Luckily, I have been to Disneyland enough times that I personally don't worry anymore about rope drops or even maximizing my time there. I now prefer the leisurely stroll through the parks and just ride things as I get the urge or I am in the vicinity of a certain ride. But, there are some times when I go with family that have young kids, or with people that have never been or have only been once or twice, and it is those times that these videos really help to maximize our time and make sure they get to experience as much of the park as possible in the short time that we are there.
Same. I kind of wish the app wouldn’t give wait times anymore. Kind of pointless now, since a low wait time immediately becomes a high wait time once the app posts it, and vice versa. 😄
We watched a ton of your videos while planning our first family trip to disneyland, so it was very fun to see us in this video a short distance ahead of you for the rope drop.
For years our family has rope dropped in DCA and gone straight to toy story mania, then in credit coaster, then mission breakout and then single rider radiator Springs racers. we usually stay on Harbor so we can get into Esplanade and into the front gates very early and be one of the first into the line in rope drop. Honestly, this is the best way to do an early entry at DCA because radiator Springs racers is such a long wait right off the bat no matter what.
Thanks for the video, David. I hate to say it, but I think single rider might be the way to go. This ride might be gaining in popularity. If that’s possible.
🔑I think the key is being at the very front of the pack of the rope drop crowd. Period. I do that when I rope drop Disneyland and I get in line at 6:40-6:45am I’m usually belly up to the rope For RSR I’d imagine you HAVE to do this AND then stay to the far left
Dido! We were actually there the same morning as Dave. We arrived to security at 6:50 and were standing at the ropes and walked on the ride with no wait.
Security opens at 7Am so you have to be there before that time to be well positioned near the front of the rope - all the hotel guests on Harbor blvd can do that. We line up for security no later than 6:40am - and we have been well positioned near front.
Finding a good Rope Drop strategy for DCA is one of the ultimate Disneyland mysteries!🕵🏼♀️Thankfully for us, Freshbaked is on the case! 🔎🔎 I’ve been loving watching the process of watching you figure out this park for us! 🎢☀️🎡🏎️🏁
I tend to do Toy Story first at rope drop, then incredicoaster, the little mermaid, then single rider for RSR I usually wait like 10 minutes since it’s still the morning, then guardians, and monsters inc and then I’m done at DCA by about 11:00am-11:30am
I don’t recall ever waiting more than 30-35 minutes in single rider, even on those 120 minute stand-by days. Maybe once in a great while it goes a little longer when the ride goes into its Up/Down mode.
You definitely need to use a pic from Mater's as your Thursday Live thumbnail. The look of joy you have is priceless! :) Also, we have been at right at the rope several times when we stayed at a nearby Good Neighbor hotel. Maybe try parking at one of the hotels that allows it?
FreshBaked. Good morning David, up before the rest of us have gone to bed. I can see for these early morning "Rope Drop" experditions we'll have to issue you with a pair of roller skates.Nice to see Liz had her 21st birthday party the other evening at "Bird Streets Club." Cheers, Chris Perry.
David has been lucky this whole morning lol I am jealous hahahha and he was brave to rope drop that radiator springs line sheeeeeesh, thanks David for your videos. Love it!
No i don’t. You get coffee you chill there’s hardly anyone there, you also get on a bunch of extra rides as they have reduced wait times because it’s very early in the morning.
The way that I’ve always been able to get to the front of the turnstile/rope drop lines, has been parking at a hotel for the day on Harbor, and getting to the security line near the buses extremely early. Arriving there from 6:30-6:45 is good, security lines open at 7, and hopefully turnstiles open at 7:30. That’s the only way I’ve been able to be “perfect” in the mornings. I’m grateful those are the longest lines I wait for in the entire day 😂
I was one of the first cars in line at Mickey and Friends the day I rope dropped Radiator Springs and ended up about where you were in the rope drop wait. And we did sort of rush from the car. I would say hotel guests, but there was early entry that day so they wouldn't have been waiting in that group. It's probably all those people who jump out and wait in line at the gate as the driver waits to park.
You get to the mickey and friends structure at least an hour before opening parking (6am) then park and rush the bag check and tram (7:10am) to get in the gate (7:30am) first to be in the front at the rope (8am). This is the way.
Thanks David! So excited to see this. It’s just the video I’ve been looking for. I arrive on March 30 and my DCA early entry date is Tuesday April 2. I ‘ve even considered first hitting Luigi’s if it’s open because it’s down so much when I’ve been looking at app. Then single line for radiator springs. If I don’t do that cause radiator is down than rope dropping Toy Story and Ferris wheel at Pixar pier. I get too motion sick to do guardians even though I have no problem with tower of terror.
Just like Space Mtn, if there is single rider, go for it later in the day instead of Rope Drop, always. Last time I rode Racers, there was an 80 minute regular queue, and single rider was only a 10 minute wait for me. 👌
We were there the same day as you! We were second in at the gate and near the rope. RR took us 6 minutes (without running) but we were further ahead at rope drop than you. We stayed at the Anaheim so thru security right at 7am.
