Im also doing solar and wind. We don't get much sun in Michigan during the winter, so the wind power will be awesome added to the system. I am slowly piecing the system together. As in I don't have enough to outright purchase everything all at once. I have the wind turbine sitting here waiting for the charge unit, and one battery. I have 400 watt solar total in panels, but, none of it is hooked up as of yet considering the batteries are the most expensive portion considering how many you need. I also have a parent living with me on air, so we can't have the electricity go out without a big enough system to at least charge her portable so it all works together. This video was extremely helpful to me . I haven't set up the turbine yet because I didn't know what I was in for . Now I do. Thanks for showing me I will need someone with welding skills to help! Welding on camera is like doing math on camera. I appreciate you learning in front of us. A tip with those little welders take your propane torche and heat up the thick metal first then weld on it. It will turn out alot nicer.

My buddy a trucker gave me two 12v inverters from wrecked highway trucks, and I built my mobile power cart in case of outage (steel shop cart, Princess Auto / Harbour Freight) The catalyst for me was ONE of the two inverters. a Xantrex 1800HF which is often used in marine applications and charges the battery bank by mains power and provides 1800 watts of AC. I bought one 13.8v 280Ah and want to add at least one more for my system. Also already added a Road Pro 3000 watt. Now I really need a second battery to be sure I have enough supply current to get full power out of those inverters. Next is an XP6000 and a move to 48v.

Offgrid Jay and Jen are Awesome! I bought my 1st Eco-Worthy products on a Good Friday Deal and they arrived Dec 5th, 2 100 watt bifacial solar panels, the 1st day I set them up they peaked out at 197 watts, I m very pleased with them. $56 per panel.
When it wasn’t spinning I wondered if you had it in break. I think if the leads are shorted together it can cause the wind mill to stop spinning. Don’t quote me on this. Here in north Texas we get good wind but I would have to raise it above the trees to capitalize on it. I still may try wind one day. All the best from north Texas.

You would think It would come with a bearing mount so it could swivel and track the wind, like the old farmhouse rooster wind veins. A ridged mount would brake if the wind was coming from any side. I get it would also need some type of clock spring for the electrical connections otherwise the wires will twist and eventually break. Sounds like someone in the R&D departments dropped the ball with only half an idea. I can believe that you guys Jay and Jen were the first to have this problem. Good job pointing out issues. thank you for your video.Sounds like they need to sponsor you guys and put you on the payroll for field R&D. lol
i run 2 12v wind turbines and 1 soon to be 2 48v turbines. i agree with the mount getting a clamp style ordered soon. as for welding ... not too bad for first try its all in technique . im loving the off grid life learned a lot doing it and researched it years before making the jump.

Off Grid Jay is awesome. This video is perfect timing as I was just looking at small turbines to supplement my system with. I would love to win an eco-worthy battery. On a side note, near the end you showed how out of balance those two batteries are. I am glad that you are going to switch to parallal as the current configuration will stop charging when that one battery hits 100% before the other one and disconnects the batteries.
