Linda Ronstadt had the most beautiful voice on the planet for several decades. Her beautiful voice was stolen by a neurological disorder. The perfect blend of power and sweetness emitted from this petite woman with earth moving pipes. Spectacular control! Just pure unadulterated talent. On top of that was a beautiful package behind eyes that mesmerized! I’m a straight woman and I am moved by her beauty so I cannot imagine her effect on men. A true superstar. 🌸✌️

"Desperado" is a poignant ballad that Linda Ronstadt covered on her 1973 album "Don't Cry Now." Originally written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley of the Eagles, the song explores the inner turmoil of a person living a solitary and reckless life, symbolized by the "desperado." The lyrics urge this individual to reflect on their choices and embrace love and connection before it's too late. The song's narrative suggests the desperado has distanced themselves from others, living on the edge and pursuing pleasures that ultimately bring pain. The line "don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy" implies avoiding risks, while "fine things laid upon your table" indicates they have had success but continue to chase what they can't have. This persistent pursuit prevents them from finding true happiness. As the song progresses, it addresses the desperado's growing sense of mortality and the emptiness of their lifestyle. The lyrics portray a plea for the desperado to come to their senses and open themselves up to love and connection, symbolized by the mention of rain and a rainbow, indicating the potential for a fresh start. Ronstadt's emotive delivery adds depth to the song, making the desperado's struggle relatable and evoking empathy and understanding in the listener. Her rendition is considered one of the definitive versions, helping to popularize the song.

Linda Ronstadt's decision to record "Desperado" by the Eagles was influenced by her deep connection to the song and her longstanding relationship with its creators, Glenn Frey and Don Henley. Both Frey and Henley were members of her backing band before forming the Eagles, and Ronstadt had a close professional relationship with them. This connection gave her unique insight into the song's emotional depth and resonance.
Ronstadt was known for her ability to convey deep emotion through her music, and "Desperado" offered a perfect vehicle for her vocal talents. The song's themes of loneliness, introspection, and the longing for connection resonated with Ronstadt, who often chose songs that spoke to universal human experiences. Her version of "Desperado" stands out for its heartfelt delivery, highlighting the song's plea for the desperado to open up to love and connection. Recording "Desperado" also allowed Ronstadt to showcase her versatility and ability to cross genres, blending elements of rock, country, and folk. This blend was a hallmark of her career, helping her to appeal to a broad audience and maintain her relevance across different musical landscapes. Ronstadt's interpretation of "Desperado" helped to popularize the song and bring it to a wider audience. Her performance added a new dimension to the song, emphasizing its emotional core and solidifying its place as a classic in her repertoire and the broader music canon.
