This reminds me of a thing Bobby usually says about sacrifices. I'm glad they made a sacrifice for the saber robot to give us a more statuesque looking star saber. When I first saw it I thought it was actually not going to transform; that it was just a statue with good articulation. And it does look 10 times if not 50 times better than that MP release . With a little more tweaking I think this thing could've been a straight win. I am going to pick it up because it poses very well. Thx Bobby for showing!

@@nephilim6001 im hopefully getting my copy this month. And i very very much hope they actually do release the victory leo. This (hopefully) rendition of victory saber will look great next to my haslab victory saber. If we do get the victory leo for this version of star saber, ill be leaving my haslab version in alt mode and this victory saber in bot mode. Hopefully if victory leo is released, we get his giant shield to complete the look as ik the haslab version is coming with allllll his goodies
Most impressive figure I've held in aloooong time
I've had it since the original release. I was lukewarm on it to begin with, but it's grown a lot on me. It's a fantastic first attempt from a new company.

Growing up in Southeast Asia, not gonna lie, Star Saber was every bit the Autobot commander to me as G1 Optimus Prime was. Got MP-24 in a heartbeat and KFC Simba to complete Victory Saber. Unfortunately, MP-24 has not aged well with bad yellowing on his white parts, probably from the strong sun here in Singapore. Hmm...conflicted.
7:07 - Based on an older video, when you "Combiner Wars" a part but to the side, that's called "the Sidewinder"
When I saw this first I thought it was one of those extremely well detailed and articulated transformer figures that didn’t even transform. Color me impressed!
Oh well Star Saber trasformation was always pretty basic, not much engineering needed, and they did not even pull it right in this one. you can almost consider this a non transforming action figure and in this mindset it seems pretty amazing
@@davidez4640 Honestly, the alt-mode doesn't matter to me. Once their Victory Leo arrives, they will be bot mode separately or in combined mode.

Davide Z Oh man sorry for the late reply lol I mean it’s better by far, the build quality is amazing. It’s not a kids toy for sure. Take the time too slowly transform it to get the hang of it, and then it’s a breeze. Excellent figure all around one of the best releases in a while.
( edit: the alt mode is a beauty btw; let’s just say Bobby isn’t the best at that lol )

I'm very excited for the reissue of this which is coming out soon. I will have the Planet X, Hasbro MP, and this one. And I will be getting the lions for each. I like how they are all different enough IDW comic, cartoon show, and anime style. I'll have one in combined jet mode, one in combined robot mode, and one where they are standing next to each other. I do really hope Iron factory makes a star saber soon since they are doing a leo kaiser. Plus he was in the IDW comics and Iron factory usually makes IDW comic characters.

JediLateForTheBattleAgainOhWell it has only friction joints which are like really tight so he’s mostly for display might be stufff to replace the joints.

I would melt the screw covers to create a couple of forearm covers for the smaller jet in robot mode lol. I don't like a Star Saber enough to get a figure, but this is well made. Thanks for the video, sir! :)
The hilt is the scariest of all the extras in that kit . Lots of times I thought I was gonna just break it like a toothpick .
The shoulder transformation when going into the V star mode was kind of dodgy as you need to angle the joints to shimmy into place.
Overall the figure is waaay waaaay much better than the MP 24 junk Takaratomy pumped out in a haste.
Definitely a good recommend from Bobby
It looks cool, but the forearm side that receives the alloy elbow joint shaft is the exterior plastic, so if you touch it a little, the shaft hole will expand and the elbow will be in a state where the joint is not astringent. It was a little toy that I couldn't touch with confidence.

Is it just me or did Bobby go into bullet time when he was talking about the s-word handle?

