I've enjoyed all of your videos over the years. From one dad to another... It is definitely a lifestyle change and the ability to play EQ for more than an hour here and there is hard to come by. Once the kiddo sleeps through the night and has a normal schedule (2 years old?), you can start to have some hobby time back.
@@IonBlaze1 Hey man, homeskillet above is right…but about two years old is when she wants number two child…she realizes, holy hellfire…I need another body to help me keep this 2yo occupied. I mean some people are 1 and done, but it’s an exception and not a rule. 4 years of baby grind is what I’d prepare for…I played EQ since 99 until 02 when I joined navy. I came back to EQ thru live free play and then hated it and found p99. I wish red server was as active as blue, but alas, the same mechanics that you praise leave us with horrible pvp balancing. I hated bards above all else. They had super combos only available to mega nerds who understood how to write a script and not just have a clever keybinding. Mega Nerds empowered by fastest movement enhancement…My God how they loved to flex. Swoop up every mob in the zone and then start pvping you. If he don’t get you…well, that mega train sure as hellfire will… I’ve raised two kids. Stepson whose dad suicided after a crack relapse. And my blood daughter who was vaccine damaged and has something similar to avoidance OCD. Happiest most well adjusted daughter at age 2 and after MMR at age 3 she became inconsolable and refused to wear clothing until the age of 5. Anyway, I mention that to encourage you to vaccinate your child after the blood brain barrier has been established around the age of 5. Anywho, anyone attentive enough to play bard is gonna make a great dad. Congrats homeskillet. Whenever you ready to come back make a vid and a discord/whatever channel and I’ll join you in a casual campaign to beat EQ. The kind where the journey is way better than the destination. Btw, I never maxed leveled in EQ classic. I was too busy wandering, pvping and RPing. I was a member of the royal family of dark elves. Shanel Zek, a cousin to the King. I had to get special GM approval to get my last name as Zek. My buddy started the first cross teaming guild in all of EQ. It was wildly popular and was a noob friendly guild that spent hours upon hours supporting noobies. My buddy sold his account for thousands of dollars when he quit to pay for law school. He only plays FPS games now. AA for gamers. Never again an MMO for him…lol See you for now, everything happens for a reason, no regrets, HalleluYah
@IonBlaze1 I just had a kid, he's 2 now, I still only game at night once he's in bed then half the time I'm too tired 😅 hope you been faring better than I have haha
I have played MMO's for many, many years and the one constant is, I just miss playing occasionally. Don't say goodbye forever, come back and say hello every once and awhile. Your videos (and you) deserve a great deal of respect. I understand significant life changes realign perspectives and priorities. I just hate the idea of another EQ icon being gone forever. Good luck my friend. I truly hope to see another EQ video!
I straight teared up on the last bit. I'm super happy for you being a new dad and, hopefully it's not forever goodbye, you've breathed something back into everquest for I am sure a lot of us. Good luck bro 💪 ❤️
Really enjoyed this series, I have looked forward to each episode before it was released. Only started watching your channel recently and it’s honestly the best one for capturing the EQ experience from so many perspectives. Allows me to relive the nostalgia when I used to play back in 1999, it was a brilliantly addictive experience (up until GoD!). Congratulations on your news and there is no better journey than the one you are about to embark upon however, selfishly, I hope you continue to make some videos as they are the best ❤️
i find it very interesting how everyone has their own little moment or expansion that EQ died for them, Ha ha! For me it was the Luclin models. I really like beastlord too and some of the luclin zones and planes of power stuff. But those Luclin models, man. I knew the golden days were over
Thank you for all the content you've given us through all your adventures and guides! I've dipped in and out of Everquest since PoP but NEVER had more than a couple of hours a week since little ones came along. It's still nice to check in every now and then though :)
I am deeply saddened by this I love having EQ content creators and follow a lot of their videos religiously I can’t tell you how many times I have rewatched reptoxx and your videos regardless of what they where these last 3 videos have been so great and I will miss them a ton
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing it all with us and Congratulations on becoming a Dad! My son is about to turn 19 and I remember playing the original EQ back in 99 and honestly I've played Live for almost every expansion except these past 4 years. So many great memories you made me relive with your video series. I never played TLP, mainly because I just don't have that kind of time anymore. Live was still good enough to scratch that itch, but it is definitely a different beast. Appreciate all your videos and good luck!
