Oh man! The title caught my attention right away. I totally agree with you about druids. They don't care about healing the tank because when it dies they'll just do what comes naturally and start kiting those clops around. When I was on Agnarr, I made the mistake of rolling a druid. I remember the last night I was on the server I could only get a group with other druids. It turned out to be a 5 druid group. Nobody wanted druids. Shamans heal, slow, and buff better. Clerics CH and rez. Wizards port to the planes and bring big fast DPS. Druids have these dots that are sooooo slow and like you saw with their nukes, they're come kill me now invitations!
If you can convince your friends to level a route that always has charmable animals, Druids can be an alternative enchanter. But then you are stuck with a useless lv60 class whose best description is "warm body". It's powerlevelling for Krono or nothing at that point - or wait 8+ expansions. I would say Druids are the perfect box for someone who wants to eventually only play 1 character.
I got Druid to 42 on Thornblade and switched to Bard main. I'm at 54 Bard now and I just kick myself and think how id be 60 by now if i had started anything other than Druid. I guess I can port guildies to raids and what not...
Funny enough, I started a Druid and "mained" it for the first time on Mischief and have a mixed take on them. They are good at a lot of stuff, but not great at anything. I call them the "Master of Nothing". Personally my play style is different on the Druid though - I pull, charm, heal, DPS, CC with root, and I've found myself getting invites a ton. I think they are word of mouth honestly, because there were Druids I was around at lower levels still stuck in their 40's and 50's while I've been 60 and epic'd for a while now and I don't have a ton of playtime.
@@Waggabagaboo i want to play a warrior/healer and eventually only play warrior, but be able to 2box if i can’t find a group. I’ve played shaman so many times than I don’t want to play another shaman. So it’s either cleric or druid. CH and rez and cleric buffs…. Or SoW and ports and druid buffs. Thorns is appealing. Should i play war/clr or war/dru?
Really enjoyed this video! Druids have to learn what their spells do and which ones are the big agro generators. I boxed a druid and wouldn't snare until the last 25% of its life and always give the tank a min to really establish agro. Root is also a spell they could use. Lastly, dont sit down right after if you know you about to get jumped.
Pulling and CC are why I love EQ. No other game has those roles in as satisfying of a way. Ranger pulling is the most fun and most power I've ever felt in an MMO.
As a cleric if they keep ping ponging i'll just let a few people die. They tend to learn to work together pretty quick when the cleric puts their foot down lol.
Love the surnames. With my "junk" or stuff guildies dont want I charm mobs in newbie zones and stuff whatever I can in them then let them go free so newbies can be in for a surprise when they kill them. Favorite pastime of mine. If ya get another pile I'll buy from ya to spread it around norrath
Dayum that name change, my dad used to tell me all the time that when he met my mom that he quite literally had to pick between her and EverQuest, ultimately picked her, but he managed to sneak in a bit when I was little, and thus I got into it with him, haven't stopped playing since.
A really good druid is a worthwhile party member. Back on p99 i used to play with a druid as an enc regularly wuth a war and clr too. He would pull in dungeons, would spot heal, dps and keep me alive during charm breaks by pulling snap aggro.
Man I’m digging these vids, I’m on Mischief and thought about documenting the journey because there are so many cool memories I tend to forget how things went.
Game was so much different when you could lose your gear. "Problem" players were less of an issue. Nice video! EverQuest would be so much different if streaming was a thing way back then.
Super cool video! I started over on Rizlona and ended up in a tiff with my guild leader so I went back to my main on Tunare. Gosh I wish I had started again. My main is a 115 cleric. Being a healer is what I have always played
I was enjoying this round of tlp's with random loot but the toxic crap going on around rare epic pieces just sucks the fun out of the game. Also, free trade leads to chronic krono farming bolloxs. Randomising epic drops would help alleviate the toxicity around this aspect of the game and I really hope they implement it for the next lot of tlp's.
Back in the day (ie. 20 years ago) if we had a full group we'd set ourselves up in a spot where the mobs were pathing and try to hold position there. There was very little time spent pulling and so even the puller was contributing to the group's dps. It was more fun because mobs would add unexpectedly and occasionally you'd get overwhelmed and have to run for zone. But it had none of the "grind" feel to it because crises were frequent enough to keep us all on our toes.
I know you hate druids but we get clickys on all of all good spells. Snare, root, nukes. Right now I'm lvl 65 and I have clickys for my 58 hp regen and my 438dmg dot plus one for evac. So with all of that, it frees up half my spells slots for other group buffs
I've been wanting to try out Everquest 1 but I am not familiar with anything in regards to it. Is playing the game through Steam optimal, or should I look elsewhere to play the game? Any special launchers or servers I should be aware of? Any guides or videos on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
I would suggest to get the launcher from the everquest website. The steam one can be spotty. The servers I play require a membership but the other 2 most popular servers that are free would be Firiona Vie (all expansions unlocked) and Project 1999 Green (recreation of old school EQ) which is a whole different installation process. There's videos on it though.
