I just wanted to say JJ from Asus reached out to me and shared a few additional things about the board I feel it’s important for you guys to know: 1)The X670E chipset uses 2 physical chips (both located under the m.2 heatsink stack) Having dual PCH chips is one of the main reasons why they had to move onboard audio off board to the Hive Strix. 2) Just because the VRM of this itx is physically smaller it does not mean you are limited in overclocking. They are using higher amp power stages, so even though there is fewer of them, it doesn’t mean you are limited in some way. I believe JJ said this board uses 105A power stages Vs say a 70A found in some other atx full sized board.

You really have to double check cooler compatibility with so much vertical stacking on the mainboard. With Asus boards in general, I bought a Z370-I mini-ITX second-hand, and 5 years after release they published a BIOS update to enable ReBAR. This was an unexpected and awesome pro-consumer move to make the hardware live longer. I can recommend Asus boards.
One of the most common complaints about this board on reddit and in various customer reviews is the built in fans. Specifically the noise they make. No-where online have I been able to find a sound or video clip of this though. I'm thinking about upgrading, but I'd really like to know how bad that noise is first..
They mainly make noise on boot up. They spin full speed for a few seconds. There are 2 chipset fans, one seems to be louder than the other. Using a piece of software called “Fan Control”, you can actually control the fan speed of the noisier fan and set custom fan curves. However, this will only help you once you’re in windows. They will still spin full speed on boot.
This small fan is super noisy. It's so loud (during general use) that I'm considering returning this board as it is by far the loudest piece of my setup.

I can confirm that USB 4 (TB4) can support multiple displays on a single port, via a TB4 hub and is a function of the CPU (iGPU) max supported display capabilities. e.g. i7-1165g7. This would be DP-alt mode over USB C, and run in 2 lane or 4 lane mode, depending on the resolution, version of DP and if DSC is possible. This is also true for the USB C to DP or HDMI cables/dongles, if the display does not natively support USB C. So those USB 4 ports are basically where you would connect a USB C, DP or HDMI display, if you do not have a dGPU. :) All within the capabilities of the CPU (iGPU) max supported displays. You could also connect eGPU on each USB 4 port, which would technically run as TB3, providing PCI-e x4 to the eGPU and the max quantity of displays the given eGPU can support.

@Micah Yes, really. But I will wait until they drop the price. If they don't then I won't buy. My current AM4 setup's 5800X3D and 5600X are doing the job, and my Sapphire Toxic has been fixed and is on its way back to me. So I will continue to pay bills and save up for the next line of gpu's.
This board is awfully tempting. Something sure is offputting about the BIOS flashback button on the hive just being on top there. Like... if I want to use that thing or the volume knob, I'm not exactly pleased with that big button being there. Wouldn't care much if I just hid it off in a corner and attached things to it though.
The manual for this motherboard in US English is missing from the website, and the included physical manual is missing details. One M.2 is gen5 and the other is gen4 but it it not clearly stated which is which on this stacked M.2 storage area.
That’s odd. The manual was available on the website when I was doing research for the video but I just checked and I see there are no manuals listed now.

Great video, dude. Appreciate the hard work put in for it. If possible, could you tell us what Network Interface the 2.5gbps port in the back uses? Is it Realtek or Intel based?
I don't see the need to support 2 M2. If droped to 1, maybe that could have freed up space. I would much rather have the internal USB and a standard mic/headphone jack for my tiny mobile gaming rig. That riser card will not fit and I don't want to carry around a 2nd a second device for my audio.
Man, small fans...? Yikes. That's just recipe for disaster, aka. noise. Which is just not acceptable at this pricepoint and being a freaking MB. They should have just put more/better heatsink there. Not to mention the external audio. I would just fork out extra for asus Crosshair matx board. Or get regular atx that costs less.
i was waiting for a mini itx x670E from asus since the ryzen 7000 x3d was announced and i can tell im not impressed... i dont like the way the nvme drives are placed, the requirement of 2 boards seems too much. guessing that this is the end of d-tx form factor and no impact was planned from asus side and this mother is the final nail on the coffin...
Great review. As a SFF fan I'm not sure if I'm skipping this gen or what. Seems like mini-ITX has fallen out of favor over the years with the increase in cooling needs.

