I really, really love this video! Thank you so much for sharing your system. It has been the best video in seeing how to functional plan in a hobo. Thank you!
Extremely useful video! Thanks for actually thinking the system through and sharing all of these practical tips. I'm a GTD fan struggling with my current planning medium and this will help me a lot.
@@yearlonglife First I used to be a bullet journalist, but I discovered that mixing personal stuff and work plans made me use the book less in order not to have to deal with professional concerns in my downtime. Besides I found I spent too much energy worrying about layouts. So I've turned to pre-printed planners. I very much like the Hobonichi Weeks because of the abundant room for lists and collections in the back, and also because I tend to deal with tasks on a weekly basis (not much is day specific, but often stuff needs to get done on a certain week). But then something feels wrong when it comes to keeping an inbox; using the notes pages for that feels a bit awkward and removed from everything else in the book. So I was now going to try and use my Hobonichi A6 along with an extra booklet for lists. Your video was very helpful in setting down the main approach. I'm still not sure one A6 page per day is enough room, and I'm also wondering where to keep a weekly list. Any ideas? :)
@@fabiomrbarbosa Thanks so much for your insights. I think the main premise of GTD (and something I struggle with) is that personal and business life is just too difficult to separate. One thing that could work well would be to think of it as contexts. Maybe you have an office Hobo for everything that needs to be done in-office and one for home, for things you can complete at home and maybe one for errands or when you're out and about. I kind of kept my A5 as the master Hobo and then used a weeks for when I was away from home, but didn't separate home or business. I don't think I covered it very well in the video, but I'd take a look at the way contexts work in the GTD system. Re size: I think it really depends on how many items you're taking into your inbox each day and then how many next action items you have. I sort of blend both together, so a day free A6 is working well at the moment but I'm taking up 1-2 pages a day. If I were to use a planner, I'd probably go for the A5 just so I have more 'thinking' space. Hope this helps!
This was fabulous! I read and implemented GTD in 2018 using a ring planner. As of April, I am new to Hobonichi and I appreciate the layout and design you have shared! Searching your channel for more. New subscriber 🤗 Blessings❣️
So your inbox is mainly the daily page in this case, right? And then the appointments are in the monthly/weekly? That's an interesting way of doing it. I feel it might not work for me though because my brain is always looking at a daily page as a full spectrum of the day. In fact I forget things if I put them in the weekly/monthly. The way I do it is I schedule things in the monthly then break them weekly, plan daily and then review weekly then monthly... it's like a triangle for me. I start broad then minimize and then reverse and broaden my spectrum to review (if the makes sense). My only issue is that I read GTD a long time ago and then I shifted to the Agile system which I preferred more than GTD. To me GTD is mainly to tackle actions but Agile really changed my perspective on how to organize goals and how they correlate to tasks. Lately; however, I drifted from Agile and now I wanna brush up on GTD. What I'm trying so say basically is that all my systems are jumbled up. I need to do like you and experiment to see what works better. I definitely feel more at home in hobo compared to the Filofax although the Filo is more flexible but I noticed the more flexibility I have, the more I tend to complicate things. I want to simplify everything which is why I went back to hobo and just kept my to-dos simple. I still want to find a balance between using a system like GTD & Agile with the hobo but in a simplified manner.
MGE thanks so much for your comment! Yes I use the dailies as my inbox. I've never heard of the Agile system before - going to check it out now! You should absolutely use what works best for - perhaps that means a mix of two systems or creating one of your own 😉
Thank you! This is one of the rare real planning Videos far away from washi-tape and Tombows!
I love your daily page setup, especially the inbox!
Great system ! Stickers can make you lose focus on the important task but I get it ! It was fun though ❗ 😉
I really, really love this video! Thank you so much for sharing your system. It has been the best video in seeing how to functional plan in a hobo. Thank you!
Love your functional planner! Using GTD too. So great

You're very welcome! I've actually refined the process to make it simpler. What are you struggling wth the most?
