    Wonderful series idea! Love seeing what stands out on the UE marketplace, and if it helps the creator and yourself then this is a: Win, Win, Win!

    I like this.
    Knowing how the code is setup is one of the biggest issues with buying blueprint assets. For example, knowing that this package uses actor references and data tables is increases my willingness to buy.

    Hey Matt, personally I would prefer to see this kind of video referred to as a showcase, rather than a review, since you've been incentivised to produce the video by the asset creator. Also, I do hope you don't do these too often. While it can be helpful to know about what is available on the asset store, I primarily watch your channel to learn how to do things myself, not where I can purchase a ready-made system.
    That being said, I do really enjoy watching your videos - You are always to the point and break things down really well :)

      Very good idea because i have this asset and it cause alot of money in my currency (it is about 1 month house rent). And I have joined to the discord server too. The asset is looking very good but it is not easy to customise the system. The developer is very busy and he hasnt enough tutorials about some basics. For example how to add quest? - if there would be document it takes 1 minute but when you try to understand what is going on in the code it took my 2 days. Or changing the mesh of the characters is really nightmare. There are many people have their projcts are broken after they tried to change AI in a custom model. Simply retargeting doesnt work in this system . If there would be tutorial or a document it would take max 5 minutes to tweak but searching and try to understand the complex communication of the components makes the project crazy. Jon is a good guy and he created an amazing asset but he should focus on documentations. and I reccomend to wait until it gets an update and added some basic tutorials .

    Great video, as usual, thank you very much! Idea for a 'marketplace' video: good landscape material(s). Keep up the great work!

    Yes, I think this is a good idea. Some of us cannot afford to buy an asset that we not like after purchase

    Very good Review. But I have a question: have you play this „game“. What I mean is: have you really testet the asset? If it‘s true than thank you for this great video. If it‘s false can you hopefully do it. I find this format really cool. Thank you.

    I'm already fully vested in the ACF suite, or I would be grabbing this now. (Still purchasing it tho. 🙂)
    However I am big fan of Jon.
    Super positive, passionate, helpful.
    Watching the growth of this asset over time as well as the cache of tutorials on the Beard Games tutorials, I would highly recommend anyone looking to create a combat driven game using mainly BP to scoop up this gem now.
    You will not be disappointed.

    so, how easy would you say, would it be to expand on this, like "copying" everything bow-related and replace and tweak things for another ranged weapon type?
    This seems like a very solid base for what I need, but I´d have to add quite a few weapons :)

    For me the best combat system and i say it again COMBAT SYSTEM is AARPG which has combat not implemented in any other framework on marketplace ( fatality, parry, riposte, backstap…) but sadly it has been removed from marketplace

    Thanks for the review post.. I think reviewing assets is a great idea.. you did a terrific job... but just one thing. If you could show or tell your viewers the price that goes with the asset.. that would be a tremendous help.. thanks for your time.

    Matt I have a question for you, the game your working on, when designing levels, do you do drawings by hand on paper, I'm trying to think of idea's for how to create levels, I've managed to build a lot of assets from Blender, and I'm trying to find a way to theme them in?

    • @MattAspland
      @MattAspland  2 роки тому +1

      With the game I’m making, I’m not doing a lot of the level design. However, when I do do level design, I typically draw rough ideas on paper and write down any key notes I want to include. Then I sometimes make a mock-up of this on photoshop. (This is mainly to make it more professional to showcase to other team members or investors, etc).
      Then I’ll create a rough blockout in Unreal Engine just using simple geometry, etc. After that, I will start actually creating the assets, landscaping, etc.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi Matt, love your videos even though I am more of a forum post guy myself.
    Would you be interested in reviewing a 3D (And 2D) pathfinding system I created that is called "Easy Pathfinding"
    If you want me to send it to you I would love to do so.

    Hi, I found your channel a while ago trying to use sockets, i try as I might I have not been able to attach a paper2D actor to another, like a sword to a player, can you please make a tutorial about it, all the tutorial i found was in 3D, and the page about it in the Unreal documentation is very outdated and it doesn't work, thanks in advance.

    Cool info. This doesnt have Gamepad support and he teaches tutorials. So can someone tell me w.tfbro Epic did that it's 2022, and even tutorial guys cant easily add Gamepad support???? This is a serious Epic fail.
    Ive seen one tutorial on how to code Gamepad support. And it was too complicated because it didnt match my widget setup. Why has Epic not fixed this??? And made it easy to add Gamepad? Does not Fortnite have Gamepad support? Yet Epic refuses to make an example for us for the tutorial guys to tell us?

    BUYER BEWARE! I bought this product and I have had no end of bugs and issues, if you are going to do a paid review I would recommend playtesting this a heck of a lot more! The bundle is a buggy mess that barely works after 5 minutes of running a level.

    Matt, I like your channel a lot. I've been around since day one and I've always found your content to be interesting, helpful and diverse enough to keep me coming back. I think the marketplace reviews series will be cool to see, but I just really hope you can go more diverse in your selection, because most of this one, while a good review, seems extremely promoted. I love Jon as well, he does some amazing stuff and I've no doubt this system fares quite well also, but the fact this IS indeed a sponsored video from another pretty well known Unreal Teaching channel is a pretty big turn off for me. I get it, every body does sponsors and in this way, most of us who know you can 100 % trust your honest review, such as myself - but, just speaking my mind here. Anyways, I do look forward to the new series and cheers on the video Matt.

      @MattAspland  2 роки тому +1

      Hey aerix, thank you so much for your continued support!
      More diversity is a great idea and one I will definitely be implementing. I believed I gave my honest review in the same way I do with my other marketplace videos. However, if you the viewer perceive it in a different way, I will definitely take that onboard and recognise it when I make the next videos. This is the first episode so comments like this are super useful for dictating the future of it and knowing what people want. And of course as I mentioned, not all of the episodes will be sponsored.
      Thank you heaps for your support and feedback! Have a great day mate

      @@MattAspland Well you are most welcome and thank you for the reply; by diverse also I mean - review stuff with no reviews if it seems interesting, dive into the whole sea of great tools for developers as you go with this series, and so on. Don’t be afraid to review the lesser known, you just might make someone’s day by doing so and turn a lot more towards a great product that may have just been swept upon the waves of content released nearly every day now. Look forward to the future videos and keep it up Matt. I always recommend your channel to my clients when they ask about resources, and I will always continue to do so.

      Oh I absolutely agree yeah. I want to showcase everything, not just the big assets. Sometimes you can find true gems that have 0 reviews or even downloads, but they’re amazing.
