    you could also get better transfer thermal pads for the vrams and vrms and improve that hotspot temp by a few degrees ... but i think a bit more aggresive fan curve would keep it cool enough, as you where runing furmark, and fans where basically almost relaxed in 30-40% ...

    These temperatures drop are absolutley shocking! I really think PC owners should vaccum dust their environment at least 2 times per week. I have an RTX 4090 and it went around 74-78 Celsius in full load while in games like Alan Wake II but I am talking about this summer when the average in the house was 34-36. So I think good cooling is a combination of a well designed shroud, good thermal paste or pads and thick heatsink. A good proper air collled case with lots of fans also works but as I said, don't forget to vacuum dust two times per week. Especially in big cities with plenty of construction yards nearby.

    I have just used this board in a new build and I am having issues shutting it down. Every time I shut down, it restarts itself and goes into bios. This is the second board from a different seller I am having this issue with. I returned the first one to the seller because I believed that I was sold a faulty board. But I am still having the same issue with the new board from a new seller. Any thing I need to tweak to stop it restarting? I should add that this is my first time building on a Gigabyte board. That's the server SKU? It's designed to be ran with server style thermals - front to back with a large volume of air being moved.. That's probably why it's still running a bit hot.

      Help me understand what SKU is.

    • @ultraprecisiontechnologies
      @ultraprecisiontechnologies 2 місяці тому

      a SKU number is a number associated with a specific model or item. Technically it doesn't apply here as A4000 is the GPU model and not the SKU number. The terminology "SKU", "model", and "part" are sometimes used interchangeably. (Example, "That's the server SKU?" is basically saying 'That's the server model?') Hope that helps clarify how SKU is thrown around in the PC world. Also, SKU stands for “stock keeping unit”. Typically 8 characters long. For what it's worth, I found on PNY's website (a manufacturer of the A4000) that their SKU # is: VCNRTXA4000-PB for this GPU.

    • @ultraprecisiontechnologies

      The fans are cooling a 360mm radiator that’s cooling the CPU. (All in one liquid cooler). There’s is a cutout in the case to allow air to flow through the fans, through the radiator they are mounted to and out the back of the case. That’s what the white tubes are that run from the CPU to above the fans, it’s part of the CPU cooler that uses liquid. Thx for the question!

      Cpu is an Intel 12100f, and it’s just using the stock Intel cooler. You might imagine why the stock Intel cooler wouldn’t be compatible with an AMD chip, they use different mounting hardware.

    • @ultraprecisiontechnologies
      @ultraprecisiontechnologies 2 місяці тому

      Yeah! Good point. I was just looking around for a bulky cooler, and this is all I had at the time. I can confirm the Noctua NH-L12S also fits in this board and takes advantage of that little rubbery bit on the VRM heatsink I was talking about with its heatsinks. The channel was (and still is) pretty new in terms of actual numbers of videos I’ve made and put out, so as I go forward I will be trying to use my brain a bit more and talk about configurations that actually make sense lol. Thx for the comment.

  • @coolcat23

    With the card you have, it probably won't matter, but I wouldn't plug and unplug the power cable more often than necessary. The contacts are only rated for a limited amount of plug in events. Also one should check the temperature of a self-made plug after a while of intensive use to see whether there is any unnecessary resistance due to a suboptimal crimp. Again, this does not matter for graphics cards that aren't very power hungry, but cards like the 4090 may draw a lot of amps over their 12 pin connectors.

    I did this to my 6900 formula oc z yesterday, 30 degree drop after doing so.(binned xtxh chip, bigger cooler) The paste from factory was NOT a good job. The right side didn't have much paste, seems all AMD GPU's silicon are minorly warped on top, so don't do a super thin layer of paste as you would a CPU, do a slightly thicker layer(think preapplied paste thickness).
