The Bonny Braes of Elcho by Julian Goodacre- high G Cornish double pipes, Steve Turner- accordion, Andy Hornby- whistle, Pete Stewart- fiddle, Callum Armstrong- low G Cornish double pipes, John-Francis Goodacre- fiddle.
This slow air came into me head as I walked up Elcho Street Brae, an unmemorable road in Peebles that leads to my house. Four years later I bought a workshop there. The tune successfully failed to win the Lowland and Border Pipers Society pipe tune competition in 1992. The Goodacre Brothers recorded a three-part arrangement of it on their CD Bag Up Your Troubles. (WHCD02) The tune became a favourite of Matt Seattle's band the Boarder Directors who recorded it in 2014 on their CD Loup Till You Coup. (WORMO12). Matt and I also recorded his duet arrangement on my CD Some of Me Pipes.
Recorded on January 2nd 2020 at Wiston Lodge, Biggar, Lanarkshire, ML12 6HT. Scotland. This tune, along with 235 other of my tunes, is in my book SOME OF ME TUNES AND SOME OF ME FRIENDS TUNES.
