I just think of the ( fresh AIR) treatment of the Time. On all medical treatments 😊 Readers Digest OMG what a beautiful way to spend time in fresh AIR of city Harbor on treatment for young people at the time. When you think back to medical treatments it was a lot of fresh AIR for sick people 😊❤😊. What a beautiful way to treat sick people in the waterfront of NYC. These are brilliant ideas.😊 The Rooms you went in galley had fresh vegetables storage also, very important on vessels at anywhere away from berthing at dock.
When I was a child in the early 60's my mother took me to that boat to get a physical so I could go with the Fresh Air Fund. The Fund allowed NY city kids to get out of town for the summer. I went to Penn Dutch country in PA where I stayed with a non Amish family that had a working dairy/tobacco farm.
Wow, what an awesome find!! I've never even heard of something like this, had no idea it was a thing. I would love to hear some stories from former passengers/employees! Thank you Chris! Love, hugs & God Bless you 💕💕
I was amazed there wasn't any graffiti. Cool ship and a great service they did. I would love to see it turned into apartments called the barge. Thanks for the tour.
Sort of funny story (makes me laugh to remember) I was in high school in the early 1980s and we were taken on a trip to the floating hospital for a health talk. We were sitting, quietly bored when the class clown yelled “look a rubber!” And the students ran to that side of the ship to see, and the ship tilted and the teachers all ran to the other side ( a 60 to 5 ratio at best) me and a couple other students laughing our asses off in the middle, the staff trying restore order and one of the the teachers yelling how it’s not like you guys never saw a rubber in the water! Ahh, the joys of being an unfortunate youth in the city 🤣
When talking about the auditorium I imagined lots of happy kids watching the puppet show and having so much fun. I felt the nostalgia without ever even being there. Crazy feelings.
Thanks Chris I've just watched Jay's video and didn't understand why a barge/boat was used as an hospital, but you've now put into context with it's history. 😊
ITS GONNA TAKE A LOT OF TIME AND WORK AND MONEY 💵 TO RESTORE THE BOAT BACK TO LIFE AGAIN I REALLY LIKE TO SEE IT BEING SAVE AND DO SOMETHING GOOD WITH IT❤❤❤
christened in 1973... like me. Not very old , especially for the steel was advanced enough to sit in water for centuries by that time. It is a barge, so no cathodic games of decay in that way either. I hope someone does something with it.
Theres a lot of metal there. You mentioned scrap and that was my first thought when you said it was privately owned. Maybe someone has the means to get it to a yard and have it cut up instead of renovating it.
Seeing this ship made me think of when they first discovered titanic in the ocean. I loved seeing the ship underwater for 100 years then make a flashback to its former glory. And then you guys tell the story of the ship just like they did with the titanic movie. So cool
What no squatter-Captain to helm the abandoned/derelict ship? In fact this could become a home for the home-less. Anyway interesting, but not enough to finish.
Filth and peeled paint. But appears structurally sound. You did mention it was listing. But it's still afloat and that in itself says that someone is still tending to it in some manner. The majority of what I saw looked like modern living spaces, a big clean-up and a repaint would go a long way.
when you said “will you just look at it”, you were releasing your inner edbassmaster. hahaha great video too! always love your videos dude. especially when you colab, because you get two different versions. 😀
It wasn't until I had the ear test in school when the tones or ringing began. Im almost 40 and the ringing is sporadic and I never forgot that it began on the day they asked to hold up a hand when I heard the high frequency noise. Seeing how high-frequency sound waves have been used in wars, I've always assumed the ear test is nothing what it seems.
Asbestos . Lead paint. Rat droppings bird and human poop. Heck yeah lets explore ! Lol. Thanks for taking us there so we don’t have to. Great video. I love this stuff.
Yup. It bugs the hell out of me that explorers simply disregard their own safety. This will come back to haunt them 10, 20, maybe 30 years later. But to each their own, can't force people to protect themselves from deadly materials.
Ya'll should give it to Lammont at Large and create Lammont at Large Land. Like there's blood and guts coming from the rides and a Lammont costume who tells the kids to go away and "What do you want kid?"
You pointed to the "engine" room on the map, but never showed it? ..The only mechanical thing you showed was an air handler but I wanted to at least see where the generator or engine once set. Many river going building/barges (a lot of riverboat casinos) have an electric jet pump in the "engine" room (like a jet ski) to provide jet propulsion for the purpose of remaining stationary in the river or minor steering while being towed. A riverboat (barge) that contains people, must have a enough propulsion to push it toward shore if the towboat breaks free or becomes disabled.
Jay's video has an interesting and different perspective - ua-cam.com/video/p3STbWiSaB8/v-deo.htmlsi=cCf1IxtO5KM2Q6U5

