As a recent grad of aviator PPG training, i find these types of videos incredibly inciteful and always have info i end up keeping in the back of my head for when ive finally saved up enough for equipment. Thanks for doing these
Dell's quick release harness is a real life saver😊😊😊
I recently went down in thigh deep water while foot dragging. I lost a few inches of altitude, my feet and my cage created instant drag, and I went face first under the water. I was able to hear my motor still spinning on my back and hit the kill switch before I surfaced. I fortunately trudged out with only losing my shoes to the muddy bottom and shorting out my ignition on my throttle. I will never foot drag water ever again.
Sounds scary, I have never attempted it, and probably never will. It's outside my risk tolerance.
Always remember this in a river the inside Bank on the inside of the curve is very steep compared to the bank on the outside of the curve. If you are within ten feet of the shore on the outside of the curve where the stuff is depositing you probably are going to be in knee-deep water. The difficulty is not the parachute dragging you away so much if you have current in the parachute gets the lines away from you you have a better chance the difficulty is you get tangled up in those lines and that are tight cloth wrapped around you trying to get to the top and you're in trouble.
I got a quick release from Andy on the Nitro and love it!!
We had our share of incidents in Puerto Rico. We fly with a inflatable on our waist and in the paramotor. If you hit hard and loose consciousness you could drown anyway. 😮
Back in the day we would get a knife with a really good sheath that you can strap/mount with in a quick reach to cut lines or harness if necessary!!
When operating low, fly into the wind whenever possible.
When flying low over water, fly downwind and down stream.
@@TrevorSteele1 I'd hate to be incorrect about operating low. Please explain, in a future video perhaps. Many thanks!
You can significantly reduce risk by not foot dragging moving water.
That too
Have you tried the quick release on a scout harness yet? Scout had their own quick release harness for an XC paramotor but it was supposedly very hard to launch.
I have not yet done that
How do I get one of these in Australia ?
We could get one shipped to you!
