I remember seeing this movie back when I was in junior high school. It was a big hit and deservedly so. It really captures what growing up in the late 70's was like and has developed a cult following over the years.
Holy crap! I just had major flashbacks! I'm not a Rex Smith fan, but they film this and Yonkers New York, where I grew up. And while they were selling it, it was like a big deal for us. Yonkers, as bad as it is today, it was a real toilet back in the day. Yonkers is kind of like the armpit of America. But there were tons of teenyboppers around the entire filming of this movie trying to get a glimpse of him. I can't believe how much that city has changed. I had totally forgotten some of the things that they showed in these clips around Yonkers. Funny.