Saw Jay's then found yours 😊
If the walls could talk ❤
Enjoy the explore , be careful
Was this video shot in Kingston NY? I Know there was/is such a hospital barge sitting in the Roundout where it meets the Hudson river
I think this is in my town. If I'm right I know a couple kids that made use of that 1 clean bathroom
Cool video! I wish you would do more collaborations with Lamont
1870’s to the early 2000’s, first time I’ve ever even heard of one?
Learn something new everyday
😅
Interesting, being that it was winterized means that someone really cared about this boat. God Bless the well meaning people.
Boat isn't even 50 years old. Crying shame its in shambles sitting to rot. I suppose when the tap runs dry what else is one to do.
A part of History I have Never heard about & I'm 70. Very Interesting. Thank You for making this Video 😊

Neat
When I grew up as one of those " less fortunate " children I'd have though of being out on that barge as the greatest thing ever .
Wow, very little graffiti! Another great find !

I LMAO when you said beaker and the Muppet Beaker popped up! 😂 Thank you for that! 😂😂😂
9:47 I found "meow scles" way funnier than I should as a 30 year old
Ready up!
What a great public service.
Thank you, Chris❤
I was amazed there wasn't any graffiti. Cool ship and a great service they did. I would love to see it turned into apartments called the barge. Thanks for the tour.
There was though.
The kitchen and all is in surprisingly great shape for it's age.wow❤
I am always amazed at the abandoned places you find. Thank you for sharing with us.

Looks in better shape than most HUD housing groups.

So fascinating and so well presented. Thanks for another gem, Chris

You're so low key for such a unique amazing find!! Thnx 👍☺️
What a great idea for a boat. Thanks for the tour Chris.

Awesome job 👍 just finished Jay’s video 👍👍👍
I'm astounded it's still floating, wouldn't it be great if someone fixed her up. It would make an incredible end of days ship. She's gorgeous 🇦🇺🌈
And no graffiti..love it😊
“This looks like a P.A system” “I don’t know “ while looking at a cabinet that says Public Address System 😂
I busted up laughing at that as well 😂😂
Wow amazing thank you for sharing!!
Now that’s a party barge,
Think out of da box 👍💯🤔😎
You could host a wicked party on dat barge
Thank you sir
Awesome video Chris.
Thanks
Very nice sharing, thank you👍👍👍👍
Great thanks for sharing.
Thank you for another amazing video!
New to your channel! and I’m in LOVE - with the content that is 😍 totally up my alley and can’t wait to binge watch! 🙌
I had to have surgery to insert tubes into my ears. I remember being in a room like that in Annapolis after it. It just seemed like yesterday.
Seeing this ship made me think of when they first discovered titanic in the ocean. I loved seeing the ship underwater for 100 years then make a flashback to its former glory. And then you guys tell the story of the ship just like they did with the titanic movie. So cool
If those walls could talk ……..
Pretty damn cool Chris.....🤟
I actually think playing paintball on that barge would be pretty cool 👍👍👍
Yeah it would be an awesome place to play
Hell yeah it would! Either that or haunted boat attraction 😁
Amazing, something in NY thats not been defaced with grafitti, bet that will change now when they see this video! great job as always Chris
Great video. Thanks for the adventure. Thats cool.
I love watching both jay and your videos of the same location! I like the different views and narrative
Very interesting video I never knew this type of boat existed. What a treat for the children.
While filming the sign that says "public address system" he says "i think its a PA system" "idk tho" 😂
What no squatter-Captain to helm the abandoned/derelict ship? In fact this could become a home for the home-less. Anyway interesting, but not enough to finish.
There's one moored on the amazon in brasil, people still live on it, very very remote too.
Amazing footage! Thank you from Seattle. I love your channel ❤
Interesting video. Thanks for posting!
I litarally live around the corner from the boat here in Kingston on the rondout. I remember the day the pulled it in
How long has it been there? I’m local too & surprised at how little info the tours share about it.
@@judydoyle1124shortly after 9/11. It wasn't there when they brought the subway car from the trade center to the trolley museum in 2002
@11:05 you'll see an old crane out the window. I fish on the other side of that.
Very cool to see this. Please update this site should you hear any new update regarding this barge/ship. Thanks
I'm suprised it's not trashed by vandalism yet
Its a little awkward to get to it, that's the only reason I can think of.
Grew up with this thing literally five minutes from my parents house…it’s still exactly where you found it. And they’re still down the road from it
No one seems to be squatting in there ? No dead animals or dead bodies… thank goodness for that
Oh cool. I’ve passed this boat docked in the Hudson and often wondered about the back story. Thanks for details
Nice one Chris! Longer version of Jay's condensed version.

