Yeah in the comics he wasn't a "brainmaster" he was just a guy Who Loved Primus a little too much LOL
So, they gave him ratchets not strong enough to hold his own weight and at the same time they are making a combining Victory Leo? Seriously?
....He can’t hold his own weight ??? Do you own one ? I thought so ...
I don't own this but I heard multiple complaints about the joints.

It’s a known issue. Very common. Luckily his partner comes with upgrade parts to fix it.
Victory leo comes with upgrades that solve all this guy's problems, which mind you I never had any problems with my copy but I still installed the upgrades.
I could have died happily without ever noticing how close the eyes are. Now I'm dying inside.
That alt mode is nice. Ty for another review

The head sculpt is excellent, I think all the hyper G1 stuff is starting to get to you Bobby.
He doesn't know anything about g1 saber, his talking with idw saber in mind and yes, the eyes are too close, I'd also say the chin shape is wrong, but thats easier to forgive.
I couldn’t place my finger on it, but you did. It’s all the soft ratchets that make him so floppy. He tends to lean a lot and his knees can’t hold his weight. I find standing him up straight to be super annoying and difficult. I thought it was just my copy. I even took his knees apart to see why the ratchets weren’t working. I thought mine were worn out, but maybe they aren’t - it’s just because of the soft ratchets. I enjoy this figure still, but not as much as I would if the ratchets were better.
I love him but I don’t think I’ll get that Leo those ratchets won’t handle it I think. I’m fine as he is.

HASBRO needs to release a Generations STARSABER in the Siege line. They always milk their molds, so go ahead and milk the JETFIRE mold and give us a Siege STARSABER, HASBRO!

Got him today and I am amazed! Honestly I really like his face, it has a look between idw and victory which I really like

Not relevant to my interests but still like to watch these IDW figure videos. Looks like a nice piece and great review of it. If I was into IDW I'd be getting this for sure!

Man, you seriously nailed the negatives with this figure. I finally sold him off today after months of trying to convince myself to like this figure. But it’s so wobbly and I can’t get him to stand up straight.
I really like this figure but still torn. I don’t really have a history with the character but I just like the look. Great review and appreciate the candid comments on the figure.
@Bobby Skullface if you leave the nose cone connected, when you swivel the back pack 180, you can flip the nose up on his back swivel the tip of the nose 180 and use that metal tab to secure the top so it stays secure. This gives the more IDW look while the shoulder mount is a more G1 aesthetic.
@Bobbyskullface great review as usual. Question, if the back boosters/wings are able to move for transformation why would you need to spin the entire backpack to get it out the way when articulating the arm? Or is it stuck in place in robot mode?
Great review, almost bought it but was hoping you would review it first so I had an idea whether I should buy it. Since I don't have a connection to the character, and the negatives are fairly significant to me, I am gonna pass. Looks beautiful tho.

Do you have the sword backwards on purpose during the final thoughts and photoshoot?
Hope they release a G1 kit with a new head, Guns for both Star Saber and Saber, and a small sword for Saber. Or Pack them in with their Victory Leo.
The design is so different to G1 saber G1 heads would look out of place, plus theres already a cartoon perfect mp.
@@HAGZ0483 Look up Flame toys star saber, This is what it would look like with a G1 Kit, G1 type head, and the IDW body. Perfect combination
@@HAGZ0483 Doesn't have to be slavish G1. Just something a little better sculpted and painted around the eyes. Neither the comic or anime had a red face underneath the face plate.

Hey Bobby, I can’t find it if you have, but no review of Seige JetFire? Maybe Hasbro’s best non-masterpiece figure ever? Probably not, but nice. A comparison vid to FT Phoenix would be awesome.

Really interesting decision to put this out so close to the Flame Toys Star Saber. I know they appeal to slightly different crowds but Star Saber is one of those characters that's likely going to spend it's shelf existence in robot mode anyway so... yeah.
To be fair, the Flame Toys version is smaller, non transforming and more than twice as expensive. I don't think they are in direct competition.

Hmmm. I need to read the comic and see if this wows me. I love the Victory version, but IDW made a huge departure in the design. I’m slowly catching up with the rest of the world in reading the IDW comics.
Brainmaster, not Breastmaster, lol!! That's mixing it up with the Breastforce (Deathsaurus and the Liokaiser peeps), the Decepticons whose gimmick was that their triple changer chest armor pops off to become critters and then weapons.
The Brainmasters (regular Saber and the three cars that make up Road Caesar) were the Autobots, whose gimmick was that they have tiny little peeps who can pilot the vehicle (similar to Headmasters), but for robot mode, they go *into* the chest, and closing the chest slides up the face...so they have crap for head articulation.
And just in terms of Japanese G1, Starsaber was the name of the combined form. Why? I have no clue, they just decided that Saber should have a combined name for his combined/Super mode with the V-Star jet trailer thingy.
This seems like an okay figure, but the scale seems super funky like Maketoys "Thunder Manus" Super Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus (super mode is like Leader sized, regular mode is almost Legends sized)...ehhh, the MP is perfect for me. Lil' Saber is about Voyager sized, and big ol' Starsaber seems like he could be on par with (a little bigger than) the likes of CHUG Combiners so he can layeth some smacketh down!!

I see that Planet-X has been paying attention to Maketoys with those ankles. Gorgeous figure, too bad it's hardware is not up to the task of transforming with Leo. It'll be a mess.

He need the ratchet joint thats on Perfect Effects Revived Prime. That figure shoulder ratchet joints are too tight for its on good. Also, Planet X should had learn that the soft ratchets didnt work for the Masterpiece Saber so you would thought they would had learn from them when its comes to the joints
5:40 given the thickness of the 'back pack' and the way it fits into the chest of the 'mech suit', would it really have been to much to ask for a chamber to store "The Matrix"?

Can't sign off with you that he's not stable neither I can agree his stability is an issue. This is your opinion and my copy has not should up yet. However from looking at this and some others Planet x was going the action figure slash transformer path. To be clear, its up the purchaser to find poses that Kamdos can pull off. Looks like he's made to pull of poses you think he'll fall to the ground but won't. As far as standing, highlighting his back and extra passenger in his chest, it looks like knees locked will not hold the body weight unless the knees are bent and legs moved a notch back for forward, if that makes any sense. I'll have to be the judge when I mess with him.
I have him and that diecast allows him to hold poses that I sear are witchcraft with how loose the ratchets are. He held a one leg until my cat found him lol
He isn't a breast master. The smaller robot is the real robot, Saber. The combined mode is a super mode.
MP is easily replaced by this thing. I mean, it can hold the sword correctly, as oppose to the MP holding it with the blade sideways, which ticked me off to no end,