13700k is running cool in my nr200 280 AIO...just please don't buy Asus MB's, the last one I had was overpriced and had nonstop posting issues even with the newest bios...barely could post with XMP or any OC settings. Very happy with MSI so far...it actually works with no issues
This board cost almost 700$ where im from, feels kind of not worth it. Im not worried about the D15 but the smaller coolers, this was and problem on Intels Z690 mini ITX even for AIOs since they had to build more height around the I/O and stack M.2 ports.
For what it’s worth I think the price is too high, and it’s been reported recently by Moores law is dead, that AMD are starting to crack down on board partners about the price of some of these boards.
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies Yeah Intel is a bit better but not by much, my friend was looking on the Z690 version of this motherboard and i told him to go B660 wich, overclocking isn't worth it in most cases today so it's better putting it in to a gpu really.
If you own still have this next month, would love to see what it does with the AMD 79503DX CPU, paired with the 3090ti, b/c if it's is all good, it will be my next build. I already own the 3090ti from my current build. Just thinking about if there is a motherboard water block from EK, so I can then jam it all back into my o11 mini dual 360 radiator build ... then in the future they'll need to come out with a version of the 3D CPU that has video. But I think right now everyone is waiting on the AMD 79503DX CPU & its reviews. Has EK sent out any of their blocks for the Nvidia 4000 series GPUs? Or announced any mono-blocks for any of the ITX AMD 7000 motherboards?
Or I might be going with the EK-Quantum MSI MPG X670E CARBON EK X D-RGB ... I think the AMD 3Dx CPUs will cause more of a surge in sales then anything else released to date.

Nice and detailed review. I was planning to make a mini itx build and this was on my options list. Im currently using the X670e Hero but it just takes too much space in my desk and i just wanted to know if the lower powerstages really affect the cpu performance (Using the 7900X). The hero has 18+2 power stages while this one has 10+2. Also which case would you recommend for that build with a gigabyte 3090 vision?
First off, both boards power delivery are beyond overkill, and you shouldn’t have to even consider which is better, because both boards you mentioned vrm’s are about 4x more powerful than 99.9% of users will ever need. The only person who may stop and consider the differences in the VRMs of these 2 boards is someone who actually does LN2 overclocking. Secondly, just because there are less power phases in the itx board doesn’t make it worse or less powerful. Because of the limited space, the itx board is forced to use higher quality, higher amperage power stages, and just fewer of them. When I asked JJ over at Asus about this directly, he said the itx board is just as capable of overclocking as any of their other boards, if just does it in a more compact footprint (also adding to cost). So to directly answer your question, no, you will notice zero difference on your 7900x. As far as an itx case goes, I really like the meshlicious and Meshroom s cases, as they fit big gpus and have a small footprint. The Meshroom s does fit slightly bigger gpus than the Meshlicious.
Great video excellent board had some SATA issues on some smaller cases N200 and Hyte which didn't leave room for the SATA cables. Resolved it with Lian Li O11 Dynamic case.
Thank goodness for your video. I was looking for all this info. I was trying to figure out if I could fit the InnoDisk EGPL-T101 10GB/s M.2 Card on this ITX MB. Then I figured out that the second M.2 was on the ground floor of that stack and not on the back (still don't know which floor has the PCIe 5.0 connection after reading the manual. I assume the top one). The issue with the InnoDisk EGPL-T101 is that it has components on the PCB which are not standard-sized for SSDs. I figured I could remove the heat-sink and use the MB's instead, but if I want to fit it on the ground floor, I'll also have to cut out some of the double-sided tape to fit the card, but I'll also need to bend the card a bit towards its extremity by removing the foam beneath so that the component square will be able to make a flush contact with the covering heat-sink. Would you say that's possible? Are these SSD flexible in the least?

