Idk, I can see both sides. It's not like these people are pawning their items, they are selling them and getting immediate cash for it. It might not be retail price, but if the item isn't worth a lot, you still need to find the time to actively sell the item, answer questions, get it done up looking nice, finding a buyer, and doing how many other things? It can be hard for individuals with no knowledge to do these things. Some people just want cash out the door. That said.... The one with the Wright brothers was really dumb. I love how no one realizes the pawn shop is just a "middle-man", looking to make money from you. Take it directly to a collector and keep all the $$$ for yourself.
Everyone realizes that. That is literally the entire point of pawn shops. In all of history pawning was the #1 form of loaning money until the mid 1900s when banks took the lead. What Rick says in so many of these episodes is true. He has to make money. He's even told people before that they could make more auctioning it. But considering that there's no point in him buying a $100 item for $100 because he won't make any money, he's not going to offer that. The business would be completely inviable, it's not just breaking even but losing money because you have to pay for the space, the bills, licenses, employee salaries, insurance, and sometimes they're getting fake items and getting items stolen. People bring things to a pawn shop because a pawn shop is very likely to buy the item. Most of these people have already tried to sell their items and failed. Selling to a pawn shop is perhaps the worst value you can get for an item. People know that, so there's a reason they are there. The reason is they couldn't find a buyer for the price they wanted. If they took the time to find a collector who wanted it, yes they could get more, but they want the money now or dont' want to put up with the hassle.
Everyone understands this. A Pawn Shop gives you money there and then but you often get 50% of the value. Have you ever tried to sell a period military jacket? Do you honestly think you could find the collector online and make a better deal? There are no website listing collectors. Most people wait for auction houses that have military auctions maybe once or twice a year. Still, you are then relying on two people wanting the item and bidding against each other or it could go for less than the pawnshop. Just looking at eBay you can see how things can go way undervalue if they don't leave a reserve. Getting the values the experts give are not easy and most people are too busy to do the work even if they can figure out how.

This guy has more buddies and friends then people I’ve met my entire lif e
Whenever there is a cutscene of Rick saying "I wanna buy it", he always lowballs exceptionally.
*exponentially 😂💀
Appraiser: “Its worth 15k”
Rick: “best i can do is 25 cents and a bag of Doritos”
Make it cool ranch and we have a deal 🤝
THAT'S A HUGE RISK THO
11:52 Right on... that was nice of that guy to give the bucks to his folks
11:51 "I made 1650 on the Bango today and I'm going to give the money to my mother and father so they can enjoy it. ". It almost made me cry. Your a true angel
"Hey, do you guys have a bathroom around here?"
Rick: "I don't know, let me call in my bathroom expert"
Drew: "Retail wise, it's at least $15k."
Rick: "I think Drew's figure might have been a little bit high."
Now I understand why we don't see Drew anymore. Rick only keeps the lowballer experts.
Conspiracy theories aren't cool
Juliens Auction House estimated those signatures at $2-4k. The lot sold for $1,280.
So, guy, was it a bit high or nah?
@@Chooopy what you mean? That’s what Rick sold them for?
@@bhillis99 Yes. The auction house did their own estimates on the signatures pre-sale and came out around $2-4k. The signatures eventually sold for only $1,280 at auction.
Guarantee they've got under the table deals and the "experts" get handouts for lowball valuations.
Watching Corey and Rick ray teaming that guy for the weight brothers stuff was such an art. They literally took turns taking money away from him
Expert: the value is around $20000 at auction
Rick: I'll give you 50 bucks.
Rick: It's so hard to price things when there's only one of them.
The Mona Lisa: Not really.
Mona Lisa* am I a joke to you *rick* it's hard to price you
Hardly a fair comparison Mona Lisa is an art work and done by one of the art worlds GOAT also other works have been sold by the artist the jacket is far less impressive when the wearer didn’t make it just wore it
Hey, I have a ten dollar bill here, would you give me seven dollars for it. It is worth ten. Rick: I can't go higher than two dollars and fifty cents.
rick knew a criminal & had him framed
I respect the guy who gives the money to his father and mother 👏
Rick - Calls in expert for appraisal
Also Rick - “Yeah na i think the appraisal was a little high”
I'm Still watching 2021 i love pawstar its best 😊
First time I've seen Mark without his trademark hat
He’s so old and famous now he just put it on display in his own museum 😂

He looks like the old white marshmallow guy from Jurassic Park.

Orville Wright signed memorabilia seller got robbed
What seller doesn't get robbed?
This does seem like one of the biggest low-balls I've seen on the show though lol
Well its not called a robbery if the seller lets himself! LOL
Yeah but he was stupid enough to take it so he definitely deserved it.
Literally baldy established precedence to not trust his "experts". He even said he thought the Orville Wright valuation was high. Used to the "experts" being on his side lowballing no doubt.
Expert: item is worth 15,000
Seller: ok I know you have to make money, I’ll do 10,000
Rick: thats not gonna happen.
best I can do is 5 bucks and a stick of used gum
@@Andrey0153 😂
I find it hilarious when the customers have 0 knowledge on their item or very little, and after the "experts" confirm their half belief and when they dislike the new amount given by Rick they'll be like "yo it's one of a kind." Or "this item is so valuable historically" 😂😂😂
Someone should make a Rick doll with a pull string that says catch phrases like:
- "Hahahahahahhahahah" (his obnoxious laugh)
- "and not a penny more"
- "I'm taking a big risk here"
- " I wouldn't know if this item was $0.25 or $25,000"
- " would you mind if I had someone take a look at this"
Then walk into his pawn shop and try to sell it to him
$500 for that watch seems super cheap. I would've guessed a few grand at least.
I just now got on that clip as I read your comment.
Rick brings in an expert because he doesn’t know the value. Goes onto say “the expert is a bit high” 🥴
Seller: it’s worth at least 4k
Rick: man, I gotta make money on it.
Seller: $200 and it’s yours
Where's that at?
Covid: you will get a fever of 103.3
Rick: best I can do is 99.1.
🤣🤣🤣
The Wright Brothers documents owner is a terrible negotiator. 😂
That guy selling the banjo and giving money to his parents ..is great ..he sure was raised right

This is great I'm always smiling with this show, thanks to everyone involved. 😊
Me: "I got a lock of Jesus Christ's hair."
Rick: "I can give you my spare change from lunch and a lock of my hair, and I'll be taking a big risk here."

I don't think a real biblical artifact could be priced, even a demonstrably real one like the James Ossuary or empty tomb.
Most important tidbit on Mr. T didn't get mentioned. He was also a military veteran.

The Orville Wright sale was shocking.
That guy should've said bye bye right after the $3000 offer
Honestly if this was me and i had something valuable to sell I would go in to promote/advertise it instead of selling. Plus you get a professional to look at it for FREE to see if it's legitimate and how much it's worth. I understand you would have to spend a little more to auction it but you seriously can't be losing as much as what these people are selling for to these crooks lol
agreed but pawn shops are quick cash
it’s vegas they just wanna ball out
And by the time you do that whatever problem you had in life that made you go to the pawn shop in the First place would have ruined your life already🤦. People don't go to pawnshops to make top dollar they go because they are in need of quick money.
