Are you guys looking at the same car? This car is gorgeous. To me it kind of has a poor man's Veyron shape to it and I don't mean that in a bad way. To come up with something near this attractive that could come even close to handling as well, Ford had to go back almost 50 years to come up with the GT. You can see Renault went retro with the Alpine 110 name, but they didn't at all copy the car. This thing is truly a modern car with a sort of homage to the original Alpine. Thus the colour.
Why don't they build 200 of these and sell them for way too much, or try it the audi way when they came up with the R8. I adore french cars, but why do they avoid anything above a hot hatch in terms of power? Is it laws? Is there even a petrol v6 being built in france right now? Why no proper sports cars? Pourquoi ne produitent-t'ils pas 200 exemplaires et les vendent à un prix bcp trop élevé ou le font comme audi avec leur r8? J'adore les voitures francaises mais pourquoi ne font ils plus rien au dessus des compactes sportives en termes de performance? Wikipedia entry says it was built based on a tubular chassis, the same the Megane Trophy race car uses. Perhaps the differences to a road car (in terms of what the law requires) were too large to make this viable financially. What a cool car though, I hope it did not get retired. Sounds way too good to disappear in a museum. The view out of the windscreen is the stuff of dreams, like driving a LMP prototype.

Why driving it this hard and fast? It increases the risk that the same thing happen with this unique car that did happen with the Mazda Furai, and that would be sad. If taken out and driven (which is good) - concept cars like this one (or the GT by Citroen, Peugeot Onyx, Audi Avus, Ford GT90, Volkswagen W12) should be driven carefully. Where is it, by the way? In a museum?

They are built for other reasons, for example to show the world what the company can do technically or to show the future of the design on up-coming regular models. Secondly - if you mean that the engine would be overheated even if the car was driven extremely slow, what makes you receive that purpose? Third - you're right about that thing, at least, that it in this case luckily enough seems to be a skilled test driver.
Now with the Renault museum. There are 2 of them, and 1 full electric EV version too. Its got a Nissan GTR engine, minus the Turbos. But develops more power !. Just on revs alone by the sound of it. Pure music.
2012? It’s 2020 as I type and this still looks like a glimpse from 10 years in the future. A true symphony for the eyes as well as ears. Magnificent.
