All brand favortism aside, the SVS has the best combination of power and sound quality. The big Klipsh has much more port noise than the SVS but yes more power which is useful for movies but SQ is more important for Music. The SQ of the little Klipsh is almost on par with the SVS but of course lacks the power. Would be nice for a small room or better yet buying 2 for Stereo subs since they don't take up much room.
First of all, great review, very thorough and fair, , I have to say, the svs is the clear winner, that thing rocks , the second best is the smallest one,.
The SVS was much tighter and deeper bass compared to the Klipsch which seemed to be distorting. Compare 3:20 with 9:20. Klipsch was louder, but the SVS was more accurate. I prefer the SVS.
I tested this subwoofer, the svs SB-1000, SB-2000 and klipsch. You are right in some point. SVS sub can go lower in hz and kliscph cant. But at 40hz to 60hz, klipsch has more db (louder) than SVS. For me, ppl are just over rating SVS. Either they didn't compare it with other or they just have low expectation. For me if u want to have a sub from svs, make sure u go for anything above SB-12plus. At least its db is higher and Sufficient. or try other sub like from RBH or PSA ...' And another things which is important, if u want to test the sub, test it with movie and not music. Because in movie, the bass is lower and louder sometime. with music, normal it won't go so low, hence you can really feel the low bass that svs is selling. And also..very important to cutoff the bass at 60hz or 80hz. If you have bass management on 120hz on it, you can really feel the low bass in svs or any other bass.part of it is because the sub need to handle a wide range of bass, and its not going to perform well. but if u let it just handle a limited fre of the bass, then u will experience a better bass from it.
thanks for the comment. there is a bass testing song on UA-cam that will really test your sub. that's what I used. it goes way low so you can see at which point your sub just doesn't respond anymore. I like that better because I don't want to keep rewinding the movie. this song hangs in at said dB level for several seconds which gives you chance to play with your settings
lol so you cranked all the subwoofers to max gain... pointless test here guys. The knob on the back IS NOT a volume knob. It's a gain setting for the amp to properly match the subwoofer to your other speakers. Your likely clipping or distorting the audio signal by having it soo turned up to the maximum setting. You'll likely end up destroying the amp in those subwoofers with it clipping and distorting like that. I found this out myself the hard way after destroying 2 subwoofer amps over 6-7 years after not having my home theater calibrated properly. Your receiver should have test tones to calibrate all your speakers, you should be measuring 75db at the listening position with your SPL meter. Use the gain adjustments for the speakers to get them to 75db. Then adjust the gain knob on your subwoofer to get it as close as possible to 75db as well.
Shadowdane this might be a really stupid question but when you sit at the listening position with the spl. When I start the test tones for each of my speakers at what volume do I need to set my avr?
Svs is light years ahead of Klipsch. I have owned both! For the money compared to Klipsch Svs will always win. If that was a ported pb-1000/2000 it would put out more spl than both of those Klipsch subs combined. If your going to B.B. to look at subs STOP! Look at internet brands like Svs, hsu, Jtr, and Funk Audio ect. They will destroy Klipsch subs. If you look at the top 20+ subs tested every year Klipsch does not make the list. p.s. for testing subs try C weight slow on the meter that is what sub company's recommend.
If you can find a B.B. that has a Magnolia Theater inside it, they do sell SVS subs. I bought an SVS PB-2000 just a month ago from Magnolia Theater, and I've kicking myself since for not buying one earlier. The SVS is by far the best sub money can buy in the "bang for buck" category, not to mention it will destroy so many other subs that cost far more.
Your carpet looks nice. The ported SVS is only $100 more than the sealed. I just like how the sb2000 is not too big. Which do you prefer ? The Klipsh or SVS ?
I have to say Klipsh. the 500 model not the 300. Main reason is that you can adjust settings on the fly and it has bit more power. if you want it to go deep jus change it to depth or if you prefer more power just switch to punch.
svs does sound good and cleaner then klipsch . Im just saying that if i was buying one I would save my money for svs ultra. 2000 just not powerful enough. lets face it size does matter and you can't expect much from box thats 14x14x14
SVS over Klipsch any day. But you can build a Dayton Ultimax 15" with a Crown XLS 1000 that would blow the doors off the SVS line. In the same price range.
Lindsey harris Sounds sweet. I'm perfectly content with my computer setup right now. I'm running 2 A5+ Audioengine speakers with the svs sb2000 sub and it sounds like jizz.
SVS Subwoofers are high quality indeed, but you are paying for that. I have owned Klipsch, HSU Research, Jamo and Velodyne. All Great subs.. My current subwoofer in my Living room is Definitive Technology Pro Sub 800, which continues to surprise me daily with its astonishing Bass and small footprint, I paid $180 for it used on Ebay and could not be happier with performance, My point being you do not have to pay alot for Amazing low end.
i just got a jbl 10 inch sub for music. 500 watt amp 300 watt continues. im looking at svs sub-woofers on amazon for movies. i was looking at the svs-sb2000. not sure what to pick svs martin logon or definitive technology
Nice" thanx for taking the time to show us i was looking at svs also but i like the klipsch sw 115 also i run duals and they are only 799.00 they say its for base heads but the way im thinking is ill can turn it down to a great level...the ultra is to much $ if you ask me anyhow thx keep the videos coming