I had to double take when I saw your name. I remember watching some of your MQ2 videos & Windows v. Linux OS stuff! I about flipping when I heard ads were being served on file explorer on Win11. You're involved with redguides too yeah? Thank you so much for watching & the kind words :)
@@IonBlaze1 Yeah, I was pretty involved with RedGuides under the name Noobhaxor. I wrote most of the auto macros that many folks use or use a macro based on it. Most of the bad actors when it comes to boxers on truebox is from that "bugs" website. RG and the official MQ2 community made an agreement with Daybreak to ensure MQ would NOT work on Truebox / TLP servers. Disheartening to see it bypassed, but I knew that would eventually happen. I've been white hat on EQ since 2010 in House of Thule. Had some guy warp on top of a named I was camping and killed it. That was when I became vocal in many of the MQ / RG posts and made a point to put my 2 cents on discontinuing Warp, Piggyzone, and many of packet injection plugins that folks were using to do these things.
We have been blessed this week with three fantastic uploads, I can honestly say I get so engrossed in them I never want them to end. I have followed you since your mangler days, such a great content creator. From me, a massive thank you and to actually speak on thornblade was a surreal moment. huge congratulations to you and your partner my friend, please pop in now and again, UA-cam won't be the same without you mate. Zool.
Quit giving daybreak games money so they sell the IP to a competent studio that isn't full of greedy corporate shit bags. As long as DBG owns the IP nothing will change.
Becoming a dad is why I had to leave EQ - SIXTEEN YEARS AGO... That baby girl is driving - and here I am living vicariously through you, ROFL. Good luck on th4e GREATEST adventure you will EVER embark on - Parenthood
Man, I've been watching your vids for years. I played EQ classic as a kid, and I've hopped on p99 a few times, but I really just enjoy the stories you tell. Even the negative stuff is interesting. Congrats on the kid! I do hope you come back to make videos though.
Congrats on the awesome news dude! I have only logged on once since lunar launched cause work has me so busy. Its harsh to say but life always has to come first especially with a big thing like this. I’ve loved watching your videos and will definitely miss them. Another great EQ content creator to join the hall of fame along with Flatts, bobsnbits, and the rest. Thanks for all the great work
🎵🎶🗡️ Thanks for all the work you have put into playing and producing these videos that bring back the good and bad EQ memories. It was always an adventure for me. Best wishes for you and yours on new family adventures. 🚼
I never saw how these fights went back in 1999 as I didn't get into a proper raiding guild until Kunark. I was among the first to die on a server first Trakanon attempt on Luclin. I did experience these on emulators where I was hilariously overpowered. Thanks for the re-visit and nostalgia. Some of the EMU servers do good things to get you into the old zones, but they also disappear over time. So, I ran a horde of mobs over the top of people who invaded a camp of mine once. They had it coming, was back in SOE days and SOE did nothing to me. You could have killed Hasten PHs until the monk spawned ... haha, fun is over! Like you, the lower / mid leveling group experience was the absolute most fun with the best memories of long forgotten friends. Thanks for making these videos.
I’d like to say that one day about a month ago I had a thought “man I never got to see any of the raid in EQ since I never got past 51.” Also I was crap warrior but for some reason I wanted to see if there were in EQ raid videos so I could actually see what they were like. EQ was a game I hated and loved but just got into as all my friend who had been playing it switched over to WoW so of course I followed suit but I always wanted to go back. Then I find this channel and man you have a great gift for story telling and building interest into a near cinematic scene. But your videos inspired me to just get back at it again (3 kids here btw) and just dabble in it when I can because I truly miss the pure mmorpg experience even though it’s definitely a smaller subscription base now but I just want to get on and give it a try without finding out I have to sink endless $ into it to experience the full game. Either way congrats on your big news! As a dad I can say there is nothing more important other than my wife, are my children. But EQ aside you have a true gift for story telling so use that going forward with your kids! Take them on grand adventures! I did it and it led to ample hrs of tales of Emmitt the brave and Eli the explorer… I’m not kidding.. years of stories based off games and other fantasy tales that they will just beg for more and more about. Use your skills bro and congrats again!
Leveling up some toons right before Luclin drops! 200% XP BONUS WOOT. Watching these videos while i play. Thanks for making them. Yelinak needs more content like yours.
