Another downtown stadium really?! That’s what you think they need?? It would then be like 1 of 28 doing it looking like the rest!! Seriously all the buildings look the same you can’t tell where they playing by the stadium anymore. I guarantee you now, though if they show Kaufman Stadium, you can tell because no other stadium has a giant hill with hotels on it and a highway behind it’s a giant crown led tv!! Like I agree the highway isn’t best view but remember the land was picked in the mid 1960s. That highway was built in 1956-1957. It wasn’t even 10 years old when the land was picked. So maybe they were proud and/or they thought it would be cool to see big fancy buildings on a tall hill above the fancy brand new highway that goes from one side of the USA to other while it cuts through the famous Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains that not even 100 years people couldn’t make it dying off trying to cut through. So maybe they thought a new marvel at the time would be cool to see sitting above the outfield wall. When the stadium was built and until the overhaul in 2009 there was no seats or bars nothing in the outfield it was grass and fountains it was very pretty and no billboards. KC is also very spread out more than most cities and most the rich and ticket holders live 7 to 15 minutes southwest from there in Johnson county Kansas so no public transportation and nor do they want it out there so can’t get rid of parking and having 2 major highways meet right behind the stadium with several lanes each way and huge on ramps makes going there and home easy and fast. Kansas and Missouri (remember the stadium is right near the state line of both states in the Missouri side) both have super cheap gas and Kansas has perfect roads so no point taking a bus that will take a hour to get there. It takes 5 mins to walk from your seat to your car and even sold out games the highways and on ramps are so big there is no traffic issues. I live 13 miles from the stadium and starting the second I stand up from my seat to leave I can’t be home on the couch in 15 minutes 20 mins if I had to park on the other side of arrowhead which doesn’t happen much. You can’t beat that. If they build downtown you have a game in a ghost city where there is no parking and terrible routes out of there. Remember kcmo is dead there is more traffic just a few miles away at 9 am on a Tuesday in south Overland Park Kansas than downtown kcmo. It’s also wayyy safer. No crime there no homeless unlike downtown! Despite being a dead joke people get killed crime is bad. Most companies left downtown KC for Leawood KS and Overland Park KS so during the day not much down there just homeless people and idiots who can’t afford a real city but want “city living” but work in Overland Park haha. For the same price they could buy a decent size house in a well off neighborhood with no crime no homeless but nope they live there until they have kids or common sense kick in of course and since very few yuppies and idiots with money exist not many down there either. So it’s homeless and nothing. It’s a ghost city. So why move the stadium there?? What so the team can open some bars before and after the game thinking people will pay $25 a beer just because it’s next to the stadium or has view of it? Hell no those people will drink in Kansas or walk 8 blocks to a hole in the wall kcmo bar and pay $2. Kansas really would be best to build new due to the people who can afford games living there better roads no crime no homeless and all the companies like AMC and Garmin are there to buy boxes and sponsor the team. Plus like I said all downtowns look alike so why have another but in a dead city? It would be embarrassing for Kansas City Missouri so yes having it on the Kansas side smarter but they rich and you don’t get rich being stupid so they won’t pay. Also it would upset and embarrass kcmo even more losing them. They already lost the mls team and had first dibs on the speedway but screwed that up. They just lost American royal again as well they went to Kansas. They only got the chiefs and the royals left. We will see tho.
I should mention the stadium as is right now well it’s epic so why let concrete parking lots and a highway ruined such a perfect building?? It’s also an amazing shape too even the Chiefs contradicted what the Royals lied about saying wtf are they talking about we love it have no issues don’t want to move and both stadiums were built at the same time using the same people in the same concrete the chiefs said haha
