Of course the exact time this went live (11/15/22 at 5pm CT) was the exact time news broke of a new plan to move the Royals out of Kauffman Stadium to a new downtown ballpark. Oops.
@@SACSportsAdventuresthat’s what cars are for! When you build ballparks downtown, it conflicts with other traffic. I don’t see the point in wasting money like America loves doing.
@@SACSportsAdventuresdowntown ballparks suck, there is little room to park or tailgate. Kauffman allows plenty of space for tailgating and the traffic flow in and out of games isn’t bad at all. That will completely change if we build downtown.
As a Cleveland fan I've never liked the Royals, but I gotta say I'm impressed by that stadium. The shape of the upper seating is pretty cool and I'm always partial to open layouts like they have in the outfield. Also, I had no idea that KC is associated with waterfalls, the fountains make a ton more sense now lol
Right? I didn’t know about the waterfalls either until digging into it some more. Super cool nod. I love the sleek open layout of the ballpark and the curve to the upper deck!
It’s a great stadium but the location is probably the worst in all of MLB. There’s absolutely no place to get food or drinks before or after games because it’s out in the middle of nowhere. It would have been better if it was built in downtown KC. One of the great things about seeing a game in Cleveland is grabbing a bite at a bar&grill surrounded by baseball fans all fired up for the game and then walking over to the ballpark.
The reason for the crescent shaped upper deck is that every seat inside the foul poles has a direct sightline to 2nd base. It was a really well thought out stadium when constructed. Also, the original bullpens were perpendicular to the field with a row of seats up front for the players to watch next to the GA seats. During hot summer afternoon games, Closer Jeff Montgomery would spray the GA fans with the bullpen garden hose. Thanks for a great video.
My son and I are going to watch KC vs Oakland A's on May 5, 2023. We're excited about it! Had to get the tour before going, so I visited your channel lol
@@WoodenFilms It was good!!! The food was terrible...We went to order a hot dog and on the menu it had pics of a hotdog, fries and coke. You would think its a meal...Well, you end up having to pay for all three separately. Then, you have to go to another station to get condiments lol. Other than that everything was great!
With the apparent plans to build a downtown park, I gotta make sure that I go in the next few years. Kauffman definitely seems to have some life left, however. Good video!
@@SACSportsAdventuresthat makes zero sense. Atlanta had a ballpark downtown and wound up moving to the Suburbs. There should be a Salary Cap in MLB like the other leagues.
Great video. I am a big Royals fan and love that stadium. The waterfalls give it a feel that no other stadium has. It's a shame the Royals want to move.
The tunnel you referenced is actually for grounds crew and field access. There is a surface lot between the two stadiums that the Royals players use. Also there is an underground parking area between the stadiums that the players use with tunnels that run to both stadiums. As for the "bacon" concession it's actually chocolate covered strawberries and bananas.
Gotta get yourself to St. Louis my friend. I have a feeling you’ll love Busch. Like you, I have a passion seeing other ball parks. I’ve visited American Family (Miller), Wrigley, Target Field and obviously Busch. I’m planning on getting to Guaranteed Rate in Chicago this coming year when the Cards visit.
That’s awesome! Guaranteed Rate is totally under appreciated. I really loved it when I visited and have a video from that visit as well (if you haven’t seen it yet). Busch is high up on my list of places I want to visit and I’m hoping to get up to Target Field this coming summer!

Hey sac love the video I have a recommendation since Chicago not to far can you do the Chicago wolves stadium arena which I think is the Allstate arena
Yes! That is on my list for this winter! That is now my most requested video (after I did the Camp Randall one). @@SACSportsAdventures sweet thank you!! We’re going next month and then again in September to see the Yankees(im a Yankees fan) so it’ll be perfect timing!! Thank you so much for the video!!
I know. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s far away from downtown and they make you pay for parking there rather than take public transit.
I hope they replace it with a stadium that keeps a lot of the same design elements, instead of looking like every other stadium built in the last 20 years

I remember how the stadium looked before the modern renovations … man that place was ugly. What made it worse was that they had astroturf in a baseball-only park which never made sense. Glad to see they eventually put seats in the outfield.
@Unkle Salty- The astroturf was long gone by the the time they did the 2007-2009 renovations. From around 1993 when they got rid of the astro turf until 2007 when they did the modern renovations it was just as beautiful as it is now. You must not be very familiar with the stadium.
@@ibrown3KC I am familiar with it since the mid 80s. No doubt that stadium looks great now but back in the 80s when I started watching baseball I always thought the then-Royals Stadium just looked so depressing ... and TOO green.
@@unklesalty3732 Well yes, in the 80s it was kinda crappy looking with, as you mentioned, the artificial turf. What I was saying was that, when they got rid of the artificial turf in 1993, or so, brought the walls in to 375 in the power alleys and 400 in center, and had fountains all around, and added the jumbotron in left center and had the truck you could bit sitting on that hill in left, I think it looked every bit as great as it does now. And yhat was from around 93-94 until the newer renovations of 2007-2009.
They had turf to increase the likelihood there would be a game in case of bad weather. Their fans drove long distances to the game and they needed to make sure there was a quick drying surface. At least that was the explanation back then.

Kansas City has been called the City of Fountains for some time now. There are some 200+ fountains scattered throughout the city.