Do you need to always have that Hive thing connected? Or if you're just using Bluetooth speakers can you leave that unplugged and then just plug it in whenever you might need it for something?
Yeah! Good point. I was just looking around for a bulky cooler, and this is all I had at the time. I can confirm the Noctua NH-L12S also fits in this board and takes advantage of that little rubbery bit on the VRM heatsink I was talking about with its heatsinks. The channel was (and still is) pretty new in terms of actual numbers of videos I’ve made and put out, so as I go forward I will be trying to use my brain a bit more and talk about configurations that actually make sense lol. Great video! Question, can you please measure the height of that added bottom backplate (near the IO side, to the right of the CPU backplate)? I'd assume it's used for structural support and maybe some cooling, but what is the height? Wondering if it's too tall for my case which uses short standoffs.
I think the lower resistance parts heat up fast but, sure why not let there be parts where high resistance parts heat up first... :D im not an electrician or anything but i think connecter burns are caused primery by not exactly touching wires as electric arcs tend to heat up fast... You can try the high resistance low resistance heating up by connecting 4 seperate different ohm resistors continuously and feel the heat on them...
I did some checking, and I may have used the wrong terminology but what I’m trying to say still comes across in the video. To say it a different way - “Resistance is caused by degraded conductivity (they are reciprocal properties) caused by conducting electronics not flowing perfectly freely in the conductor. They periodically collide with the fixed atoms of the material and give up some of their energy to them, which manifests itself as increased thermal vibration - aka HEAT.”

While I get that they needed space for cooling the VRMs, I really wish they had at least kept the BIOS flashback button and clear CMOS stuff on the main board itself. If you are using an itx board, you probably are using an itx case. ITX cases can be crazy tiny and cramped. Especially on a platform with a chipset that is literally aimed gamers, overclockers, and power users AND on a generation with a brand new memory profiling system, you shouldn't keep things as important as BIOS flashback and clear CMOS on things/in places where they could be easily lost/hidden and potentially require a thorough disassembly, which for ITX SFF cases, you really don't want make someone do. Cable clutter can be everywhere in a tiny case like the Formd T1 or the Fractal Terra or Ridge, even with a modular power supply, air cooling, and the best cable management possible. It will be a pain to deal with especially if you need to deal with a critical BIOS update or firmware. Ignoring the overheating, memory issues, and such that Ryzen has been facing, if a security vulnerability were to occur that required an updated bios, you really be asking ITX consumers to be doing much more work than someone with even an mATX user would need to do. Honestly, I would be tempted to just go for a full ATX mobo since this board is still literally the only X670E ITX board. (WTFface.png) Do I have to remind everyone that it's 2024?! How can there still be only 1 MOBO!?!? AMD BETTER release new chips soon so we can (hopefully) get some new ITX boards before black friday. I am tired of this insanity. I am honestly considering going to Intel or using a bigger board just because of this insanity. Do ITX users not exist in the high-end market?! Considering the stuff some people put into their PCs, I really think entire mobo industry needs to fire their entire marketing staff and start over. How does someone not notice the insane prices people are willing to pay for an itx pc case?!
I hear ya. While I can't directly do anything to change the state of the mobo market, I can offer some of my experience. 1) One cool little trick for accessing clear CMOS pins in an ITX case is to get a power button off amazon (amzn.to/3UEQxAC) and then slide that over the clear CMOS pins and put the button somewhere more accessible. 2) AFAIK, the reason why there is only 1 X670e ITX board in existence (and why it's horrendously expensive) is because X670e uses TWO chipsets, where as most motherboards (z690, x570, ect) use only 1. Figuring out the engineering to fit both chipsets electrically on the board as well as solve cooling for both, is where a lot of the compromises of this board come from. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure who needs X670e for ITX as you only get 1 PCIe slot on an ITX board, so just get the ROG STRIX B650E-I and save some money. Really all you're getting in the X670e chipset vs the B650e chipset on this board is 2x USB 4.0 ports. So if you don't need those specifically, just get the B650e-i.
Are you having loud fan noise from the chipset heatsinks? People are reporting crazy noise from them even at idle with no way to control the fan curve.
Thinking about using this one for a small form factor build with a 7950x. Watercooled, custom loop, external radiator. I'll use a XPROTO by XTIA so it'll be kind of an open setup anyway. Do you know if the 2 fans in the VRM & SSD - Heatsink are temp-controlled? Are they semi-passive? How loud? I'm aiming for a reeeally silent build, MO-RA3 420, the works. If they have an annoying pitch, can't be turned off or result in error codes / the system not posting if unplugged... That'd be a no-go. Thank you a lot for this review already.