Oh man I just discovered your channel today and burned through this series at work, congratulations on the big news!!! I've just started to really dig into EQ for the first and am about start playing on P99, this series has probably gotten me more excited to play the most out of any other videos I've seen so thank you for all of the hard work!!!
Mischief really was a great experience that fixed so many of these issues, really excited for Teek for the same reason. Going to those unused zones started to become adventures that could result in big loot, there was more trading, and more plat flowing because of trades. There was way less arguments over camps, and no need to fight over the premium ones. Not perfect by any means, but enough fun I will do it again.
Thank you for your wonderful videos! The baby will pretty much take up all your time and attention for a while… but not forever. Good luck, best wishes, and I hope to see you out there again someday!
Congrats on the family man! I went through the same thing years ago. Definitely don’t play games like I used to when I was younger, but my wife and I still hop on (very) casually when we can 😂 thanks for the great content and good luck!
When Plane of Fear was revamped, our guild decided to try it. A new mob, Ireblind Imp, proceeded to spank us. We called in reinforcements and they wiped. Word went out and the #1 guild on Terris-Thule showed up to help out. It took a while to work out the strategy but they finally figured out the mechanics of that mob after also wiping out. We finally put together a huge raiding force consisting of most of the #1 guild and the guild officers of most of the other guilds that had been raiding that night. The number of corpses that were in the zone when we went back in was just unreal! Thanks for bringing back some memories with this video!
It’s been a journey to say the least watching your videos. My interest for EQ has been sparked by great content creators like your self. I know this isn’t a “goodbye” but just a “AFK while I go raise a new life” haha. I loook forward to having you return in the future, who knows maybe your little one gets into EQ because of his awesome Dad and his videos. Take care of yourself and God bless your family and your new born!
Glad I randomly decided to search up some classic EQ vids to keep me company at work today! What a treat to relive the TLP experience, along with your great editing and storytelling. I'm an old-time vet of EQ beta, Live (to Luclin) and the Fippy Darkpaw TLP (also to Luclin; did you play this one?). While I was also in a top guild on Live for Classic/Kunark/Velious, I'd have to say that playing on Fippy was the most challenging and rewarding experience I think I'll ever have in gaming, both of which for so many reasons beyond what someone looking on from the outside might think. Everquest is so much more than 'just a game', and real relationships are nurtured in the midst of the grind, drama, successes, and failures. Cheers and all the best in the next chapters of life.
Fantastic quality EverQuest content! Moooooooooooore!! :D loved ur 4 video kinda series. Amazing job! U make me feel like when watching Flatts/reptox videos for the first time ( i have done it way more then that by now rofl). U tell great stories with them just like he did and especially this episode felt really dynamic and fun to watch. Keep up the great work! Bless ya
@@IonBlaze1 hadnt watched till the very end when commenting. Sad to hear ur EQ Video making journey will come to end as a viewer of them. I enjoyed ur work and love for them alot but also great to hear ur blessed with fatherhood now! Good luck to you! Thx
Thank you for the video. Having played EQ as a teenager but not getting far, I've always wanted to replay it on Project 1999 or a TLP. Really what I'm looking for is to re-*live* it, the way it felt when it was more of a virtual world to live in rather than just a game. I've done a couple TLPs up to level 50, once on Coirnav as a warrior and once on Mangler as a necromancer. I really enjoyed it both times, but somehow couldn't get going when Kunark came out, barely getting far enough to figure out the new dungeon keys and giving up soon after. I think it's because I didn't have a social circle that I could fit in. Making one is hard because I work rotating shifts so I will always miss some raid days no matter what they are. I played Yelinak up to 35 as a cleric, hoping that it would be different this time and I could find somewhere to fit in as a social player and persist through the expansions and see all the things I never got to. It's sad to think that TLPs are a slow death of ever-fewer people logging in every day that eventually dwindles away. In short, like the theme of your video, I'd like to play EQ but I'm not sure what the best way is for me. Good luck with your new adventure. I am certain that you will be successful in it, no matter how challenging it feels sometimes, because of the even temperament you display in your videos.
