@@crAzytitAn4741 There’s definitely more music appreciation videos on the way. And once I pick another theme I like I’ll add another part to the “Musical Masterpiece” series. So the short answer is yes 😂
The most impressive thing about this is that its unlike any other Hans Zimmer works. The man really went from orchestral to dubstep and pulled it off brilliantly.
Orchestra and electronic music always has and always will be an excellent combination that people should not sleep on. There are far too little works that combine these two styles but those ones that exist are great. I've said this once before and I will repeat it here, Electronic music is amazing not just in itself but because of how it is able to intertwine and be combined with basically any other music style, be it classical, jazz or rock music.
In NWH as soon as the Goblin says “Gods don’t have to choose, we take” , you can see Electro immediately change his mind on getting cured. That’s because it completely resonated with what he said by the end of of TASM2. “I’m gonna TAKE back what is rightfully mine. I will control everything, and I will be like a GOD to them” -Electro
Electro is also one of those characters that doesn't know his own potential and doesn't have big enough goals to realize it. This is mainly because of his loser-complex and anxiety. For a guy who's pure energy, he really used it for robbing banks or running errands of higher ups for money. The one time he realized his full potential, he was steam rolling the Avengers until, unfortunately, he came face to face with Thor himself, who straight up sucked him into his hammer and banished him into the sky.
One thing that I found *really* interesting is that during the scene where Max is in the city, surrounded by people and police, he comes to his senses and doesn't understand what's truly happening. Meaning no harm, trying to not hurt anyone as he doesn't really realize that he has become something different, his theme song goes back to the way it was in the beginning. It was a way of saying that Max had came through just for a couple minutes, and when Peter was talking to him, trying to help him, his anger started to get the best of him and his theme goes back to the menace, evil sound.
I rewatched this movie with my kids this morning and was so struck by this exact moment. Spiderman almost diffused the situation before someone fired on Max, and broke his trust of Spidey. And the music so perfectly enhanced the scene that followed, and I was so struck by the impact music has. Hans Zimmer is already top notch but I think the entirety of the team composing this shines through.
At the end of the end of the 12 minute Electro Suite, you hear Max singing quietly, then talking to others like he's in a studio. This is a tiny callback to a deleted scene where he tries to hum happy birthday to remind his mum that it's his birthday and she tells him to stop making noise and he goes "well, I never did take those singing lessons" (something like that). It just makes it even more tragic, because it shows what Max could've been in a happier life.
I think it's more of an Easter Egg since the suite's on the bonus CD. I believe it's Pharrell Williams doing the background voices and that sounds like him and Hans workshopping the piece. That's a fun interpretation though.
@@JB-IGOR Could be. It's hard to find definitive information online. I just know the theme itself is primarily credited to Hans and Pharrell, so I always assumed it was him, but it could be Foxx as well. Listening to it closely again and comparing it to interviews of their speaking voices, it does sound a bit more like Foxx than Pharrell (especially in the "Yeah, okay"), but we also have to consider that it still seems like the voice is being altered a bit. It's also the only part of the song where you can hear him actually speaking and not whispering, so it's hard to get more data. You may very well be right though.
@@GH05T-S0LDI34 It's definitely Pharrel. ua-cam.com/video/8Q7C1ajvEcs/v-deo.html This is a video of film's director, Marc Webb, explaining the process of building the song. They have footage of Pharrell reciting the lines. Really cool stuff🤘
Back in 2014, it was the first theme I was able to get. This soundtrack has taught me about the power of musical storytelling, and how minor and major notes with memorable melodies can describe a character with no words. A year later, in 2015 I also played Undertale for the first time, and has finally learned to appreciate the meaning behind music and see it as a form of art, rather than a catchy tune to dance to
After Undertale I finally understood that music means much more than graphics in a game... Pixel art graphics with perfect music can make such a legendary game but basic music with god graphics makes an uninteresting game.
@@georgegkoumas5026 After Undertale I started treating music in games and movies like I treat character and world descriptions in books. A good music fully illustrates who the character is while you diving deeper into game's atmosphere, and it becomes much more impactful experience to you. It's incredible how Undertale OST is so good people know almost all 100+ of it's tracks by heart
@@serga7486 Well I have been. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the second movie I watched in a cinema while Iron-Man 3 was the first. (Yeah I skipped the first one and I was confused why the characters looked different because all I knew was Tobey's Spider-Man).
Electro is the best and coolest spiderman villain to have appeared on screen. Don’t know why people hate amazing Spider-Man 2 , it is the best spiderman. Movie , only dumb fucks would hate it.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a video explaining what people who see through their ears see- they can truly see a story by listening to something without words. That’s something I only get on a subconscious level- but to see someone truly lay it out like this as I listen…. It’s like seeing through new eyes
I totally get it. It plays with my emotions to give me a story. its because hans zimmer is a god like music producer . in terms of music, he's the best story teller.