There are ankle rockers in the big robot, you just need to extend the feet a little more.
I'd put this one up there with Cang toys. It's not bad, but feel it's still a bit too stylized and "toy" looking to where it falls just short of MP quality. If you're thirsty for anything Transformers then this will scratch that itch, but expecting to see stuff like this for sale under retail in groups in like 8 months.
I don’t see your point , what does it being stylized have to do with anything about it falling short of an MP. No disrespect, but that makes absolutely no sense. Also I really don’t even know what you mean about scratching itches. There are plenty of other transformers out there to buy that people actually have some attachment to. This is a unique character, one that not many are fond of.

Subjectivity? if only you’d hold this figure you’ll realize it doesn’t feel, weighs or like like a child’s toy at all.( if that is what you mean ) Lol 😂 seriously what hole do you people come out of. Takara Starsaber looks more cartoonish and toyish looking than this.

To be fair, i've seen a lot of figures weaken while u r handling them 😉😁. But really this guy looks great, the transformation even looks like i imagine it would look in a cartoon! 😁👍🏼
The lack of ratchets alone isn't at all a deal-breaker to me, but with the Victory Leo release still coming, it does make me rather worried about how well this can handle all the additional weight, something else the Takara one did not pull off well with the KFC upgrades. Maybe we'll get especially lucky and IronTrans will release some fun extra parts with their Victory Leo!?
How is the quality of this iron trans star saber? MP 24 and haslab ones too exprnsive. I am considering this one.
i just got my today, i am happy mp 24 star saber with star blade, i need more..maybe i go get that plant X star saber even that version is crazy star saber. fyi mp star saber and star blade not same size..the star blade more abit taller
The colors are so dark on this ver. When you compared it to the official mp starsaber it reminded me of Superman 3, you know where Superman fights the evil dirty looking copy of himself lol
my only gripe is that it should have more yellow, if they announce an animation color for pre order ill be all in
Great review..design is nice ....hardware not so much.
He looks great, but the lack of rockers in the ankle is a major bummer and I think the red looks a little washed out. Normally those 2 things wouldn't be a big enough problem for me that id pass on something that looks this cool, but something about this just isn't calling to me. Could be the character. Great review, man.

It looks good but I think it was really poor form of them to announce a v2/improved paint & materials version in pretty much the same week it came out.
There isn't one. What they meant was the version sent to reviewers were unpainted. The confusion arose because apparently IronTrans prioritized sending stock overseas first. Customers in China received it much later, and they wanted to clarify that the colors used back in the reviewer copies then were not finalized.
Why can’t I even find “sold out” listings for this figure on the retail websites, even those sites based overseas? This figure may have its issues, but it is still pretty awesome, and I wish I hadn’t missed out it.
This one for me is way too similar to the MP on and that one really does it for me as far as anime/toy accuracy goes. It’s a bit too much money for me to get kinda the same engineering and a shoddy vehicle mode. The articulation is way better to be sure tho.
Agreed, but this one seems more geared towards the IDW comics look. Not entirely so, but it's definitely a stylized offering.

how does he scale with current TF line? Is Star Saber form the height of a combiner and the saber part the height of a voyager or leader class?

it's 2020, ankle rocker is like the most basic thing to have, he looks beautiful but it's a skip for me.
Already sold out everywhere domestically so they obviously did ok.
I find it kind of odd how about the last dozen or so 3P releases I've had any interest in. but were met with tons of harsh criticism have been releases that completely sold out, often even their reissue. Not sure if the 3P success is still very significant, or if too many people just like to complain for attention. Both, maybe?

So it seems like it's great if you're gonna keep it in bot mode(s), but that transformation looks horrible.
The transformation is fine. using the correct wheels makes a huge difference. the biggest issue I have is getting the little jet into the booster module. that was one of the most unpleasant things i had todo the first time.
The vehicles look pretty derpy. I'm not a fan of the sculpting. I prefer the anime look from the Takara version.
Lack of a proper ankle pivot on a figure this day and age is big oof, especially if the figure is on the larger end of the spectrum.
Its a great looking figure but i'm in the same boat, since I'm not really invested in the character and space isn't infinite I've got to pass.
Is this just a stylized version of the masterpiece?