It’s dope seeing you do these. I’ve actually been in yurds guild for most of my levels. We did naggy and vox quite a few times but what you said about dracoliche is totally true, that aoe disease shreds HP, full raid buffs even as a chanter I’m well over 3K and my HP just melted
I had to duck out before the end of the premiere stream, so I missed the final announcement..CONGRATS ON THE LOOT! I am very thankful for the years of content you made for this community, you spoke for alot of us That is a very lucky kid to have the passion you have towards this game and hobby redirected towards them, best of luck on this new great chapter!
When DAoC came out I switched to it from EQ. I soloed a lot. I joined a guild but usually I only duoed with one person. It took us nearly a year and a half to reach max lvl that way. It was the most rewarding time in my MMORPG life. I seriously shed a tear and thanked my friend Velrious for the duoing. We joined the rest of our guild forlate game raids but it was never the same as the late nights duoing with my best (rpg) friend late at night in a dungeon fighting mobs. I have missed that experience nearly 20 yrs later still trying to find that gaming connection again. I believe that's why my channel hasn't taken off because I can't find a game with a great gaming community to make quality videos to post. I am now 42 years old & a dad myself. Good luck & be safe out there! (My usual MMORPG farewell to "friends" after a group or raid)
Congrats IB, you're gonna be a great dad! Thank you for all the excellent videos, I love EQ like you do and I love your content. I've said goodbye to you before, was awhile ago, and you came back, so I'm hoping that will happen again. :) Take care and enjoy this new stage of life!
Your videos showed me why i always go back to MMOS, there is just nothing like going on adventures with your friends. Good luck on your new adventure man, and i hope all the best for you.
I've returned to EQ after 18 years, and the guild I found on Drinal has been extremely friendly and taken care of me beyond belief. In one week, I have an 88 Cleric, 64 Nerco, 65 Enchanter, 62 Shaman, 49 Warrior & 49 Ranger. I've also been leveling on live using classic style gear, not defiant and it's been a blast. These systems are in Live, but they never _changed_ the underlying functionality of the base everquest, and you can still give yourself a faux experience. :)
Congratulations 🎊🎉 on your new quest as a father! I wish you and your family the very best! For me, the best parts of the game have alway been the people you spend the time with, both in and out of groups. I have been lucky in that most of the group's I have been in are normally good groups, even if they are pick ups. Once I managed to get with a group on a semi regular basis on Corniv. That was probably the best. Also, the two friend I spent the most time with in my years on Vallon Zek, Vabann and Arggoroth(sp). Going on PvP hunts with these two was something beyond grouping for exp or loot. TLPs only bring a very tiny portion of what it was like way back in the early days. The exp is too fast to really enjoy the ride. Hell levels where supposed to slow you down so you had a chance to explore other areas before you out leveled them. Now, you can hit max level in a day. There is so much lost when you only see a few zones for the whole trip. Every time I start over on a new TLP I try to go to zones that I never experienced or only very little. Saddly, if you don't have a static group, you are stuck in two or three zones all the way to 50.
Dude, you make watching EQ a lot of fun, I'm very entertained! Lots of nostalgia for me since 99. I should get back into playing it, I just feel servers are empty and hard to get help if I needed it.
Congrats on the baby, man!! It is a life changing experience, but the best one yet! I have HIGHLY enjoyed your videos and I wish you nothing but the best from here on, if you decide to leave! One love, brother!
Scarcity directly affects rarity over time. Rarity based on time is REQUIRED. So if you want to do it based on skill, you'll have to up the skill to a level that most players won't be able to do it. Plus it's VERY hard to do this well in game design.
1. Rifts or portals start opening across all over old zones. These portals change the scaling of monsters to the level of your group as well as spawning new interesting invaders who are coming cross dimension.
Congrats on the baby! I recently discovered your content and I love it! If I was to create my own rule set for a TLP, I like the idea of LDoN early. I quit when GoD was live. I loved leveling alts exclusively in LDoN groups.
Congrats on being a dad! Change in priorities is why I didn't play Yelinak this time around, but who knows I may find time to play again next year. I would like to see some sort of changes like you said to help make the experience more enjoyable.
Becoming a dad Is the Best Epic there is. Congrats on that buddy. Got 2 Daughters 8 and 5 years old, Best Loot ive ever gotten! Loved The series BTW, very well done!
@@IonBlaze1 We never did the raid that night either it ended up being a 6 hour CR. We had a full raid of 76 and it took the monks and necros that long to recover the bodies to safe place. The only thing worse than that was having to go back and do all the PoP key mobs again for a few months after tons of peeps left EQ when WoW came out. We were just about to finish PoT when that happened.