If you listen towards the end as well, the voices are gone, signalling that he's no longer affected by social anxiety, and that max has truly died. Electro is born and is told by the amazing music that takes over
Straight fax, honestly I think that max’s theme (his non electro form) is also pretty good and then how it transitions into a more electronic tone is absolutely insane. I also love how Zimmerman makes all the instruments you hear electronic like
The background vocals for anyone interested: "Body's racing, mind is aching" "Pulse is shaky, madness breaking" "Paranoia, self destroyer" "Can't ignore the mental torture" at 0:48 they change to: "Something's happening" "Mind destructing, agony inside of me" "My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia" "Mind is aching, body's racing" "Pulse is shaky, madness breaking" "I can feel the darkness taking over" "Denying, the rising" "The crying, I'm dying" "Something's happening" "Mind destructing, agony inside of me" "My pulse is racing" "It's this paranoia" "Pacify" "The chills inside" "It thrills my mind" "Electrified" at 1:18 they change again: "can't ignore the paranoia" "Pulse is shaky, madness breaking" "Agony inside of me, my pulse is racing" "Mental torture" at around 2:57 it returns as such: "Something's happening" "Mind destructing, agony inside of me" "My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia" "Something's happening" "Mind destructing, agony inside of me" "My pulse is racing, it's this paranoia" "Denying, the rising" "The crying, I'm dying" after that, the chorus repeats this: "Denying, the rising" "The crying, I'm dying" Then it ends once the beat drop kicks in.
This is what goes inside the mind of some of my favorite villains, simply because of their backstory. Joker, Electro, Probably a whole lotta others, that would take me forever to name. Because these are social outcasts, that are isolated, odd ones out, society ignores them, people hate them. Creating an insanity that tells them, I need power to be noticed. Thus... Beauty.
I’ve always referred to this song as anxiety incarnate, the little stinging voices in your head whispering negativity, how everyone hates you, everyone’s judging you how you have nobody and you’re alone but then it takes it all a step further, devolving into anger and giving in to the misery into just a crescendo of wrath making the whole world pay for how horrible you felt, this song is a freaking masterpiece a real banger
as someone who knows those feelings all too well, i think that’s why i felt so UNCOMFORTABLE listening to this song. it’s so easy to want to turn your back on everything. that said, i have a ton of respect for artists who can make me uncomfortable, i think it’s awesome haha.
This doesn’t necessarily relate to Electro’s theme but I used to always be under the impression that Max Dillon’s story was just a tragic tale of man being pushed to his breaking point because people didn’t treat him with common decency. But upon revisiting TAS2, I realize Electro is essentially a parallel of Spider-Man. In the comics (before the spider-bite), despite being quiet and well-mannered, it’s mentioned that if Peter had the power to, he would have exacted revenge on everyone that bullied him. However, his change in thinking was altered due to the death of his Uncle Ben. In the TAS2, Max Dillon is portrayed the same way as Peter Parker normally is; intelligent but nerdy which causes him to get overlooked and ridiculed. However, when he’s confronted with life-changing power, Max makes the decision to seek revenge because there is no “Uncle Ben” event for him. It’s kinda the same narrative that was used in the first Toby Spider-Man movie and I feel that if that narrative was pursued more, TASM2 could have been a lot better. Not sure if this was an obvious point, but I thought it was something worth sharing. Also good job on the videos! Please keep them coming!
That's how Spiderman from earth 11638 was. Uncle Ben didn't died so he never learned about responsability and then he became a celebrity, he did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and so he bring other spidermans to steal their powers and then kill them. Then he died and became the Ghost Rider
Maybe for Max, the "Uncle Ben" event could be him coming to realize that spiderman doesn't care about him, that's when the friendly neighbour spiderman died for him
I always loved this theme. The goodness slowly becoming consumed by loneliness, then the tension building up, repressed anger slowly surfacing. And then the sheer power and rage when it finally gets unleashed. I've listened to it for years. It's fantastic.
Zimmer’s ability to create music that tells a story or fits a persona is unmatched, everything about this piece highlights Max’s character and enhances it in such a way that you can pinpoint the exact things happening in Electro’s mind, that one little snap can unleash the beast
I always felt that if the movie focused entirely on Electro & Spider-man instead of trying to force in so many other characters & sub-plots it would had been a way better super hero movie.
I love how right after he got electrocuted and the music was becoming sinister, we can still hear his clarinet, but the clarinet is slowly fading away, meaning he still could have been saved, he didn't immediately turn evil when he got electrocuted, he was just very unlucky.
Even at Times Square, he was confused about what was happening with him and around him and when the people around him misunderstood him, he lost all hopes of redemption. He turned to evil and that became kind of his redemption
Then them damn cops shot a scared guy who needed help. And the fear turned to anger. The anger to hate. The hate- you get where this takes you: the dark side.
As someone who identified heavily with Max in this movie(he was the only good part), no. No, Max wasn't a kind guy. He didn't have any chance to be kind. He was just there, too much a part of the background to hurt or help anyone.