I’m with Dave in general. I always am for rope dropping guardians (it’s because it’s my favorite and I almost always have lightning lane and I like to do it twice) but I now have a little one and it changed my thinking on single rider. When my little boy is tall enough for RSR he will be too young to do single rider and in that case rope dropping RSR is probably the way to go, but I’m also always at the rope, so my wait would be minimal.
Totally agree that RSR isn't worth the rope drop (unless you really don't want to do single rider). We always rope drop Toy Story first, incredicoaster second, then run through all the attractions around the pier. You can do usually all of them in the first 60-90 minutes of the day. Then Grizzly and Soarin' which are usually still mild in the morning or bounce back to RSR when the rope drop/opening crowd has subsided.
You enjoying Mater's Junkyard Jamboree changed my mind on planning to ride that ride! Thank you for these videos. Hopefully I'll get close to as lucky as you have been!
I’m going to be at DCA on a Wednesday in early June, when hotels get EE. What would you recommend rope dropping? (Due to a myriad of reasons, I’m not switching the days I go)
Very interesting video. I'm not sure you save any time when you have to arrive so early and wait at the rope drop area for 30 minutes before the park opens, then another 30 minutes to get on the ride. Had you just waited until 8:30 a.m., the wait was 55 minutes.
If you have already succumbed to spending the $15-20 might be a decent idea to get a LL shortly after rope drop since it seems it'll be the cheapest flex price.
to be at the front, touching the rope, i was in line for security/entrance at 7am sharp. i was able to be first at the turnstile and at the front of the rope. people managed to mosey in front of me, as often happens in tight crowds, but not too many. i still had to wait at least 25/30 minutes which isnt bad for RSR, but not the ideal result when rope dropping a ride.. this was january 2023 so im curious if this would work now.
We stay at Disney's Grand California Resort quite often, in fact we will be there this weekend and staying, but we have never been able to wake up for early entry. I'm really going to try getting in the half hour before the park opens this Sunday... wish me luck LOL Thanks for always giving us great tips and tricks at DL and DCA!
Rope Drop is 100% the way to go. We were there at New Years with a 120min estimate. It took 4 hours, we went through every single switchback and extended cue. It all depends on the Lightning lane, it seems like they take too many at certain times.
Ever since I was a kid and now im 19, when Carsland first opened my dad and made us wait and our huge group that day wait for racers. We waited like 3 hrs and were stuck in the Barnes for so long since then ill never ever wait stand by in that line again 😭😭 even tho the ride is so good, single rider only
Hi Fresh Baked Disney! Watched your rope drop on your UA-cam channel and wondered if you ever took the Avengers Campus at rope drop over to Radiator Springs and if you have is it faster? Bringing my 5 1/2 yr old granddaughter in a few days for her first visit. Your content has been so appreciated! Thank you!!!
I have a 4 and 7 year old. Unfortunately we can’t do single rider with my 4 year old. Would you recommend buying an ILL for RSR and not getting Genie + or rope dropping RSR and getting Genie + (We would not likely use Genie + for guardians or incredicoaster)
Regarding parking timing logistics... could you park at Garden Walk instead? It's an easy walk over. Isn't that parking garage a similar price and open 24/7?
We were at rope drop that day, Sunday, and when we reached the queue the wait was 85 minutes. We went with single rider and were on in about 20 minutes.
I only make it to the parks every other year so we always get G+ and pay for individual LL to save time. So we tend to rope drop standby rides before doing LL anyway. I think this year at DCA we will rope drop maters and luigis since they get to around 35 min later in the day and rarely come down.
Need to avoid the big crowds at the Parking Garage/Lot and their Security Check lines and tram/bus lines. We park on the West side of Mickey & Friends and walk to the DTD Security Check which rarely has much of a line but only a couple of security checking people in. Then walk fast to the DCA entrance gate and we were pretty close to the front of the line for rope drop. Your mileage may vary! LOL
I rope drop this ride at Christmas 2023 and it’s worth it. Because after I rode the ride the wait time for rest of the day never drop below 400 mins lol
Just curious, I'm flying in for a solo trip soon. What is the average wait for the single rider line? I'm starting at DL on both my days with park hopper.
I have been interested in parking at Toy Story lot, but never have. I "think" the draw back there is, you can only arrive so early. At Mickey and friends I am typically in the first 10 spots of parking (meaning I am either first at the gate, or second worst case). I arrive to M&F no later than 6:25. I am usually on the tram before 7:10 am, and in line at the park gates by 7:20. All that to say, you could in theory get closer to the entry gate without staying on property but not by much.
I rope drop to Radiator when I begin at Disney California Adventure and I do that at the end of the day before the park closes. At the end of the day, we try to do both Rise & Radiator because it has a shorter wait!
I’ve been able to be the first person in line for the gate by parking in a neighborhood at around 5:45am-6am and getting an Uber to the security gate on harbor

