Back in the 80’s when I ordered a 1980 Z28 Camaro 4 speed, I had my block heater on a timer set to come on 4 hrs before I left for work in the morning. Worked well, I had heat from the coolant after 1 block of driving.
Hey Bill a little trick to make it faster getting the ice off the windshield. Take a black garbage bag, you know the really big ones, cut the sides so it's just one long skinny sheet of plastic and cover the windshield with that and tucking the ends into the front doors. You can even do the doors like that. When it's snowing and icy and you're ready to go somewhere just take the plastic off and the ice and snow will literally fall off the plastic. Fold it up and tuck it in the back of the truck and you're good to go.
Tell us more about glow plugs in a gas-powered Toyota. Block coolant heaters are designed to be plugged in when you park the vehicle at the end of the day and leave the block heater plugged in overnight. You should read your owner's manual for your truck. There is no normal reason why a 2019, 6.7 diesel should be putting any blue smoke out the exhaust. It doesn't matter how cold it is.
Well that’s not true. Block heaters and coolant heaters are not to be run overnight for any reason. Beyond 3 hours is a waste of energy even in the most extreme cold. Read the manual, indeed.
Hi Bill, did you notice the rust showing up just above the spring of F250, If you are going to keep the truck for some time you should maybe consider getting rust preventive applied.
My F-350 has never put out blue smoke during regen. There is no normal reason why a properly maintained stock unmodified 6.7 should be putting out any blue smoke. I have own mine since it was new and I have 100,000 miles on it. Strict maintenance is the key to a diesels cold weather performance. Read your owner's manual.
@@millerslawnservice7656 Maybe so I don't know. What temperature do block heaters keep the coolant at? The coolant isn't flowing so it seems that the heat would be relatively contained to a small area especially if not plugged in all night.

Bill the smoke you saw, did you notice was it in regen when you saw it? They tend to smoke when in a regen cycle

Blue smoke was probably a regen on it. And ur diesel starts right up no head or plug. Mine 6.0 😂 no plug no start is best way to put it.
