Have very vague memories of being taken to the Jenny Lind Hospital by my Mother sometime in the 1950`s. I think it was an outpatient appointment and believe I had an ear problem. I was able to witness the building of both the General Ward block and the Maternity Block as I lived then at Hanover Road, off Brunswick Road. Fascinating also to stand in the back garden and watch the steeplejacks building the enormous chimney. Any chance John, of a video on the `Golden Triangle`, an area I grew up in?
Thanks Timothy, also for your suggestion. This one is sort of "the edge" of the Golden Triangle - maybe one day I'll venture further in!ua-cam.com/video/LAiRyKgT3_k/v-deo.html
@@JohnAtkinsLostNorwich 😊 someone shared one of your videos on Reddit today and I'll be working my way through all you've made over the next few weeks. It's so interesting!
Hello! I actually live in the flats where the plaque is situated from the original hospital site! Ive lived here 25 years and im so glad to see this! Well done on the photos and research. Brilliant stuff! 😁
I was in the Jenny Lind hospital on Unthank Road twice. First time in 1953 to have adenoids removed and then again in 1955 aged 5 to have a tonsilectomy; so I remember it

I was born in the Jenny Lind hospital, April 1967
Hope the video told you a bit about what it was like!
Thanks for sharing all this fascinating history about our city, it's really amazing to see more about all the places I walk past regularly 😊

@@joethompson11 thank you, I hope you cope with hearing my voice for such a long period 🤣
Very well researched and explained. Fascinating content. Our favourite bit - your mum’s diary entry at the end! Very sweet and moving.
Thank you Bee Gees. Yes, it moves me to see those words.

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it 🙂
Gorgeous video - I was born in the Maternity block in 1980 at the N&N. My father cycled there from UEA.
Thank you for your kind comment 👍
Lovely to see, thank you.

I think it's very well remembered by those who spent time there.
Wonderful. Would love a video about the N&N towers and West Norwich hospital.
Thanks. I'll see what I can do. I've had quite a lot of requests so it may be a while. I'm not sure what you mean by N&N Towers...?

Thanks John.
A really interesting and insightful look into Jenny Lind and the city's lost hospitals.
Thank you John for your comment
Again very insightful! Fantastic content as always! Keep it up :)
I'd love to learn about At Andrews Asylum
Thank you. Actually that's the second request I've had about St Andrew's, so I'll add that to the list!
My grt grandfather was in the Jenny Lind hospital for nearly two years ,in the late 1880,s We are guessing he had TB .
Thanks for sharing that, Peter. All adds to the reality of the images.
Seems strange to see where he would have spent some of his early life.
@@petermcewan2551 indeed, it brings things home and makes them real.
Very interesting, I can't wait for the next lost subject?
Thank you Tim. Two weeks to wait!
