Last year when the Panthers played them, I went on Leaf fan sites and found most of them to be quite reasonable and when I said this, people laughed at me. I know better now, but ultimately it's really just fans being fans and 1% being complete idiots.

He DIDN'T he thrust up and outward , skates leaving the ice, elbow primary contact was the jaw. How that wasn't a match penalty is beyond me. If he isn't suspended disband the DOPS
I like how hes pushing aside the dirty plays and saying "I get how they feel", or "Sure its a minor penalty". But NOPE 5-3 IS WHAT COST US TO LOSE THE GAME POOR OFFICIATING FOR US. Nothing else, only officiating was bad against us, not the fact the Panthers lost their Captain who isnt a dirty player, and is the heart of the Panthers teams. Imagine if Bennett did that to McDavid, how does your opinion change? Then its holy shit how is X player not arrested and charged with attempted murder. Get real, talk about the game unbiasedly.

Actually that call was correct. It depends on what network you were watching. The one I was watching here in Florida, they had a rules expert that agreed with the announcers that the call was correct. If you watch closely, the puck is 'double-hit' with the second hit coming after the puck was past the blue line. Even if replay had been allowed for that call, it would not have been overturned.
if you think #29 shouldn't be suspended, Both #29 and #97 are free game the rest the way and DONT complain with a dirty hit against them

i think if the league wants to stop this type of play they need to stop phucking around and call the penalties evenly regardless of how important the game is. calls on both ends were missed, and Draisaitl deserved far more than 2 minutes

He breaks that hit down frame by frame and shows you that Draisaitl not only committed a penalty but that he definitively was attempting to harm Barkov. He proves that Draisaitl never even looks at the puck and is directly targeting Barkov's head.

I said Florida in 5 at the start of the series, if the Panthers get 25 shots or more in any game the Oilers will lose, Skinner and that D core can’t allow shots , the more shots the bigger the probability that the puck is in the net,,, but there’s another stat people should know, in the Stanley Cup Finals the team that wins the 2 first games of the final have won 68% of the time ,,, PS I agree with you the NHL should throw players out like #29of the Oilers on 16 of Florida should of been gone for at least 2 to 4 games, penalize the play not the intent

It’s not about the Oilers stars. They are losing because of a lack of depth. Geez you Oilers homers are on glue. They aren’t getting anything from third and fourth lines much less their second. Then they fall behind and are forced to leave the big 3 on the ice for 15 minutes of the third. These guys are out of gas and starting to really show wear and tear. Huge hill to climb. Oil will always have a chance with McDavid out there but something has to give. If this team fails badly in this series it is over for this core.

@@frankpropri540 Definitely not saying I wouldn't rather be up 2-0 in any scenario. Just saying that looking purely at the statistical odds is not accurate. A team with Edmonton's firepower can win 4 out 5 against anybody just like Florida can win 4 out of 5 against anybody. If Barkov were to remain out and let's say another top Florida player went out, would you be saying that Edmonton only has a 9% chance of winning? I'd say right now with Barkov back that their odds are about 1 in 5 or 6.

Being a fan of 2 Eastern Conference teams I’ve never really paid attention to Oilers fans. After two games I have to say they are Trash tier, right up there with Philly, Boston, and Rangers fans.

These Oilers came out flat in games 1 and 2. Whether going back to Rogers Place will help them still remains TBD.
Wouldn’t say they came out flat at all in Game 1. Oilers were absolutely flying, outshot Florida and had more high danger chances with odd-man rushes. Difference was Bob vs Skinner.
I think what you’re witnessing is how the Panthers upon getting a lead grinds you into dust.
Unfortunately Skinner is no Igor, so chances are slim in keeping the game close enough for puck luck to balance out.

Of course the owners want this type of physical play, of course the league wants this type of physical play! The fans want this type of play, and id be willing to bet 85% of players want this type of physical play! This is hockey its a physical sport. Nothing needs to change. Dirty hits deserve a penalty. Thats how we get good power plays. What do we want a league of just connor bedards dancing around the ice never hitting each other?? This sports popularity has soared the last few years because its still a physical sport. The nfl has been ruined because of how soft it has become. Lets see what happens if the players saftey union starts banning more hits and handing out bigger fines!? Popularity of the sport will diminish quickly. This is hockey, a mans sport! If u dont like it watch figure skating.
Hitting is fine. That his was dirty. And it should be addressed. IF someone had dropped gloves and whipped Drai either there or on the next faceoff there would have been a suspension. The league should either handle it, or let the teams settle it on the ice next game. Hopefully McD or Drai keep their heads on a swivel near the end of the game.