What is really cool about Electro is that he is constantly getting stronger. He absorbs energy everywhere he goes, sucking up almost all the power in New York to the point of almost becoming pure energy himself. And that isn't even his maximum! When he gets sent to the MCU, he absorbs the residual energy from the Infinity Stones in the air, which allows him to form a new body that is unconsciously modeled to look like his ideal self rather than the nerd he used to be. Then when he gets the Arc Reactor, his potential power level skyrockets. If they hadn't unplugged him and sent him home, he could have potentially become one of the most powerful beings alive.
Exactly. If he reaches his true potential, he'd be probly unstoppable, or almost. He could destroy the whole planet & almost everything wif enough energy (& enough energy heat). Electro's no one to laugh at.
I had the same theory about how his new look is basically the idealized version of himself. Though never thought about the infinity stones part, interesting
@@jlit5215 It makes sense. They say in Endgame that using the stones sends out a ripple of energy across the planet. So the Snap, the Blip, and Tony's sacrifice basically saturated the atmosphere with cosmic energy that simple doesn't exist in Max's version of Earth. Absorbing that power may have also allowed him to gain some of it's properties, for example the Reality Stone's power may have allowed him to form his new ideal body.
Probly the most deadly Spider-Man villain from wot Inno. It just needs to reach its true potential to become it & be truly terrifying. They'll never call 'im Sparky or Sparkles ever again.
That could totally represent the hatred he has for spiderman, like the voices in his head but instead it’s the same melody but electrified over and over
Somethings happening Mind destructing Agony inside of me My pulse is rising Mental torture Self destroyer Can't ignore The paranoia Denying the rising I'm crying I'm dying He lied to me He shot at me He hates on me He's using me Fragility Electricity Afraid of me He's dead to me That Spider-Man he is my enemy!!
@AlexMorayfield they don't. There is a better one in these comics that fit perfectly. Not once does this say "that spiderman he is my enemy" that's the corniest line ever "Alex morayfield" 😭😭😭😭
I never watched this video before thinking it was just going to be a commentary about Electro and his theme and some behind-the-scene details or something. But this honestly surprised me - no narrator, no unwanted stuff, just the pure music and captions to explain everything without interrupting the flow - like a tourist guide explaining everything on a safari lol. Imma subscribe :)
I love how didn't just perfectly explain the theme but also Max Dillon himself. A lot of people didn't understand him and claimed he was a badly-written villain and claimed his motivation didn't make sense.
@@Venom-rr1vg Harry was quite poorly written, his motivation in the 3rd act makes no sense. He asks Spider-Man to give him his blood and he says no because it might make things worse. Then when Harry injects himself it literally does make things worse and turns him into Green Goblin. There is literally no reason for him to be angry at Spider-Man at the end of the film because what Spider-Man said was 100% correct
@@Rozveree I think because he was dying he was desperate. So i think when he found out that Peter was Spider-Man he felt betrayed by his friend and he thought that he would let him die. Or something like that idk. But i agree, although i actually liked the character i think he was a little poorly written.
Its honestly nice to see people finally appreciate the TASM movies after years of them being verbally shat on by everyone. I thought I was the only person to like them back in 2014
@@markszakallas6677 I'm the opposite. TASM1 is good but 2 is fucking fire. the movement, the cinematography, the fluidity, the effects, the music. nothing has come close in terms of Spider-Man media since tbh.
Wanted to add to the notes: At roughly 1:15, the voices pick up, and this reflects how the social anxiety and pressures of the world around him are pushing Max towards a more aggressive way out, that he's losing his ability to tolerate the rejection he experiences. This is reflected throughout the pre-electrocution section. Then at 1:51, when the violin cuts in, it reflects how Max is feeling about the fact that even on his birthday, nothing has changed, and he's still being treated as the same worthless person that everyone usually treats him as. This is amplified by the increasing volume and clarity of the voices of anxiety in the background. At 3:10, when the voices return as far more coherent and individual, it shows that Max has broken. He is no longer capable of tolerating the abuse levelled towards him, and he is now dispelling the cohort of anxiety with anger, reducing them from incessant and collective to temporary, individual and coherent. Things that are easier to focus on, and therefore easier to destroy. With the operatic transformation at 3:14, it shows that Max is now harnessing those fears and anxieties as empowering sources. It is also shown that he no longer cares about any of them, thinking them weak, by allowing them to become collective again, but they've all lost their voices, and simply become choral singing. And with the drop at 3:36-3:41, with all sounds disappearing except for a sizzling pulse of electricity and a high pitched train-track-screeching-like drone, it shows, like you said, how the fearful, anxious and weak Max Dilon has now been so utterly broken by the world around him and the electrocution, that his old personality has been obliterated. But on top of that, it displays how he is now using all of the things that held him down in the past to obliterate the one thing he views as the ultimate challenge, the epitome of his past abuse - Spiderman. And beyond 3:41, it reflects pure, utter power and emotional coherence and hatred of Spiderman, as well as the freedom and sense of rising above all else that he had been held down by. Electro's final section is a pure expression of hatred and power being focused and directed towards the destruction of one thing.
I want to take a minute to acknowledge how good this review really is . You letting us hearing the music and telling us without talking over the music . And I thank you
