Hi there, I saw your vid. & it's excellent. I've been truck camping since the mid 80's. Here's what I've learned & I'll pass them on to you, I hope this helps. Some of this you may already have, do, or know about. 1) Get stuff you need at a camping store for backpacking. It's small, compact, & light weight. 2)Get splash guards for your truck. It'll help keep you & your rig clean. They work. I know. 3) When parking for the night, park headlong into the wind. That way if a storm comes you won't have to worry about a side wind ripping off your camper shell. Plus, if anything comes bouncing towards the truck, since you have a slimmer profile, it might miss you. If it does hit, the front of the truck is reinforced. Also when cooking you're in the lee & the wind will blow the smoke & odors out of your rig. 4) Use bug spray on the interior doors & windows/ screens openings to help keep bugs out. Use wasp & hornet spray around & on your tires to help keep critters out. Basically, all points of contact on the ground. 5) An inch is a lot of room. Learn how to stack & get used to sand & dirt. Use floor mats to put your shoes on too 6)Air out your sleeping area every morning or often. In an enclosed space the air gets stale. 7)Use a small fan to circulate the air in your sleeping area. This will help prevent hot & cold spots from forming & help prevent condensation & mold & mildew from forming. 8)Use a solid hooded sweatshirt. Draw the hood tight when you sleep to help encapsulate body heat. It can double as a pillow/ dirty clothes holder/ gear carrier etc. I hope this helps. Great vid, thanks for sharing. Drive safe. 🤠
Great build. Loved the slide out bed portion - good use of design to maximize the small space. Also liked your simple - yet super effective - electrical set up. I am just using a portable power station at the moment but am looking into doing a proper panel and battery set up.
Nice build, I'm planning on doing a simular designed build in the 8ft bed of my dually, I've been getting idea's from everybody's builds, they seem to be pretty much the same basic designs, with or without slide out draws under the bed, I think if I build mine with the bed opened and storage under with two pull out draws and long 8ft storage on the side for fishing rods or sunbrellas or a canopy for shade outside on clear days, that'll give Me separate cooking and sleeping storage under the bed, plus I could have additional storage up front under a headboard type area if needed for whatever, I'm just in the planning stages right now and having over 30 years in building custom van/trucks for a living and 40+ years in upholstry I can't wait to get started on it, A little about the truck, It's a 91 F350 4dr dually with a 8ft bed, it has a 7.3 idi diesel with a 5 speed that I'm swapping to a Auto Trans, I'm lowering it 3in in front 4in in back and of course it needs paint and minor body work, (either deep hi gloss jet black or a wrought iron flat black with ghost flames, haven't decided yet), the cab interior and bed interior will be all custom blended to match done by me in bright red with either accent of oak or black trim or maybe a little of both, I'm gathering parts now and I'm going to start a UA-cam Channel to post videos of the build along the way,
I like the bed design , but ,,,, you don't seem to have access to anything under the bed once it's extended ? I think a slide out on the end would do the trick , and wouldn't be too hard to incorporate. Kept simple. The other side storage , while functional (I get it ) just appears unfinished with the end open . My OCD would be off the charts with that , lol .... Needs a curtain to cover it at least .....: ) Otherwise , simple and well done 👏 Cool ....
Cap is even with cab of truck, most people build platform bed. Have to be compromise betrrrn headroom and storage. I sit in truck more than sleep.I also have plenty of room under bed.
I'm stealing that slide away bed design. You sir, are a genius. Thank you!
You can make that bed for free out of shipping pallets most places will give you because they are a fire hazard.
Agreed 👍
Me too!

All great advise, thank you.
I have to agree bed design is fantastic, thanks for sharing
The sliding bed is so awesome!
That bed design is pretty slick! Well done sir!
I like it! It looks like a fairly simple and straightforward build.
Simple and cozy. Very nicely done.
The view out of your garage is tremendous
Very ingenious and simple setup. Easy break down as well. Really good ideas and worthwhile video to check out. Thanks again
Looks good to me. I just bought a 2021 ram 1500. Put a leer 180 on there. A nice bed rug. Can’t wait to start enjoying it.

Thank you and you might want to check out my next video in couple weeks. Simple battery and solar set up.

Like how the bed slides out great idea!
Simple and meets your needs. Perfect. Cheers.
Paint the top of the shell bright white. It will drop the temps dramatically.
Looks good. Stay safe.
Great build. 👍
Great job with your build.
Love the setup Ray!
Looks like the view from Scottsdale!
I used regular old sowing thread and needle and sowed in my led lights into the top of the carpeted roof and never have to worry about it falling down
Nice setup

Can you make an instructional video on how to make the slide out bed?
Sick af
I like it!
NICE SETUP
Nice job!
Thank you. Need to get room for my awning. Liked the two you did.

Didn't want to buy sliders for pull out. Good idea on curtain for end of storage. It was incomplete, but now I will add curtain. Thanks
Please make more vids on this dodge love it
I will for sure
Bueno amigo
I got an 06 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins and looking to put a topper jus like that to camp
I love the extra space.
Do you have the video on that bed that’s an awsome idea
I’m about to go full car camping, where do you get the foil insulation for your windows
Home depot for a big roll works great.
Thank you !
I'm wondering I'm 5'11, and regular truck bed should be 5'5, how to make the length good for foot room? Thank you.
My bed is 6.5 ft , I think most are 6.0 for short bed.
Neat
how are the slats to sleep on?
Very comfortable with Japanese futon and it's all screwed together. No noise or creaking.
You have a couch but you can't sit on it? You are hunched right over. Maybe need a shorter bed