Why don't they take it out of the water and restore it to a club for kids or a camp ...would be fantastic 😮❤😊
Abandoned ships are about the creepiest things on the planet.
Especially a pedo ship.
Ships in good shape
Looks fairly undiscovered!
I seem to remember this hospital vessel showing up on my main page on UA-cam a few months back and was told that It was being scrapped sadly.
when you said “will you just look at it”, you were releasing your inner edbassmaster. hahaha great video too! always love your videos dude. especially when you colab, because you get two different versions. 😀

It's nice to see an historical site not completely riddled with moronic graffiti. Nice tour of an interesting site.
The list angle doesn't change from one floor to the other. Angles are angles and degrees of list are continuous unless sinking.
Asbestos . Lead paint. Rat droppings bird and human poop. Heck yeah lets explore ! Lol. Thanks for taking us there so we don’t have to. Great video. I love this stuff.
I watched to the end! Exiting.

@@capnobvious2718 this may come back to them even 100 years later!
I didnt see any lead paint in there...all of that paint peeling was latex.

I've seen this boat on the Rondout Creek in Kingston, NY. From the view of the water I saw, it looks like it's still there. 👀
Was there a video about that abandoned yacht you talked about also?
Boat-house, boat-hospital, boat-hotel
I watched Jay's video before yours lol.....both were great.
That was really a crazy boat.. How far did you have to hike to get to it? Thanks for the video..
You're gonna be in for a surprise when you find out how NOT remote this location is.
Very interesting. Thanks ✌️
Very cool!😊
Wow never heard of it
Very cool!!
Nice!!
Loving this.
You didn't show the engine room
You pointed to the "engine" room on the map, but never showed it? ..The only mechanical thing you showed was an air handler but I wanted to at least see where the generator or engine once set.

I LIKE OLD BOATS LIKE THIS ONE 😢😢IT MAKES ME SICK AND SAD TO SEE IT LIKE THIS
Very interesting Chris
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing the tour.
I wonder if it can be used for emergency housing for homeless?
Why is all this abandoned?it should be pulled out and totaly restored.its crazy to waste such things.stupid to waste
is this ship in kingston ny on roundout creek
Would make one heck of a fishing spot.
That's a really neat place
Hey guys, at about 6 mins 40 secs, it says on info plate, 'public address system'.
Nice to see an abandoned place that isn't overwhelmed with graffiti.
Sure would be cool if someone could turn it into a river boat and run up and down the big rivers we have 😊
Nice galley!
SWEET !!!
I think that auditorium was really a large bathroom 🤔
8:03 Look how the writing changes after the 9/11 attack.
What happened to,the previous ships?
This ship is local to me. I’m going to have to check it out.