When we stay off property we are always at security around 6:40 and I have never not been at the front of the rope. I think you have to rope drop security then you should be at the front.
He probably has discounted or free parking due to magic key. So parking at one of the hotels is probably not the option. But maybe he’ll do one trial for the sake of science
I love your data driven videos, but as an avid rope dropper... Rope drop, to me, means you can touch the rope. I would like to see the data being at the front of rope drop
DCA DESPERATELY needs another E-ticket!!! Not enough in that park! (despite Tower of terror, and Cars Land additions) Spider man ride is LAME. Hopefully with Disneyland Forward HOPEFULLY getting approved, this will help in the coming decades.
Radiator Spring Racers is not that great. I’d rather go to paradise pier and do all of those rides. By the time these guests ride racers, I would be done with most of the rides at Paradise pier.

Really, you don't sweat it, explain Goofy's flight school?
Those excitable kids as you were getting into the queue for the Incredicoaster really made me smile. That’s a family having a great day.
We watched a ton of your videos while planning our first family trip to disneyland, so it was very fun to see us in this video a short distance ahead of you for the rope drop.

It’s definitely the Indiana Jones of DCA! Doesn’t matter how many decades it’s been open, it will always be a favorite. RSR is an instant classic 🫶🏼❤🏁
🔑I think the key is being at the very front of the pack of the rope drop crowd. Period.
I do that when I rope drop Disneyland and I get in line at 6:40-6:45am
I’m usually belly up to the rope

Dido! We were actually there the same morning as Dave. We arrived to security at 6:50 and were standing at the ropes and walked on the ride with no wait.
There is only one commentary you could give to describe that particular rope drop, and that is. . . MOOOOOOOO!!!! . . . . 😜
Security opens at 7Am so you have to be there before that time to be well positioned near the front of the rope - all the hotel guests on Harbor blvd can do that. We line up for security no later than 6:40am - and we have been well positioned near front.

I like that you refer a new attraction/ride as an E ticket.
E tickets forevah!
Love rope drop strategy videos. Thank you!
I’ve never stepped foot in the RSR stand-by line, so thanks for the tour of some new scenery. Single-rider since Day 1, regardless of group size.
How long do you wait in single rider? Say stand by is an 80 minute wait, what are you in for?
I don’t recall ever waiting more than 30-35 minutes in single rider, even on those 120 minute stand-by days. Maybe once in a great while it goes a little longer when the ride goes into its Up/Down mode.
@ssgorik if you can go under the bridge before you reach the end of the line. Its usually less then 30 mins
This used to be my story until I had a child 😂. Can't do single rider with a 3 year old and no way are we paying for lightning lane every time!
"Almost everybody's making a hard left", if you know you know! 😂 Mad Love 4 Fresh Baked. 40 minutes at Rope Drop 🤯
You definitely need to use a pic from Mater's as your Thursday Live thumbnail. The look of joy you have is priceless! :) Also, we have been at right at the rope several times when we stayed at a nearby Good Neighbor hotel. Maybe try parking at one of the hotels that allows it?

