So I have spent the last 30 years of my life working in remote and weird locations in the mining industry. Hands down the best toilet solution I have come across was incinerating toilets at an underground mine in Colorado, they were on a timer and we would burn them off between shifts. Worst solution was a composting toilet that liked to boil over and flood the area with raw sewage.

The smell is a little strange, but you'll get used to it. You won't want to run it while anyone is on the deck. You can use it twice, before you burn. And mine never smelled between times, even with a previous load waiting. You can make your own liner papers. (You'll go through your 1000, sooner than you might expect.) Get some baking parchment paper. Unfold one of the current liners and use it as a pattern. It's as simple as cutting the parchment paper to size, and folding it. Saved me tons of money!

Keep warm and watch for signs of hypothermia, tight boots and gloves are not good, keep the blood flowing and use layers. Puppies too. I look forward to a snow removal video and how you are doing with the cold. Cameras hate cold, dry rice and a ziplock after each cold use helps to reduce condensation.

Guys, thank you for this useful information. I watch your channel for ideas to address issues that every remote, difficult-to-reach setting deals with. Hands down one of the best lower-cost, low-smell, remote-location solutions I've seen that the females in our family will accept. Your is a good near-term solution while other projects are being completed during the same period, given the upfront costs of a septic system vs. an incinerator toilet plus the near-term costs of two other projects. Available solar power compared to propane costs is the right direction. It would be amazing if the company improved the ash handling with a built-in "fireplace" ash vacuum. I handle the RV tanks for the family. There are good solutions for every problem if you search. I found a black & gray tank adapter that creates a high-pressure water jet from a garden hose. The clean water jet acts as a "no-power required" RV macerator that turns everything in the holding tanks into liquid. The combined fresh & waste liquid then travels at high pressure via a waste garden hose placed into a septic tank or sewer inlet. You can see when the black & gray tanks are emptied because the water jet adapter is clear. You allow the clean water to flow for a few mins to rinse waste tanks and garden hose. One of the best RV gadgets I've found. The incinerator information is useful, and the toilet sled was funny. Thank you for providing important, useful information creatively.

When I was young back in the dark ages of the 60’s, we lived on a farm in a 20x22 house with no running water. Life was very much simpler back then. Want water, go outside with a bucket and hand pump the water out of the cistern. You need to go to the bathroom, walk down the part 75’ away from the back door and go in the outhouse. It was a two holes with a moon cut in the door. Dig a hole a few feet deep and put the outhouse over it. Keep a bag of lime inside with a cup and put some in once in a while so it wouldn’t smell bad. My Mom was so excited when we finally got a well and running water, she went out and set it on fire. The problem was the electric pole was only a few feet away and it caught on fire. Good thing we had running water! Put the pole fire out with the garden hose! Good time had by all!

I know it doesn't really mean much, but if I have to go through 2 walls like you did, I would use the long 1/4 inch drill bit first. That way I know exactly where the second hole needs to be cut. Most hole saws have a 1/4 inch pilot bit. Automatic alignment. Just keep the long bit that goes through both walls at the same time as straight and level as possible

You look way too young to be making this cardinal sin that you have been making: Before about 1973, electrical delivery voltage was nominally specified as 115 or 230 volts. Before 1968 it was approximated as 110 or 220 volts. Now that you are talking about modern systems (since 2000) you should know the utilities target 120 or 240 volts. Even your inverters should say that right on them! Maybe you are around "old" people a lot?
Also curious about your location. You have California plates on one of your vehicles but the porta potty had an Idaho phone number on it. Where are you (roughly)?
The toilet solution looks extremely reasonable. Congratulations on finding that and for sharing it!

Do you have to burn every poop or can you poop a few times, with ventilation, and burn it once you have a few "loads"? You have a lot of panels but 2kWh seems like a lot of energy for one poop.

You guys are the Gold standard of multiple categories. Who would've thought I'd spend close to a half hour watching something about doo doo. Way more fun than watching the doo doo on TV, haha Best to you both!

...anyone else think the paper liner for that toilet looked like a really big coffee filter?
I'm not proud of that observation by the way 😵‍💫