I bought a asus rog x670e-i itx board last year second hand from a reputable seller on ebay but due to busy schedule and lack of funds at the time never got round to building my pc. Now I've put together the pc ,minus the cpu (7800x3d is on the way). I read you can boot into bios i tried turn the pc on nothing happens not even fan spin😢 no lights on motherboard. There seems to be power going to usb's though. I've tried connecting my power button pins just incase it was the case botton.Tried using my spare psu samething happens. Will it work when i put the cpu in or is the board dead? 😢

A question: Is the HIVE necessary for audio? The headphones I'm about to buy also has a dongle, with similar features, and I'm worried the desk will become too cluttered with both. Thanks again for the content. \o/
The hive is the equivalent of onboard audio, just external. If your headphones have a built in sound card that connect via usb, then no, I don’t think you need the hive. However if your headphones don’t have a sound card built in, and just have desk controls, then yes, you would need both.
And yet, despite moving the audio solution out of the board itself, or so Asus claimed upon release, the multi-speaker setup is no longer supported on the smaller boards, yet using same running gear it is on the larger boards... and it's not like they run out of space on either rear-panel or the hub... so yeah, hooray for 7.1 audio support, nay for actual output of anything more than stereo through analog media... And that follows the tendency of smaller mobo manufacturers to go the route of repurposing available minijacks on rear and front panel to deliver 4.0+ outs using a combination of rear (that's great) and front panel ports (this is horrible).
A high level summary of the main difference is overclocking performance and PCIe lanes. Tuf vs strix: The Strix and higher tier boards have built in 1 click overclocking and "Ai" overclocking features that are very handy for getting more performance from your hardware without manually tuning anything. More performance from your CPU at the click of a button in bios is the value add here. As far as b650 vs x670e chipsets, you'd have to lookup a comparison chart online, but x670e must have pcie 5.0, where as b650 does not, as well as more high speed connectivity is available in x670e. on x670e, you'll usually find more USB ports, faster connectivity and more of it. (More PCIe 4.0 lanes, ect.) Hopefully this helps.