We’ve all seen “the silent kid” memes, but if you really think about it the people who are the loudest and throw their weight around have no power whatsoever. It’s the people who hold back, keep everything inside, and when they finally snap they are truly a force to be reckoned with.
This is what Dubstep should be, it's not just cool _wub wub_ all the time, this song feels like it makes progress and and each measure sounds more distinctive rather than a subtle change of noise, just like a lot of real songs.
Dubstep is good for parties.. i dont think songs with depth and meanings are meant to be partied to lmao. Imagine trying to party and suddenly you feel sympathetic to a man who got electrocuted
Might wanna check out Parallel Processing by Danimal Cannon & Zef (the song, not the album). It's among the best EDM I've ever heard, and uses a lot of what you're describing. It's 8mins, so please set out some time to really listen.
@@acatcheckingitstemperature394 Your right, dubstep is more party-type music, but I think that "story songs" can still be dubstep and really moving. But also yeah, I don't want to go to a depressing party lol.
You can feel how uneasy and “out of place” the whole vibe of the theme feels. It just has this sense of suspense that keeps me at the edge of my seat. That is UNTIL the electric part hits. Where we can tell Max’s villain arc begins. Where he comes out of his shell and rises with power.
As a kid the theme made me cry for him. I could see bro's pain and suffering each time i heard the theme. Tho I had to watch the movie more than 3 times to get and connect all details
I think that's kind of unfair and reductive. The movie definitely had a few too many plotlines going which helped make it feel like there was not much character development, but there was
he is the most powerful in term of damage of the sinister six.The smartest is Doc Ock . He is like Sandman is sand but sand itself cant damage people. Electric itself can make people go bye bye if they touch it
@CytalDeArtist and electro is so strong because of technology. The humans creation was the downfall of them and now he's able to harness their perfections and make it their flaws 😎
Ye, that one gives me chills. It's basically like a loudest shout or scream a man can make, sounds so sharp to the ear, yet so faint you can barely hear it. And that fact that it can be barely heard is the chilling part.
@@TheBigKaijuIt’s there. If you have earbuds or headphones, the screaming can be most noticeable from the right side. The screaming is probably really faint to emphasize the point of nobody being there for Max, even when transforming into Electro.
I also love how the lyrics are "They hate me, they shot me, they don't like me, they despise me" If you've ever been truly angry to where you're about to snap, this is how it feels. All those thoughts rapidly going through your head until you eventually snap, which is where the dubstep drop comes in
Villains can always be made out of anybody out there. Even if they were nothing but a harmless poor soul like Max here, and this music tells his transformation of becoming what he is now incredibly
People have the potential to be both good or bad and their environment plays a major role in deciding between the two. Even Hitler and Stalin had very painful childhoods and were abused by their father's on a regular basis..
3:13 at the same point the music switches to opera, we also get these consistent pulses of electricity on all the rests, which sounds to me like electric footsteps from a literal living power surge. I love this song.
Can we appreciate this bit at 2:20? Has to be my favorite little snippet of this theme. Prior to it, the calm and timid-sounding clarinet (Max's theme) _contrasts_ with the unhinged strings and spooky distorted voices (Electro's theme). But here, the clarinet changes key, merging into and becoming one with the voices, sounding sour and sinister... Before the drop, when it disappears completely, and only the electronic instruments are left.
I like how someone the music sounds like electricity coercing through his body but also has a mixture of himself in it, the subtle keys playing increase before it explodes into electricity, but even when that plays you can hear his paranoia growing, the power getting to his head before it consumed him and made him go fully evil, this is why max dillion/electro was my favorite parts in the amazing Spider-Man movie
Finally someone who explains their theory with caption. No cuts, only caption. Saves the time and effort and gives you the idea. Simply well done and made OMG
It's rare to see a video like that that does both explaining why this song is masterpiece whilst peacefully showing the song ( why ). Great job! I absolutely love the video!
This also explains why electro was different in No way home. He was electro before he was teleported to the MCU. As electro max was confident and a bit cocky, he was given power an insane amount of power. Plus he was kicking Spider-Man’s ass before. Max has grown confident and his darker angrier side has shown itself. The coward max Dillion is gone, only the power hungry electro
@@artloverivy what I like about Electro as he becomes obsessed with the energy in the MCU universe since it’s more powerful than the universe he’s from, and while he decided to be cured, he goes back to villainy after the Green Goblin’s manipulation. If you think about it, the Goblin’s speech on how he and the other 3 don’t need to be fixed affected Electro the most because he wanted to be seen for who he is and he thinks that his powers is the key to it.
It absolutely blew my mind when I heard it on the cinema. Besides being awesome, it was just astonishing how they so PERFECTLY arranged the action on par of the music. I don't think I've ever seen something so well put together
Max is the perfect definition of modern day introvert. Struggles to put himself among society, fit in, and be appreciated. While the rest of the world denies his thoughts and hard work. To make it worse, society puts men on a high standard, so all that pressure keeps building, and building, and building. Until finally he can't take it anymore, and he decides to show the world how much anger is built inside him. Compare him to anyone who has been pushed over that edge and gone that far off.