IMO Named mobs should be just like Epic mobs, the 1st to engage it locks to that person, it will stop the kill steal, DPS steal. I'm a paladin, Paladins do no DPS, but yet I'll be tanking the mob, and someone will come and out dps me and take the mobs loot/xp while I tank it for them. it's BS and needs to be fixed. Thats my one gripe about TLP's
You hit the nail on the head with the useless zones. I plan to fix this on my EMU server Project Luna by adding unique balanced loot and new lore friendly encounters to each zone like the Priest of Fear in Unrest or Mayong in Castle Mistmoore.
My opinion is that in old school zones, there are a couple of items with clicky utility effects that make those zones permanently camped by high level farmers. For anyone new trying to raid zones like Old Seb, it's impossible.
On the ancient ring, at least on p99, there’s a single camp that’s shared among players so it’s not as contentious. I just observed a couple players making friends at the AC camp because the long wait made them talk to each other. As far as making the bottle neck a little less painful, I would suggest a trigger quest to spawn ac that takes about as much time, but keeps you moving around at least.
Yeah that's right. I did it once on P99, you just wait your turn right? I like the quest idea. EQ2 had "heritage" quests where you would do a difficult quest to acquire a legendary piece of EQ1 gear. Nothing was bottlenecked per se
My dad once told me a story about a Fear raid he went on when Fear released. Apparently, when everyone zoned in, they were instantly dragged across the zone and killed, the whole raid wiped. So they called a second guild to help them. Unfortunately, both of their efforts were laid to rest forcibly. So they begged a guide to help, and both guilds eventually convinced guides to get them all their corpses and gear back. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure my dad was a Ranger in that story you told near the beginning of the video.
Nice ! I loved this game. And Thank you for producing entertaining videos about it ! I hope we dont lose you, brother !!!! Just teach your kid to heal !
As a Ranger i camped the ancient cyclops in South Ro. He's a random spawn there, so there's no camp. Whoever tracks him fastest gets him. That's where I camped him to sell MQ for Jboots. It was the best option as a Ranger.
Travel well and thank you for the great content! being a dad is the coolest thing I ever did. Change lots of diapers, give mom breaks when you can and enjoy every minute!
On live, I'd chuck in some kind of Defiant+ Loot Algorithim. So a Short Sword of the Ykesha becomes a Defiant style weapon with Ykesha Proc. Basic armor drops can add stats, like a +5AC on defiant, varying by level, maybe give +1 hero stat on the most numerous stat. Also they should just offer instances of any zone on request for paid accounts. If you can get a hotzone that isn't too ganked for you to get your daily done during the mid game grind, that's gonna sell some upgrades.
Congrats Man big changes coming for you indeed. Still hoping to find another server that keeps my interest past Kunark. Always feel I can't go back to live with my 85sk from the Combine for the reasons you stated here. Also can't seem to stick to a TLP for fear of taking a break, falling behind, then never catching up. Think that's why I loved Agnarr so much and stayed through til the end. Yes the server eventually died out, but I actively played on that server for almost 2 years. Would really love another locked server, but at a later expansion like PoR so you get all the content through Lvl 70 just to do some Epic 2.0's again.
Most raid rez's I've ever had to deal with...was a horror. Took forever. I have no good memories of Fear. Mind you this was before any of the new bells and whistles, like extended target window, mass rez, etc. Damn I'm getting mad just thinking about it now all these years later. Long live Everquest!!
Congrats on the baby!! Baby plus EQ is tough for sure. Mines 3 now and I'm getting back in to playing again. Should try Vaniki very nice player base and easy to jump into with all the open expansions.
My son plays P99 more than I do now. He just turned 13 this summer. I started playing on EQemu servers before he was born. The servers have lasted more than 20 years now, so likely will be around for many more years. Heck, if Emu, just compile and run your own local server for small group of friends or guild if the main servers all die out.
Selos TLP was such fun, was fast, 2 raids a week, I was one of the best geared enchanters on the server and was fun doing groups with people who thought you were a god. Joining a DoN group that wiped with 6 and and basically soloing the dungeon really makes the raiding gear feel worth it.