This helps us plan for our up coming trip. I was hesitant to rope drop RSR…..I think we’ll pass👍🏻😉. Thanks Fresh Baked!
Even in the days of Fast Pass, you always wanted to stay to the right after rope drop.
The Toy Story Mania ride-through is a good example of how 3D works
I have to thank you David. We never tried Mater until I saw one of your videos a few years ago. It's now one of our favorite rides!
It's a great ride! so fun!
Same for us we love toooow maters because of you, David. 🚜
David has been lucky this whole morning lol I am jealous hahahha and he was brave to rope drop that radiator springs line sheeeeeesh, thanks David for your videos. Love it!
Adding the wait from entering the park to rope drop sort of adds to that 35 minute wait, don't you agree?😊
lol that is definitely one of the great Disney debates!
No i don’t. You get coffee you chill there’s hardly anyone there, you also get on a bunch of extra rides as they have reduced wait times because it’s very early in the morning.
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Love that intro music! Amazed how much i feel like in the park just watch Freshbaked
the restraint closing on the first cali screaming hill 🥰🥰🥰
I would love to see you at the rope on rope drop day!!!🎉
Whenver I'm at the top of Pixar Pal-a-round I wonder if we're going to have one of those famous California earthquakes.
"I hope we live." 🤣
😂

ALWAYS enjoy your videos!
Would love one day to see you David, myself n family were there 3-18 trough 3-21 and I was always on the lookout for you. 😊

How did you like the Anaheim hotel? Thinking of staying there when we go in October...We stayed.at Stovalls last week and it was.. eh
@@amandao266it was great. It was close and suited our needs as a place to sleep and recharge mid day

Pro tip!!! If you park at garden walk and you cross security at 7am you can be first in line.

But the park is not open until after rope drop so you are saving parking time.
But then he’s done with 1 ride and it’s 9:30 am instead of being done with 3 or 4 rides at 9:30 am. Thats a significant difference
Laughing at you doing the outro while being thrown around on Maters.... Thank you for that :)
If you have already succumbed to spending the $15-20 might be a decent idea to get a LL shortly after rope drop since it seems it'll be the cheapest flex price.

Hey David. Do you think Pixar Place Hotels sticks out or blends in decently with the P Pier/ PG Grill/ Boardwalk P&P?
I rope drop this ride at Christmas 2023 and it’s worth it. Because after I rode the ride the wait time for rest of the day never drop below 400 mins lol
Just curious, I'm flying in for a solo trip soon.
What is the average wait for the single rider line?
I'm starting at DL on both my days with park hopper.
To get to the front of the rope, I park at Anaheim hotel (same rate as DLR) and go walk in the esplanade at 7am
Same with the Winnie The Pooh ride. Early in the morning we only send 1 vehicle at a time of people then we open the other side
I’ve been able to be the first person in line for the gate by parking in a neighborhood at around 5:45am-6am and getting an Uber to the security gate on harbor
I’d gladly wait 25 min. For RSR. It’s rare. Sometimes late at night you can find that time.
But what if I can only do Sunday? Is it completely worthless to rope drop? I would rope drop for soarin or midway mania…
RSR isn’t really 40 minutes at rope drop. You also have to count getting up at 6am and getting there at 7am, and then waiting around for the 8a open. Exhausting. It’s a cute ride but not worth the hassle.
Take a nap in the car after 2pm or 3pm
When we stay off property we are always at security around 6:40 and I have never not been at the front of the rope. I think you have to rope drop security then you should be at the front.
Incredicoaster is an 8 in the day and a perfect 10 at night!
I’m still trying to figure it how people can afford the DLR hotels. 😢 Guess I’m just poor. 😝
24:40 oh how I love and miss A Bug's Life.
Is toy story parking better than mickey? What do you recomend?
Don’t they normally lock unoccupied restraints on incredicoaster?
Uber drop off or hope they open the park areas early enough and you are at the front of that line.
I rope dropped RSR. I still had to wait an hour.

What’s an e ticket

Was there yesterday got to the park a bit before 7:50 took us 45 min :/
No single rider?
Wait what’s rope drop ?
I’m so confused
That’s so many people
That’s crazy
Hi
Radiator springs at night is a far superior experience…just sayin
Don’t rope drop rsr it’s better at night 😅
First! Freshbaked😂
First!