klipsh sw-311 is also great choice now selling for around 600 with msrp of 1200. I think thats the best deal going now. also martin logan has released their remaining stock of decent i subwoofers which were priced at 3500. now you can get one for 2400. I bought two of them and ohh boy they sound great!
You do know your trying to compare an 8" a 10" & a 12" to each other right?....that SVS 12" is the better sub of that group of three. That conclusion is not based upon your video but upon specs & it's proven track record. Congrats on the new sub! If your going to run dual subs you should sell the two Klipsch & get another SB2000. Enjoy!!
Im running dual subs and have both the SVS pb 2000 and Klipsch R12SW. I also got similar results as you had. The Klipsch got higher db with half the power and is the boomier sub so you have to be careful. It took a long time but I finally got them setup perfectly to my taste.
This Klipsch is... really bad. 38Hz is below 90dB while the high note (around 55Hz) is 10dB louder. This is the biggest flaws in subwoofers. Yea, sure, the sub can hit 38Hz but it loses so much SPL, that it destroyes the listening pleasure. 10dB is more than twice the perceived loudness mind you (9dB is. The scale is logarithmic). Just look at the 11:21. This sub is LOST at 25Hz. It loses more than 10dB output which is INSANELY BAD. At the same time we have this SVS sub and its hitting every single tone in 3dB range. Doesn't matter if it's the lowest 25 Hz (5:06 moment) or 55Hz. The scale is always in range of 3dB which is exactly what you want.
May I ask.. I listen to hiphop n rnb music most of the time..I like the low boomy bass...ppl say if I listen to jazz or more drum bass sealed is alwys the best..but for boomy n deeper ported is better ..but which one is better sb2000 or pb1000 ??? When it comes to low n boomy??? As I can't get the pb2000 cos of its huge size for my living room .. thanks
Narcos Season1 the pb1000 is the sub to get, if you like hip hop and reggae/dancehall music and it is the best choice for movies, I would sacrifice a little space and get the pb 1000.
We'll if you are looking to shake your house or have that feeling in your chest when t-Rex is approaching, this sub is not for you. I prefer sealed subs as they are faster in response and come back to original shape quicker. If you are listening to music and movies then get sealed sub. Something like svs 13ultra regardless of your room size. If you just watch movies, ported sub maybe better option for you. It's big money but at the end you'll find your self wanting more and you will buy something bigger, like I did. Svs 2000 sounds deep and clean it just lacks power.
First of all, the song used in this video is like 20y old and doesnt have anything below 20Hz. Second. Yes, youtube can have sub 20Hz tones. Just listen to any good Decaf and you'll know.
You really should compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges. Meaning, compare a 12" SVS sub to 12" Klipsch or 12" JLAudio sub. Good try though.
You must be a klipsch fan boy to come up with that conclusion, 99% of replies disagree with you. I think you gave it away at the start when you called it your 'trusty'...
Tried Klipsh 12... NOPE!!! And a Big box too. On the first day I bought this sub, A piece of corner bracing from inside the box vibrated out of the port while music was playing.... Minimum-wage builders at best. Klipsch subs are glorified car audio band pass boxes. Tried pb2000... YES YES!!! But a Big box. Tremendous sound!!! But the size of the box Just didn't do it for me. Also, it is also not available in piano gloss finish. Have 2 sb2000... yes~! small compact, Beautiful finish!!! But not enough low-end. Even if I was to add two more SB 2000s it would still not sound as good as one PB2000. Testing 2 PC2000s... YES YES!!! small Footprint great low end. Tall and round tho'. The cylindrical box is not made out of wood but composite materials. But still sounds good. SVS is by far the better company. I will be returning my SB2000 and keeping the PC2000. I'm willing to sacrifice aesthetics for performance. They're great subs for movies or music.
Chris Clark the sound out of the pc vs pb was not really noticeable. The Svc logo on the pc is just a sticker and is curling. I would have perferred the pb!
Yeah, he doesnt know what the hell he is doing. Using an iphone to test with for one, doesnt know how to use the other piece of equipment to test it with, plus using you tube as a source for sound. I guess you can have money to buy things, but you cant buy a brain to know how to do things properly. This guy failed big time.
+78 Tranz Am Man I can agree to that. I wired my PSW303 to an external amplifier along with a crossover and found that it originally was missing quite a bit.
All brand favortism aside, the SVS has the best combination of power and sound quality. The SQ of the little Klipsh is almost on par with the SVS but of course lacks the power. Would be nice for a small room or better yet buying 2 for Stereo subs since they don't take up much room.
I think that meter may be a bit close. 1 metre is standard.
First of all, great review, very thorough and fair, ,
I have to say, the svs is the clear winner, that thing rocks , the second best is the smallest one,.
The SVS was much tighter and deeper bass compared to the Klipsch which seemed to be distorting. Compare 3:20 with 9:20. Klipsch was louder, but the SVS was more accurate. I prefer the SVS.
i mean svs is the best subwoofer brand in the world but klipsch is more quality if u ask me
Cheaper subs like Klipsch tend to be more boomy or muddy to make it sound more premium/better when in reality its not.
I think the svs bass is better than the others, just my opinion.
Yes svs is best
The proper way to measure spl for music is to use C weighting and SLOW response.
Loudness < Accuracy
I’d go with the SVS.