I have been streaming a lot of my time on the Oakwynd server, and I gotta say, I wish I was as god at editing the footage into more condensed versions, heh. Nice job.
totally agree about how special the social aspect of classic EQ was it's a shame about how broken official 'progression' servers are, but I agree with u that the journey to the end of the game was way more fun than end-game raiding (except maybe the first few times u see one of those zones with pals) grats on the kid and best of luck with that
They should do what Final Fantasy 14 does and allow higher levels to go down to lower level character's level if you group up with them and get xp towards AAs and give the lower levels an xp boost as well
@@IonBlaze1 basically it encourages higher lvl players to group with lower levels doing lower level content. You get currency that can be used for alt classes and crafting and lower levels get to progress through story and raids and get the same currency depending on level. If Daybreak did something like that it could help a lot
I'm having a blast on Mischief thanks to being in a solid & fun raiding guild. Though the most fun was leveling up with some old friends. DoN is out next week and I'll get to see all new content going forward for myself.
I tested Plane of Fear prior to it's launching, it was really rough then, yet by the time it was released it wasn't too bad. The entry was the tough part, you really needed people to be sharp and to pay attention.
Your new quest is just beginning. Pay attention to it. As you've stated, it's all about the adventure. Enjoy your literal new life and the adventures that they bring. Who knows...if you take a long enough break, you can make a character with your kid one day and play again
This series of videos have been amazing. Entertaining, and you're a great storyteller. Congratulations and good luck on stuff happening in your real life. I'll be playing p1999 and Yelinak, casually, I may add. If I somehow ever see you in game, I'll say hi. But I agree on your issues with the game, and I hope they one day get fixed.
I don't play any form of EQ currently but the original version of the game still fascinates me. I thought the purpose of P99 was to replicate how the game felt on release. While instancing would make the game more "accessible", it would destroy one of the most unique aspects of the game which other MMO's gradually tossed away.
Daybreak/Darkpaw, or whatever they are calling themselves theses days, dose not care about krono farmers. kronos are still purchased and they care not where the money comes from.
I do not think instancing is the answer to P1999. I think they need to reduce the spawn timers so raid mobs are on a 24 hour spawn and not a 7 day spawn. However if you were on a raid to kill say Nagafen, you get locked out for 7 days. This way other guilds have an opportunity to raid without Kingdom or Stealteam taking all the raid bosses.
I dont know if its still in or not, but in original EQ, you could heal the mob a solo dude is fighting. We did this to dicks who KS, or generally abusive to others. Yeah, a mob they could normally solo, if you heal it ends up killing the attacker. Its a great way to get back at someone.
Congratulations on your dad status. I'm father 4 times over and I love it. Every person I bring into this world is a new and different personality. They have their similarities but like the last child I had, They always teach you new things about life.
I had an issue with another necro when I was farming Hill Giants. I too was playing a Bard. I would have been 100% fine if he was just killing giants, too. But he'd dot up giants I was kiting, because he knew I couldn't out DPS him. He was KSing cause he knew he could. yet we could have just shared the camp and I even told him that. He chose to just ignore me. So, everytime he attacked a giant, I'd charm it.
Hate was my very first raid. Huddle close in the zone in.. stay away from the walls. What a blast as our guild began to conquer different raids. We weren’t anywhere near top tier but that first experience was crazy fun.
Fix 3: They used to have that with the shroud. The issue is it is so easy to cheese the system. For example, say that I want to max my aa on my warrior. I shroud down and then run with a Bard of a similar level. Use a high-level SK tank, and now my warrior is max aa in no time. Another one that used to be super fun is the alternate missions for a zone (where you have to pick from a pre-built to class and play thru). The issue here is the reward (being AA) is often not as good as taking AA in a new zone because you may get gear or spells (Especially early on in an expansion) that are worth more than the AA. Fix 4: People don't raid to have fun they raid for loot. Helping new players with vox tends to be a poop show as an example. I will never be able to relive doing Vox in the era on a dial-up with 70 people, getting disconnected 3 times during the raid and loving that we took down a big beast. The way they did progression servers still doesn't have the same feel. Giving me 5 aa for something that may or may not happen depending on the players trying isn't worth the time or energy. Raids in EQ are a little different than other MMO's (Not so different from Mythic raiding in WoW). If people don't understand it is more of a military operation than do what you want nothing of value will happen. In my opinion, the problem EQ has is it is an old game with a complex end game that typically requires a well-balanced raid on the live servers. For single players, outside of a few classes, there isn't much to do. Most people 3 box or higher that raid, because the player base has matured. I, for example, don't have time to wait in LFG for 30 mins - 1 hour only to get a spot and now I get 1 hour to play? Way easier to 3 box goto my spot hit 2 solid hours of advancement then raid on the nights we have.