I really shouldn't be listening to this in the middle of my depression, given my current lack of a self-image and how I can relate to Max... But it also feels so good, and the music is just fire.
I also like how fast and almost scatterbrained the baseline is, and how unchanging it is. It’s reminds me almost of a negative ruminative thought loop with no way out. It’s as if he doesn’t see any escape from the the way people treat him. The longer those thoughts loop for, the more corrosive and intense they get, and that’s exactly what happens in this piece. It’s like in your mind where you draw an unwanted conclusion from the way you view things, and you can’t find any other way to look at it, so it just becomes, this = this, and there is no alternative. It’s like how ants have a circle of death when they lose their trail and keep running in circles until they eventually die.
What I also love about this theme is how it’s somewhat difficult to make out what the whispers are actually saying at the start , making it sound muddled and confusing which you could say pretty accurately represents the quiet voices in the back of a socially anxious persons head: difficult to listen to but hard to ignore. But they get louder and clearer as the song picks up it’s pace.
@@avokka I love it, to me the second movie is always the best in all spiderman series. octopus, electro and now mysterio. To me these are the best 3 movies.
That’s not saying much. CGI looking bad due to the era stopped being a valid excuse in 2010, it should always look good, and Hans is the GOAT movie composer
@@AndreyGP Mysterio was great but No Way Home, IMO, was a better movie as it finally took Ironman out of the picture and brought Spiderman down to the level he is supposed to be. Also, JJ...it has a lot more JJ :)
the amazing spiderman movies had a lot of potential to be great films, they had some pretty neat concepts and ideas that would've definitely worked if they were executed properly.
Absolutely. To date I still think Electro could've been an incredible and memorable villain if they had given him more character development. How perfect this theme is for a sociopathic badass villain. They just didn't make it work as it should
tasm movies aren't as bad as everyone says they are. very entraining and visually stunning films with great scores and CGI that still surpasses Marvel today
I think this theme is better than the movie. The idea that Electro is terrified his condition will kill him (‘I’m dying!’) is a much more haunting concept than just him being a glory hound
*Denying:* Everyone denies my existence. Denying my dignity and respect as a human being. *The Rising:* The rising of a monster created from pain and abuse. *The crying:* I'm constantly crying out; no one hears me. *I'm dying:* I'm losing myself, I'm losing my grip. I hate what I'm becoming, but I hate them even more. They killed me. *Spider-Man killed me...*
there's also a part where spiderman is trying to help him (the time square scene) but all he can see is spiderman is fighting him. Along wth the tension rising in the scene, the voices in the music also starts to intensify and when I listen to it.. it sometimes tells him that spiderman is "Lying" and that he is the Enemy. This Theme really caught me eversince the first time I watched this in cinema
The buildup and backstory was perfectly done. Everything of Max's character was what fans wanted from the start of the original movie with William Dafoe. The sympathy to their cause and simply their inner struggle that realistically led them to who they become. Although I was a fan of the original fist movies the fact they kept this inspiration to these films kept me hooked.
@@OblivionFalls tbf, the lyrics are pretty hard to understand. It's more about having the sounds of human voices present in the background. The actual lyrics are like an easter egg
I have loved this theme ever since I first heard it. I just absolutely love all of the little choices that go into it. Like the thumping that comes in around 1:20ish. Not only is it a sound that grips the audience and prepares for the break as it's building, but it's also so nice due to being Max's new flow. His initial theme is light, cowardly in it's meekness, always refusing to make itself heard as Max himself continues to take shit from the world. After the accident, we have this new thumping to represent Electro's new beating pulse, the new life in his veins. He's been reborn. And this is where the whispers begin. Where Max's identity and Electro's identity begin to meet. The whispers are Electro, telling Max what he should be feeling and doing while Max himself is lost in the thumping, lost in the white noise, lost in the sensory overload of everything. (Think of when he gets to Times Square and we see through his eyes. Everything is new, and Max is hungry for it) But then as Andrew and the police's mishaps begin to harass him, Electro begins to gain traction on Max. The pulse quickens and slows, with Electro's voice getting louder and louder until that crucial moment. The thumping stops. We're left with this clinging noise as if scratching on a chalkboard. And in his scene Max begins to speak. in this moment Max begins to echo what Electro is telling him. They lied to me, they shot at me, they hate me. And finally Max and Electro converge, Max being absorbed into Electro's unescapable mass as they vent their anger, their frustration, their beef with the world on one single target. That Spider-Man. He is my enemy. And then the beat drops, giving us the epitome of Electro's theme and representing his acceptance of madness and being awful, as his music produces the screams he wishes to shock out of the world. It's his birthday after all, and he's here to blow out his candles~ Edit: Just actually seen all of your commentary about the song. I hope people don't think I just copycatted, heh. I just listen to this song way too much
This feels less like the annoying dubstep people claim it is. This is looking into the inner thoughts and psyche of a character, a character who has never been treated with an ounce of decency from anyone his entire life. Max is still a kind person, but experiences so much self-doubt and paranoia because of how people treat him. Eventually, this takes a turn when he's acknowledged by someone who is so famous, and a hero, no less. He begins to worship that person, imagining that they're best friends because of a few quick words that were shared. Spider-Man probably didn't think too much about what he had said to him, or how it might affect him. But when the people around him continue to push him around, he experiences a change, that gives him incredible power. He doesn't see it as a good thing at first, he's scared and confused, but it causes other people to see him. To *notice* him. When his hero tries to help figure out what's happening to him, he tells him: "They're not going to shoot you. Hey, you guys, this is my buddy, Max!" But because Spider-Man wasn't giving the orders, a fatal misunderstanding causes Max to lash out. His hero has to intervene, he wants to help Max, but knows that he's dangerous. This creates a turning point. Everyone is rooting for Spider-Man, and booing at Max. The positive attention (or so he thought) has been shifted. In Max's eyes, Spider-Man never cared about him, and only cared about selfishly protecting his image as a hero. He promised they wouldn't shoot at him, and they did. Max turns, and realizes that with this power, he can enact revenge on everyone who has ever wronged him, starting with Spider-Man. Unlike before, he is a man with power, and is out to make the rest of the world feel powerless, like he did for so long. "A world without power-.." "A world without mercy-.." "A world without Spider-Man-.." Max Dillon is dead, *now there is only Electro.*
The Dubstep is not annoying at all, honestly it feels like the most Dubstep from good Dubstep artists, flux pavilion, Neo, datsik, excision. This movie came out at the peak of Dubstep (for me) and used it wonderfully.

