Nice idea with the scotts pads but the primer pockets are still dirty. I will do pins first cleaning after de-prime to get primer pockets clean - the after resize to lube off will try your scotts pad trick. Thanks for the video.
I've never been one to worry about perfectly cleaned primer pockets for any of my AR reloads and they come out cleaner that one might think. I do how ever inspect them all and make sure the flash hole is clear. Have not had any issues with accuracy or extreme spreads. I do understand that some like spotless primer pockets and l'm all good with that😉👍 ... thanks for stopping by and watching Brother 😁👉
So glad you showed your method, I have been using walnut media for years but wanted to try wet tumble but didnt want to mess with the ss pins. Now I have a better option in the Scotch strips which is great for me cause I have lots of them.
This was awesome! I've been shooting guns for a few years and looking now to buy my first handgun. Redoing my own spent ammo has crossed my mind before, so this was a very interesting video to me! Thanks for the video, keep up the great work on UA-cam! Definitely an underrated channel.
Great looking brass! I totally need a wet tumbler, but a bucket and some water is working well enough for now. Our range brass looks similar - covered in mud and grass. I just tumble in walnut media after I swage/size/trim/chamfer/debur them. It's not bad, but the dust is annoying. Thanks for sharing👍🇺🇸👊
No just sitting in the gravel/dirt and a bit of water and snow ... most of this brass is sitting in front of the firing line just off the concrete. I get permission from the RO,s to pick it up when the range is cold.
After resizing I would wet tumble with ss pins using Dawn and lemi shine. It would not get the lubricant off the brass. After sizing you wet tumble with the pads? Do you use dish soap also or? The scotch pads really look like a better way than the pins.
Yes, after resizing Dawn dishsoap and pads with hot water to remove the lube. 15 - 20 minutes in the tumbler, then a thorough rinsing with cold water. I then dump out of the tumbler onto a towel for a quick dry off and then into the case dryer for an hour. Thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 😉👍👊🇺🇸
Pre pandemic I would have said no for most calibers. But since then reloading components have skyrocketed in price ... primers, powder, brass, and bullets. Have been hard hit. Just look at the cost of 9mm ammo now compared to then same for 5.56 ammo. The prices of ammo are outrageous. All of the components are going to making factory ammo. If you had bought all of your components prior to the pandemic then the answer would be yes. The biggest reason I reload is for enjoyment of it and for accuracy and performance. Hope this helps. I would however encourage you to get into doing it ... for me it's worth it 😉👍👊🇺🇸
In the final rinse all I'm using is Dawn dishsoap and hot water from the faucet to remove the case lube. I tumble for 15 minutes and thats all it takes to remove the lube. I then thoroughly rinse all the soap off still in the tumbler drum with warm water multiple times until no more soap residue is present. Dump onto a towel and dry in my case dryer. You can also dry in your oven at 180° for about 1 hour or set them outside in the sun for final drying. Hope this helps answer your question 😉👊👍🇺🇸
Your best bet is try to find some of your local outdoor gun ranges. Nowadays it's kind of tough just for the fact that lots of people are now starting to collect their brass ... thanks for stopping by and watching 😉👊🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Brother😉 ... I use 1 tablespoon of Dawn dishsoap and a 1/4 teaspoon of Lemi shine to wash. I rinse twice with cold water. And then it goes into my Lyman case dryer for an hour to dry. My apologies for not seeing your comment sooner enjoy your day😉👊🇺🇸
Scotchbrite pads! Genius!

Who'd a thunkt you could use scotch Brite pads?
Excellent.
That would be ME ... lol🤣🤣🤣👍👊
Looks so beautiful ammo😉👍️👌
Thanks for watching Brother 👊
That initial shot of all that brass... were they submerged in water/flood waters?
No just sitting in the gravel/dirt and a bit of water and snow ... most of this brass is sitting in front of the firing line just off the concrete. I get permission from the RO,s to pick it up when the range is cold.
I like your idea of the scotch brite pads. What did you add to the water? Lemi shine and soap?
Yes, 1/2 teaspoon Lemi shine and a squirt of Dawn dishsoap 😉 ... thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 👊👍🇺🇸
👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Brother 👊

Great video as usual! Question, is it worth it to reload??? Meaning is it that much cheaper after you buy the rig, the components and spend the time?
Pre pandemic I would have said no for most calibers. But since then reloading components have skyrocketed in price ... primers, powder, brass, and bullets. Have been hard hit. Just look at the cost of 9mm ammo now compared to then same for 5.56 ammo. The prices of ammo are outrageous. All of the components are going to making factory ammo. What else did you use in the tumbler that caused the suds/foaming after the final rinse?
In the final rinse all I'm using is Dawn dishsoap and hot water from the faucet to remove the case lube. I tumble for 15 minutes and thats all it takes to remove the lube. I then thoroughly rinse all the soap off still in the tumbler drum with warm water multiple times until no more soap residue is present. Dump onto a towel and dry in my case dryer. Nice pick up... Do you reload 22's ?
I WISH ... 😉😂🤣
Do you re-use the scotch brite or do you use new pads each time?
I reuse them Multiple times or until they start wearing out and getting soft
I probably get 16 to 20 washes out of them .
You think cutting pads into 1 inch squares would help
I've tried , and it made know difference 😉 ... thanks for stopping by and watching, Brother 😉👊🇺🇸
What range can i go pickup lots of brass ??
Your best bet is try to find some of your local outdoor gun ranges. Nowadays it's kind of tough just for the fact that lots of people are now starting to collect their brass ... thanks for stopping by and watching 😉👊🇺🇸
You missed a few steps in your process. You didn’t show the rent sing the drying and what chemicals or soap or whatever you put into your Tumbler