03:00 If everyone in the group has SoW then you will be ok unless the guard named Selo shows up... He runs at bards Selo speed and will ruin your night
A good druid will buff, heal, dps, snare. If its outdoors they will pull. Honestly its hard to believe how much hate druids have developed over the years. I was tanking for a group on my druid on Agnarr in valor. Its pretty amazing what the class can do if someone understands it. I have saved so many groups with evacs, clutch roots and kiting mobs while the group gets its footing. A good druid is really hard to find perhaps, but they are also hard to beat since they could easily fill any role in a group on agnarr and can switch on the fly during bad pulls. On live druids are even better at their role of support and healing but obviously lose their ability to tank group mobs after 65 era. They still have some of the best buffs, great dps and they are solid healers even if they are not the BEST healers. That is price they pay for being able to QUINT kite at 90+ and solo rake in exp with a lesson burn that is better than they can earn in a group.
I know this vid is older but i wanted to let you know, not all druids are bad. I try to play a support role when grouping. I manage to pull aggro just by being in a group so im vety careful with my casting because of that. It takes a lot of research and practice to get good being a druid.
I started on p99 week one. I bought all the quality hides off NPC's and silk on credit, I believe I was the first maker of Reinforced Leather, I had a whole suit, with that I grouped Rolling as Tank from Orc 1 to MM pool, I used Treeform and Thorns to do damage with Flamelick and snare to hold aggro, all the clerics loved me tanking. Everyone else hated it haha...
I put forward that Druid’s aren’t the problem. Being able to get to max level in 48 hours of play breeds a bunch of knuckleheads that don’t learn their class.
Hay had an idea for monk get thrown weapons you can spawn from an item? Rogues get crits on thrown weapons. This the upgrade they need monk should get the thrown stun like beast lords. Or a root or stun item could help. Just idea. I got broken thumbs from gaming so it nice watch some smart on EQ. Peace
One druid should've been on heals. With multiple druids I don't think the dots stack so DD spells pretty much had to be used. You guys didn't even have a proper tank (the ranger) so I'd argue it wasn't entirely the druids' faults. although the afk one should've been kicked.
Druid has been my main for 20 years. Looks like the druids you were playing with don't know how to play in a group. This is unfortunately common since many druids solo most of the way. I wouldn't hate on druids. I would hate on the people that don't know how to play their class based on the type of group they are in nor apparently asked what role you want them to play. Cripes, one of the druids should have been all snare, root, DoTs, the other heals, DS, buffs, and a DD or DoT that the main DPS druid won't use. @@IonBlaze1 druid was my main for a long time. the good druids stand out, but there are so few of them :( A good druid adds spot heals, so the cleric doesn't have to heal every minor bump and scrap, provides solid damage, snares, and can get your group out of a sticky situation if you don't have a wizard. A bad druid sits around afk and doesn't pulll their own weight, or pulls agro by trying to be a wizard or a ranger (as you showed) and it's frustrating dealing with those types.
Let me get this straight, you are upset because you have to chase a mob....so you dont like that they dps one. I get in dungeons....but in open world? Seriously, you expect dot classes to NOT dot...then you also said you thought on was AFK....how do you win with you. It seems like instead of Druids being annoying, you just have a single-minded playstyle....tank/spank. You can kill mobs...without taking damage...but the melee has to like...play.
The drones line doesn't pull that much aggro but any flame lick line will. A druid shouldn't use immolate/flame lick if they need a tank to hold aggro. Especially more so when it's a ranger tank who needs to use those same spells to hold aggro. I've seen DPS guild members get guild removed for aggro ripping on raids. Some mobs riposte so hard from the front that if the mob turns around to the dps pack on the rear, it'll wipe the raid. It's gets to a point where it's not a joke anymore.
@@IonBlaze1 You are bringing up raid mechanics, but I am referencing grouping techniques. I box a War and I recently had to adjust to how necros DPS and kite. Some classes become shells of themselves operating that way. If you have 3 druids in your group, the enemies dont summon, and you have room to run around...they should all be dotting and kiting and nobody should be tanking. Maybe you have a primary kiter for coordination if needed. That's why necros and druids (an probably others) quad kite. It is more effective (if you have mana) to have DOTs rolling on many mobs). Even the druid epic is a mana-less dot, spreading the dot damage out over many enemies subverts the problem with mobs dying too quickly. Yes the flame line has aggro, why do you think? When I kite for my necro I use the flame lick and the drones line. That way I hold aggro at very little mana cost. I am just saying, it is very easy to get frustrated with another classes play style because it isn't your own. Maybe Druid and necros get upset at tanks because they can't hold aggro. Last time I checked, you can still DPS and mob being kited as melee...and you can do it without needing heals.
He mad because he boxing and switches to the shaman after the pull. It annoyed him to have to swap back to his monk and reposition, which I understand but he didn't say at all in the video he acted as if the druid player(s) were just fucking up instead of just saying "hey it's kinda hard to play 2 characters at once when you do that" and taking some of the blame himself. Grow up, you chose to 2-box sometimes it's not convenient. That's the price you pay for playing a high-apm class like shaman with a melee pulling class.