Another issue I ran into using this board with the Lian Li A4 H20 case is that the sata connectors don't have enough clearance and the connectors block the installation of the itx PSU.
@@t6pix Thanks for sharing, I was using the included cables and the 90 degree bend cable didn't fit. Were you using the same model Lian Li Dan A$ H2O case?
@@moremetafeta im using nr200 max which has psu right next to the sata ports. Regular sata cables with straight or 90 degree angle wouldnt fit. But thermaltake cables fit which cable exits the side of the fitting
And I think that's why the B chipsets exist. In my opinion, If you're not going to be aggressively overclocking and using at least 80% of the bells and whistles of this board, then I do think it makes more sense to buy a board that only has the features you need. Also consider trying to build a small board that keeps up with some full-sized ATX boards requires more expensive components, for example a 110A power stage vs 80A power stage because there isn't as much room for more phases, as well as ITX boards can take close to 2x as long for the electrical engineering and design phase of development to get it all packed in there.
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies B650E-I looks similar do you think there are any cons about B650E-I? I don't think I'll be overclocking since there seems to be not enough head room for 7700X. Looking forward to your ITX build I have an open air case called Xproto-L.
On AMD, you can still overclock with the B series chipset, so don't feel like you can't overclock at all. I think the x670e-i board does have a higher quality VRM however. (110A power stages on X670E-I vs 70A power stages on B650E-I.) I'm hoping in the future as I grow my channel I will have better access to these more technical points so I can give more concrete answers instead of replying with "I think" lol. You might also look into the b650e-i version of this board. Its cheaper, and I don't know that youll notice any difference at all for your application!
That is a good question, being hands on with both (although not at the same time) I would say it would work, however I’m not sure if you could use the FPS 2 card because I don’t think there would be clearance but this is all guesswork lol. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Make sure the Hive is turned on in the bios. (I think its off by default) It was called Hydranode, idk if they have changed this to hive strix in later bios releases.
Is anyone having issues with audio not working on the hive? Realtek refuses to install and nothing for hive shows up in the sound settings. ASUS Reddit, rog forum, and ASUS support are all useless.
The "onboard" audio hardware has been moved off-board into the "strix hive". (Strix hive is a triangular shaped object with a dial on it with some buttons and ports). The strix hive has a dedicated USB type C port it needs to be plugged into in the motherboards I/O. You should also make sure the hive is enabled in BIOS. Hope this can be of some help or point you in some helpful direction.
I finally integrated a sff pc with this motherboard, at first power-up I experienced not just loud and high pitched, but a rough and rattly fan noise from the fan for the M2 ssd slots. Unfortunately I am going to have to shop for something else. I saw a lot of people complaining about the fan noise on this motherboard in a sff forum.
I literally just got my itx system together last night. It does scream when it first powers on. I haven’t heard it really after that, however the space I’m in isn’t very quiet so more noise sensitive ppl may still be able to hear the fan under certain conditions. I did notice too only 1 of the heatsink fans are speed adjustable in bios.
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies I removed all the M2 brackets and heatsinks and powered the unit up again. The rattling noise is definitely coming from the fan itself. I can press my finger gently on the fan itself and the rattle goes away. Looks like a QC issue
Unless you live in Canada and need warranty, then you’re screwed lol. Gigabyte is awful for customer support, especially in Canada, we don’t even have a support line we can call.
Something to note: the board has something going on with it's VRM fans and the noise they make. _That,_ combined with _you not being able to tune the fans,_ might be a dealbreaker for you..
I haven’t experienced that myself, however I would check to make sure strix hive is turned on in bios, there is a setting for it. Other than that, you could reach out to Asus support.

@Micah Yes, really. But I will wait until they drop the price. If they don't then I won't buy. My current AM4 setup's 5800X3D and 5600X are doing the job, and my Sapphire Toxic has been fixed and is on its way back to me. So I will continue to pay bills and save up for the next line of gpu's.

This board is awfully tempting. Something sure is offputting about the BIOS flashback button on the hive just being on top there. Like... if I want to use that thing or the volume knob, I'm not exactly pleased with that big button being there. Wouldn't care much if I just hid it off in a corner and attached things to it though.

The manual for this motherboard in US English is missing from the website, and the included physical manual is missing details. One M.2 is gen5 and the other is gen4 but it it not clearly stated which is which on this stacked M.2 storage area.
That’s odd. The manual was available on the website when I was doing research for the video but I just checked and I see there are no manuals listed now.

Nice review i just bot the b650 version because the extra features werent worth it dor my use case but indeed a solid mono for enthousiasts.
I don't see the need to support 2 M2. If droped to 1, maybe that could have freed up space. I would much rather have the internal USB and a standard mic/headphone jack for my tiny mobile gaming rig. That riser card will not fit and I don't want to carry around a 2nd a second device for my audio.
Man, small fans...? Yikes. That's just recipe for disaster, aka. noise. Which is just not acceptable at this pricepoint and being a freaking MB.

13700k is running cool in my nr200 280 AIO...just please don't buy Asus MB's, the last one I had was overpriced and had nonstop posting issues even with the newest bios...barely could post with XMP or any OC settings. Very happy with MSI so far...it actually works with no issues

This board cost almost 700$ where im from, feels kind of not worth it.
Im not worried about the D15 but the smaller coolers, this was and problem on Intels Z690 mini ITX even for AIOs since they had to build more height around the I/O and stack M.2 ports.
For what it’s worth I think the price is too high, and it’s been reported recently by Moores law is dead, that AMD are starting to crack down on board partners about the price of some of these boards.
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies Yeah Intel is a bit better but not by much, my friend was looking on the Z690 version of this motherboard and i told him to go B660 wich, overclocking isn't worth it in most cases today so it's better putting it in to a gpu really.

