- In Feb 2024 Sandy McCracken and his team came to my workshop to make a short video documentary about my pipemaking. I was really happy with the video that they made, which was shown a few weeks later on the Border ITV ‘Border Life’ series.Incidentally, I keep hearing a rumour from other people that I have retired. This always comes as a surprise, because I seem to be the last person to know about it, so in the meantime I shall continue pipemaking!
Please note that I do not have any ownership of this video.
Absolutely cool! Thanks! 🎻✌️🙂😎
Very cool! You definitely deserve the recognition, here's to seeing that 1000th bagpipe made
Well done, Julian
Keep going strong to make the one thousand!
That's awesome Julian, I hope you've gotten some good recognition from this film :)
Nice to see you getting recognition! Xx
Great!
I've been playing Julian's pipes for many years. I simply won't play any others!!!
An extremely nice bloke and a great pipemaker
Have you uploaded a video of you playing your border pipes (which are modeled on the 18th-century set in the collection of the National Piping Centre Museum, Glasgow)?
I always say I will get a pipe before i die...I wasnt sure what pipe i would want? Till I saw Cornish bag pipe video, why i havent seen anyone playing it? At session ( Cornish session or any session)😢..I have to do more research and hear more sound..i need to make things happen.
I am the fighting-rooster-proud steward of a magnificent Leicestershire smallpipe with chanters in D and C. I am able to personally testify about the incredible stability and longevity of Julian's reeds. My D reed is in its fourteenth year, and my C reed is in its seventh. Neither has ever needed any adjustment at all. They just keep getting easier to play. As Ferris Bueller famously said, "It is SO choice!"
Excellent!
