
Strange: " I beg to differ"
Do you concur, Doctor?
Soooo STRANGE. Love it!
Sounds like a crossover of oriental orchestral music with a bit of psychedelic rock. Amazing!
You forgot baroque music
This is what happens when you hire a composer who isn't a Zimmer drone.
Just a Sherlock drone hehe
Only if you've never heard of Pink Floyd.
What do you mean Zimmer drone?
He means a wannabe Hans Zimmer.
you mean we get a better score?
I need more Doctor Strange in my life
I've had three favorite Marvel heroes since I was a kid, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Doctor Strange.
I really hope Michael Giacchino returns for the next Doctor Strange movie, whenever we get one.
You can put this into BBC's Sherlock and no one would think twice about it.
Definitely inspired by the music in that show.
This song seems like a theme song in Sherlock Holmes series, but I like it anyway, it very suits to him.
and Star Trek. For Khan
Michael Giacchino, welcome to the Marvel family. This is really good !
The beginning actually reminds me A LOT of Sherlock's soundtrack.
Same here
HI CAEDEN
I'm also getting some Pink Floyd and a hint of Rentaghost.
Same here
Anyone else getting a Sherlocky vibe from this?
Matt Gee exactly!
me too I know that I wasn't the only one thinking about that
Matt Gee Omg me too...
same
this sounds way too similar to the bbc sherlock theme and i love it
Yellowsurf That's what I thought when I heard it too!
Well Michael Giacchino and David Arnold are friends.
Why is this so good, it is actually giving me chills.