If you own still have this next month, would love to see what it does with the AMD 79503DX CPU, paired with the 3090ti, b/c if it's is all good, it will be my next build. I already own the 3090ti from my current build. Just thinking about if there is a motherboard water block from EK, so I can then jam it all back into my o11 mini dual 360 radiator build ... then in the future they'll need to come out with a version of the 3D CPU that has video. But I think right now everyone is waiting on the AMD 79503DX CPU & its reviews. Has EK sent out any of their blocks for the Nvidia 4000 series GPUs? Or announced any mono-blocks for any of the ITX AMD 7000 motherboards?
Or I might be going with the EK-Quantum MSI MPG X670E CARBON EK X D-RGB ... I think the AMD 3Dx CPUs will cause more of a surge in sales then anything else released to date.

Nice and detailed review. I was planning to make a mini itx build and this was on my options list. Im currently using the X670e Hero but it just takes too much space in my desk and i just wanted to know if the lower powerstages really affect the cpu performance (Using the 7900X). The hero has 18+2 power stages while this one has 10+2. Also which case would you recommend for that build with a gigabyte 3090 vision?
First off, both boards power delivery are beyond overkill, and you shouldn’t have to even consider which is better, because both boards you mentioned vrm’s are about 4x more powerful than 99.9% of users will ever need. The only person who may stop and consider the differences in the VRMs of these 2 boards is someone who actually does LN2 overclocking.
Secondly, just because there are less power phases in the itx board doesn’t make it worse or less powerful. Because of the limited space, the itx board is forced to use higher quality, higher amperage power stages, and just fewer of them. When I asked JJ over at Asus about this directly, he said the itx board is just as capable of overclocking as any of their other boards, if just does it in a more compact footprint (also adding to cost).
So to directly answer your question, no, you will notice zero difference on your 7900x.
As far as an itx case goes, I really like the meshlicious and Meshroom s cases, as they fit big gpus and have a small footprint. The Meshroom s does fit slightly bigger gpus than the Meshlicious.

Great video excellent board had some SATA issues on some smaller cases N200 and Hyte which didn't leave room for the SATA cables. Resolved it with Lian Li O11 Dynamic case.
Just order thermaltake slim sata cables for itx cases. Perfect for small fitment

I was trying to figure out if I could fit the InnoDisk EGPL-T101 10GB/s M.2 Card on this ITX MB.
Then I figured out that the second M.2 was on the ground floor of that stack and not on the back (still don't know which floor has the PCIe 5.0 connection after reading the manual. I assume the top one).
The issue with the InnoDisk EGPL-T101 is that it has components on the PCB which are not standard-sized for SSDs. I figured I could remove the heat-sink and use the MB's instead, but if I want to fit it on the ground floor, I'll also have to cut out some of the double-sided tape to fit the card, but I'll also need to bend the card a bit towards its extremity by removing the foam beneath so that the component square will be able to make a flush contact with the covering heat-sink.
Would you say that's possible? Are these SSD flexible in the least?

You should be able to use bluetooth speakers without the hive. I have ran this motherboard with a wireless usb headset without the hive connected.

why would you use Noctua D15 on the mobo? That's an ITX board isnt it? Try using some different low profile heatsinks because that makes more sense 🤔
Yeah! Good point. I was just looking around for a bulky cooler, and this is all I had at the time. I can confirm the Noctua NH-L12S also fits in this board and takes advantage of that little rubbery bit on the VRM heatsink I was talking about with its heatsinks. The channel was (and still is) pretty new in terms of actual numbers of videos I’ve made and put out, so as I go forward I will be trying to use my brain a bit more and talk about configurations that actually make sense lol. Great video! Question, can you please measure the height of that added bottom backplate (near the IO side, to the right of the CPU backplate)? I'd assume it's used for structural support and maybe some cooling, but what is the height? Wondering if it's too tall for my case which uses short standoffs.