this song is incredible i listened to the first couple seconds and then skipped to around 4mins and was shocked by how drastic the tone of the song had shifted and how different it sounded and i needed to know how the song got to that point, so i listened to the whole thing and... goddamn, if i were to describe this as a single sentence it would be: *the madness creeps in one way or another*. this song sounds like a descent into madness while trying to keep cool and pretend everything is and will be fine, until at 3:37 where the realization is made that everything is not ok and will not be ok, and the ones responsible for it are going to pay the orchestral parts representing the thoughts of "its going to be ok" as the whispers of doubt creep further and further until the orchestral part climaxes conflicting with the whispers of doubt, until its overtaken and gone completely, and the whispers and distorted notes and sounds take over from there perfectly represents Max's entire transformation to Electro
Yeah comparing the beginning and ending of the song really shows you how much it changes during the portrayal of the same character. It’s awesome stuff.

the way it drops at 1:17 always gives me chills it sounds so fucking good, even though the movie is a bit of a mess there's some parts of it that truly shine and the soundtrack is probably the best aspect, my favourite spiderman ost from any media
Exactly, I can't remember any memorable tracks from Tom Holland's spider man. Apart from his main theme and the pretty epic spider man theme song in the opening of homecoming. TASM 2 on the other hand..
I listen to this song whenever I’m going for a run. I just jog when the instruments are low but when it gets intense I start sprinting as fast as I can 🏃♂️
8 years later and this theme still gives me absolute chills whenever I hear it. The vibe of Andrew’s Spider-Man was so much more real and dark than the other spidermen’s movies (still love Toby and Tom’s though), and all tiny tiny details like this soundtrack (and the insane graphics and quality in TASM2) make it so unique.