+myphotopick listen to the guy... or educate yourself on subwoofer and low (bass) frequencies.. :)
+myphotopick listen to the guy... or educate yourself on subwoofer and low (bass) frequencies.. :)
To me the klipsch sounds like its blown to clipping or maybe its just the camera.
The Klipsch doesn't sound clean there's no definition
Nice, thanks man. Helped me make a choice on the SVS

You are correct. However, I believe it's 80db for the calibration.
Are you sure? I have a SB2000 and right next to the knob is written "Volume"

i’m thinkinh about pb2000 or sb2000 for music use. do u have recommendation?
I would always stick with sealed sub for music and ported for movies.
myphotopick thank you for your help. I will but the svs sb2000 pro.
i just got a jbl 10 inch sub for music. 500 watt amp 300 watt continues.
im looking at svs sub-woofers on amazon for movies.
i was looking at the svs-sb2000.
not sure what to pick svs martin logon or definitive technology
Cameron Harper - PB2000... 😉
Fantastic review thank you so much!!

The SVS has a more detailed sound to me but the Klipchs bass appears to loosen up and rattle the dry wax in my ears ...
You do know your trying to compare an 8" a 10" & a 12" to each other right?....that SVS 12" is the better sub of that group of three. SB 2000 will be better. PB1000 is a smaller sub (10" vs 12") with less power and it will lose to a sealed SB 2000 every single time.
man that Klipsh sounds like a woopie cushion. The notes sound better on the SVS
Lmao...exactly
Damn what song is this. I gotta try this on my subs and speakers
I heard noises from both the klipsh that the svs didn't have
the svs also articulated sounds that the klipsh completely dropped or baffled and smugged into one crappy sound
Would like to see your opinion of the SVS in movies

svs is better I think
Why didn’t you test it with a good action film? In music the kilos have is always going to be better.
This is great old video that shows louder and more efficient isn't better.
what is the bestfor power and bass
you get want you pay for. I like svs ultra sealed subwoofers
ok and the cheapest :D
all about beats - I'd highly recommend the SVS PB2000, or PB1000 on a tighter budget. 😉
I dont see how you use music off UA-cam to test a sub when its mp3 quality and filters out everything below 20Hz
First of all, the song used in this video is like 20y old and doesnt have anything below 20Hz. Second. Yes, youtube can have sub 20Hz tones. Just listen to any good Decaf and you'll know.

you measure subwoofer SPL on dBA and fast respond?! You completely lost my friend! :D :D
Bass Outlaws. 3 kinds of bass.
Nice sub! I would try to learn about the differences between 128kbps and 350kbps sound files. Night and day
Svs the best!!!!!!!
No. Sound quality is better on svs. Power however is stronger on Klipsch
your smoking crack son....what a dumbass
Thankyou
You must be a klipsch fan boy to come up with that conclusion, 99% of replies disagree with you. I think you gave it away at the start when you called it your 'trusty'...
Way too close with all meter 1 meter but 2 is the true spl
why the hell would you play that rubbish as your demo....jeezz just play the AMAZE demo or just play a frequency sweep
Tried Klipsh 12... NOPE!!! And a Big box too. On the first day I bought this sub, A piece of corner bracing from inside the box vibrated out of the port while music was playing.... Minimum-wage builders at best. Klipsch subs are glorified car audio band pass boxes.

Polk Audio > Kilpsch
Who really cares when they both suck.
Kyle LaFountaine i have a psw404 it gets the job done but it has its limitations