I think the lower resistance parts heat up fast but, sure why not let there be parts where high resistance parts heat up first... :D im not an electrician or anything but i think connecter burns are caused primery by not exactly touching wires as electric arcs tend to heat up fast...
You can try the high resistance low resistance heating up by connecting 4 seperate different ohm resistors continuously and feel the heat on them...
I did some checking, and I may have used the wrong terminology but what I’m trying to say still comes across in the video. To say it a different way -
“Resistance is caused by degraded conductivity (they are reciprocal properties) caused by conducting electronics not flowing perfectly freely in the conductor. While I get that they needed space for cooling the VRMs, I really wish they had at least kept the BIOS flashback button and clear CMOS stuff on the main board itself. If you are using an itx board, you probably are using an itx case. ITX cases can be crazy tiny and cramped. Especially on a platform with a chipset that is literally aimed gamers, overclockers, and power users AND on a generation with a brand new memory profiling system, you shouldn't keep things as important as BIOS flashback and clear CMOS on things/in places where they could be easily lost/hidden and potentially require a thorough disassembly, which for ITX SFF cases, you really don't want make someone do. Cable clutter can be everywhere in a tiny case like the Formd T1 or the Fractal Terra or Ridge, even with a modular power supply, air cooling, and the best cable management possible. It will be a pain to deal with especially if you need to deal with a critical BIOS update or firmware. Ignoring the overheating, memory issues, and such that Ryzen has been facing, if a security vulnerability were to occur that required an updated bios, you really be asking ITX consumers to be doing much more work than someone with even an mATX user would need to do.
Honestly, I would be tempted to just go for a full ATX mobo since this board is still literally the only X670E ITX board.

I hear ya. While I can't directly do anything to change the state of the mobo market, I can offer some of my experience.
1) One cool little trick for accessing clear CMOS pins in an ITX case is to get a power button off amazon (amzn.to/3UEQxAC) and then slide that over the clear CMOS pins and put the button somewhere more accessible.
2) AFAIK, the reason why there is only 1 X670e ITX board in existence (and why it's horrendously expensive) is because X670e uses TWO chipsets, where as most motherboards (z690, x570, ect) use only 1. Figuring out the engineering to fit both chipsets electrically on the board as well as solve cooling for both, is where a lot of the compromises of this board come from. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure who needs X670e for ITX as you only get 1 PCIe slot on an ITX board, so just get the ROG STRIX B650E-I and save some money. Really all you're getting in the X670e chipset vs the B650e chipset on this board is 2x USB 4.0 ports. So if you don't need those specifically, just get the B650e-i.
Are you having loud fan noise from the chipset heatsinks? People are reporting crazy noise from them even at idle with no way to control the fan curve.

This board's fans are extremely loud. Also don't even bother occupying the PCIe Gen5 port because it causes the chipset to overheat.
I bought a asus rog x670e-i itx board last year second hand from a reputable seller on ebay but due to busy schedule and lack of funds at the time never got round to building my pc. Now I've put together the pc ,minus the cpu (7800x3d is on the way). I read you can boot into bios i tried turn the pc on nothing happens not even fan spin😢 no lights on motherboard. There seems to be power going to usb's though. I've tried connecting my power button pins just incase it was the case botton.Tried using my spare psu samething happens. Will it work when i put the cpu in or is the board dead? 😢
Your power button won't work without a CPU installed.

It should help to some degree, help pull heat out of the connector and sink it into the extremely thick PCB which acts as a sudo heatsink.

The hive is the equivalent of onboard audio, just external. If your headphones have a built in sound card that connect via usb, then no, I don’t think you need the hive. However if your headphones don’t have a sound card built in, and just have desk controls, then yes, you would need both.