I heard that while I was editing the suite and didn’t really know what to make of it but I really like your interpretation! Poor Max 💔
Kinda also how Dr Octopus is in Spectacular Spiderman, the comics and other adaptationa

He was handling all three Spider-Man with ease. Dude could basically teleport too.

Bro dropped the hardest electro edit and thought no one would notice.
Wanted to add to the notes:
At roughly 1:15, the voices pick up, and this reflects how the social anxiety and pressures of the world around him are pushing Max towards a more aggressive way out, that he's losing his ability to tolerate the rejection he experiences.

I still wonder how they're able to describe and actually interpret what the music is telling us, it's like they can communicate with music.
I would LOVE for Hanz to be a dubstep artist.
Dubstep is good for parties.. i dont think songs with depth and meanings are meant to be partied to lmao. Imagine trying to party and suddenly you feel sympathetic to a man who got electrocuted
I noticed that… it’s just not random sounds, he uses the sound in the best moment :)

So badass how max was this weak, bullied person that nobody noticed and then he turns into this masterpiece of a villain⚡
For me Max is a very tragic character. I always get sad when I think about him.
he is the most powerful in term of damage of the sinister six.The smartest is Doc Ock .
He is like Sandman is sand but sand itself cant damage people. Electric itself can make people go bye bye if they touch it

I wouldn't say masterpiece, more like could have been better.
I like that at 2:40 it sounds like a muffled scream, he definitely cried for help but no one heard him like always
I can't hear it. Maybe that's also the point?
@@TheBigKaiju I heard a faint sound like bubbles gurgling, it might not have been intentional but it does kind of sound like him trying to scream
I hear It too, damn i got goosebumps 😅
Ye, that one gives me chills. It's basically like a loudest shout or scream a man can make, sounds so sharp to the ear, yet so faint you can barely hear it. And that fact that it can be barely heard is the chilling part.
@@TheBigKaijuIt’s there. If you have earbuds or headphones, the screaming can be most noticeable from the right side. The screaming is probably really faint to emphasize the point of nobody being there for Max, even when transforming into Electro.
I also love how the lyrics are "They hate me, they shot me, they don't like me, they despise me"
If you've ever been truly angry to where you're about to snap, this is how it feels. All those thoughts rapidly going through your head until you eventually snap, which is where the dubstep drop comes in
I call it "circling the drain" you force yourself to stay positive or in good spirits but its a self feeding cycle down the train of anger.
Drives me nuts when people say Electro's aggression came out of nowhere in the first confrontation. It was all in the lyrics. You just had to listen.