And yet, despite moving the audio solution out of the board itself, or so Asus claimed upon release, the multi-speaker setup is no longer supported on the smaller boards, yet using same running gear it is on the larger boards... and it's not like they run out of space on either rear-panel or the hub... so yeah, hooray for 7.1 audio support, nay for actual output of anything more than stereo through analog media... And that follows the tendency of smaller mobo manufacturers to go the route of repurposing available minijacks on rear and front panel to deliver 4.0+ outs using a combination of rear (that's great) and front panel ports (this is horrible).
Whats the benefits of this over the Asus Tuf B650?
A high level summary of the main difference is overclocking performance and PCIe lanes. Tuf vs strix: The Strix and higher tier boards have built in 1 click overclocking and "Ai" overclocking features that are very handy for getting more performance from your hardware without manually tuning anything. More performance from your CPU at the click of a button in bios is the value add here.
As far as b650 vs x670e chipsets, you'd have to lookup a comparison chart online, but x670e must have pcie 5.0, where as b650 does not, as well as more high speed connectivity is available in x670e. on x670e, you'll usually find more USB ports, faster connectivity and more of it. (More PCIe 4.0 lanes, ect.) Hopefully this helps.

Another issue I ran into using this board with the Lian Li A4 H20 case is that the sata connectors don't have enough clearance and the connectors block the installation of the itx PSU.
Thermaltaken has slim sata cables which fits perfectly

@@moremetafeta im using nr200 max which has psu right next to the sata ports. Regular sata cables with straight or 90 degree angle wouldnt fit. But thermaltake cables fit which cable exits the side of the fitting

And I think that's why the B chipsets exist. In my opinion, If you're not going to be aggressively overclocking and using at least 80% of the bells and whistles of this board, then I do think it makes more sense to buy a board that only has the features you need. Also consider trying to build a small board that keeps up with some full-sized ATX boards requires more expensive components, for example a 110A power stage vs 80A power stage because there isn't as much room for more phases, as well as ITX boards can take close to 2x as long for the electrical engineering and design phase of development to get it all packed in there.

On AMD, you can still overclock with the B series chipset, so don't feel like you can't overclock at all. I think the x670e-i board does have a higher quality VRM however. (110A power stages on X670E-I vs 70A power stages on B650E-I.) I'm hoping in the future as I grow my channel I will have better access to these more technical points so I can give more concrete answers instead of replying with "I think" lol.

This board is a nope in so many areas. Tiny little fans embedded in the IO shield and heat sync. A gimmicky audio interface. And that price!!!

That is a good question, being hands on with both (although not at the same time) I would say it would work, however I’m not sure if you could use the FPS 2 card because I don’t think there would be clearance but this is all guesswork lol. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Make sure the Hive is turned on in the bios. (I think its off by default) It was called Hydranode, idk if they have changed this to hive strix in later bios releases.

Is anyone having issues with audio not working on the hive? Realtek refuses to install and nothing for hive shows up in the sound settings. ASUS Reddit, rog forum, and ASUS support are all useless.
The "onboard" audio hardware has been moved off-board into the "strix hive". (Strix hive is a triangular shaped object with a dial on it with some buttons and ports). The strix hive has a dedicated USB type C port it needs to be plugged into in the motherboards I/O. You should also make sure the hive is enabled in BIOS. Hope this can be of some help or point you in some helpful direction.
Bought this board and hated it. It's too loud, takes too long to boot, and you can't occupy both slots without the chipset overheating.

Are the fans loud after you boot into OS or only during post?
I finally integrated a sff pc with this motherboard, at first power-up I experienced not just loud and high pitched, but a rough and rattly fan noise from the fan for the M2 ssd slots. Unfortunately I am going to have to shop for something else. I saw a lot of people complaining about the fan noise on this motherboard in a sff forum.
I literally just got my itx system together last night. It does scream when it first powers on. I haven’t heard it really after that, however the space I’m in isn’t very quiet so more noise sensitive ppl may still be able to hear the fan under certain conditions. I did notice too only 1 of the heatsink fans are speed adjustable in bios.
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies I removed all the M2 brackets and heatsinks and powered the unit up again. The rattling noise is definitely coming from the fan itself. I can press my finger gently on the fan itself and the rattle goes away. Looks like a QC issue

Something to note: the board has something going on with it's VRM fans and the noise they make. _That,_ combined with _you not being able to tune the fans,_ might be a dealbreaker for you..
You can't tune the fans? Others have said they've tuned theirs down in the BIOS.