If you listen closely you Will hear the voices say “denial” and “paranoia” at 3:00
Paranoia
Self Destroyer
Can't ignore the mental torture
Man just needed a hug. Be friendly people, you never know who is standing on the edge.
Villains can always be made out of anybody out there. Even if they were nothing but a harmless poor soul like Max here, and this music tells his transformation of becoming what he is now incredibly
Absolutely!😌
People have the potential to be both good or bad and their environment plays a major role in deciding between the two.
Even Hitler and Stalin had very painful childhoods and were abused by their father's on a regular basis..
Wow. The song told his story. That's why it's brilliant. The tone fell deeper and deeper, just like Electro did.
"man. gotta be careful where you fall"
3:13 at the same point the music switches to opera, we also get these consistent pulses of electricity on all the rests, which sounds to me like electric footsteps from a literal living power surge. I love this song.
it also is dynamic. Left to right. Change. Movement. Progress.
Same !!

His innocency....
But his evil theme is badass
He is awesome
Good he's back
i love this moment in the movie so much 3:37 when the music goes quiet for a moment and the drop from the beat comes too wild simply
Very much so. Despite looking like his human self, Jamie Foxx made sure to play him VERY differently from how he was before getting electrocuted.

That's cyclical paranoia in the man's head 🤷🏽♂️
What I also love about this theme is how it’s somewhat difficult to make out what the whispers are actually saying at the start , making it sound muddled and confusing which you could say pretty accurately represents the quiet voices in the back of a socially anxious persons head: difficult to listen to but hard to ignore. But they get louder and clearer as the song picks up it’s pace.
Hans Zimmer will always be one of my favorite composers of all time. His work on Christopher Nolan's films, especially Interstellar, is phenomenal.

Absolutely. To date I still think Electro could've been an incredible and memorable villain if they had given him more character development. How perfect this theme is for a sociopathic badass villain. They just didn't make it work as it should
I still think the amazing Spider-Man movies are a bit better imo but too each his own. Tom H movies are still pretty good
tasm movies aren't as bad as everyone says they are. very entraining and visually stunning films with great scores and CGI that still surpasses Marvel today
You made me watch the movie for the first time and whenever I heard this theme I started crying.

The music speaks for itself. And it's really a masterpiece.
If the music spoke for itself... when they did they feel the need to add lyrics? lol

It's his birthday after all, and he's here to blow out his candles~
Edit: Just actually seen all of your commentary about the song. I hope people don't think I just copycatted, heh. I just listen to this song way too much
Oh my

Goosebumps started from 3:00
This feels less like the annoying dubstep people claim it is. Hey, you guys, this is my buddy, Max!"
But because Spider-Man wasn't giving the orders, a fatal misunderstanding causes Max to lash out.
"A world without power-.."
"A world without mercy-.."
"A world without Spider-Man-.."

The Dubstep is not annoying at all, honestly it feels like the most Dubstep from good Dubstep artists, flux pavilion, Neo, datsik, excision. This movie came out at the peak of Dubstep (for me) and used it wonderfully.
I’ve remembered electro’s score since the movie came out. It was actually mr favorite part of the entire film- I even still listen to it occasionally for fun
Another cool detail to notice:
Around the end of the song the voices start using "Me" alot, which shows max inst shy anymore
honestly the commentary elevated the listening experience for me and as the build to the drop happened I turned up my system volume, the UA-cam player volume, and my physical headphone volume all to create an electrifying experience
this song is incredible
i listened to the first couple seconds and then skipped to around 4mins and was shocked by how drastic the tone of the song had shifted and how different it sounded and i needed to know how the song got to that point, so i listened to the whole thing and...
goddamn, if i were to describe this as a single sentence it would be: *the madness creeps in one way or another*.
this song sounds like a descent into madness while trying to keep cool and pretend everything is and will be fine, until at 3:37 where the realization is made that everything is not ok and will not be ok, and the ones responsible for it are going to pay
the orchestral parts representing the thoughts of "its going to be ok" as the whispers of doubt creep further and further until the orchestral part climaxes conflicting with the whispers of doubt, until its overtaken and gone completely, and the whispers and distorted notes and sounds take over from there
perfectly represents Max's entire transformation to Electro
Yeah comparing the beginning and ending of the song really shows you how much it changes during the portrayal of the same character. It’s awesome stuff.