For old world Fear, the best way to clear it with a guild is to do AOE and massive pulls. Clerics protect the casters, enchanters rune the casters, and anyone with aoe stun chain casts. The melee? They are SOL.
Anybody remember the days when agroing Draco also agrod Cazic thule who of course summons all of Fear to come to his aid. at one time you pretty much had to try to clear fear of everything, without agroing Draco
First of all (and MOST importantly), Congrats on being a dad! Second, if you ever need a teammate for EQ, look me up. I played it on Day 1 in 1999 and for many years after (including P99). I am good with casual or hardcore gameplay.
Not sure if you are aware, since you said you haven't played on a live server in a while, but the live servers now have instanced versions of old raid zones, complete with loot. I think the exp on trash mobs in these zones has been reduced a lot in order to keep people from using them as exp zones, but all the loot is there. I had fun earlier this year taking my 106 mage solo into Naggy & Vox, Fear, Hate, Kael, etc. Soloed the whole zone, each time. Didn't really get anything I could use, but picked up some twink gear. Fun for the nostalgia. I only play occasionally these days. I'll sub for a month or three (two accounts, I just two box mage/shammy), then drop sub and play something else, usually a single player game for several months. I always come back to EQ every year or two, just to see what's going on. But yea, live is a ghost town on lower level zones. Most people box.
Would love to see some of the work done by the EQ Emu team over the years legitimized more beyond just getting the permission to run without consequence as long as it isn't monetized. Great programmers there, great staff to run things. Also, since 1999, you're not playing EQ right if you don't get cussed out somewhere by someone.
A key to fixing Everquest is to be able to bring in a LOT of new players. The good news is that I know what would bring in MANY new players. Sadly, it isn't only having better graphics, although it would help. It also isn't opening up new TLPS with the same rule sets as with the normal games. Here are my suggestions for getting Everquest almost back to their original numbers....yes. I think this is doable with my suggestions: 1. Having better graphics using the Unreal engine is a good start. This will help in many ways including having a more efficient easy to use interface. 2. Having a new TLP that has FV rules and benefits and/or 3. Making the game MUCH more solo friendly. Everquest is primarily a group friendly game and solo unfriendly game, although it has gotten a bit better from a soloing perspective. Right now , most servers, for the most part, have their players at higher levels.. leaving the new , incoming lower level players to fend for themselves in a solo unfriendly game. Even worse, EQ only adds more of the same when they constantly open up TLP servers. There are many approaches to making the game more solo friendly that could be tried such as giving powerful buff bots in POK and/or significantly reducing the aggro radius and social friendliness of mobs etc. Another approach, which is the one I like the most, is that they should allow up to two or three mercs, which would eliminate the need to box ( which is a problem) and eliminate the need for bots. These additions would make the game a LOT more solo friendly. I would also absolutely use the fast travel system found in EQ2 where you can click on a link in the map and go to that zone. I should note that instead of the crappy extra perks that they are providing for an extra monthly fee, they could provide those things, and also multiple mercs, as an added paid perk that could result in more revenue to Daybreak Games. Thus, we have a win-win situation.. Adopting all or at least some of these changes into the game mechanics would explode the number of new players in my opinion. Now, I do get that some of the older veterans may not like these ideas. However, I would be willing to bet that implementing any or all of these suggestions would work wonders. Simply doing more of the same by opening up new TLP servers with the same rules isn't going to attract many newer players.
I played on Agnarr at launch, and quit for the exact reasons you talked about. Competing with people willing to cheat, lie and scam their way to Kronos was just not fun.
Family first brother!!! Do NOT let anything take away the time you have with your kids especially when they're so little. Don't let your computer be the high argue point of your relationship either. It ain't easy
Lol PoF is/was the hardest break in. I remember sitting for at least 2 hours waiting to clear the entry. And then yay i get to use harmshield and eat ALL the dt's from the cthulu mobs in the temple.
Congratulations on being a dad. I am a father of three and still play on Aradune. The trick is family, work, game balance. I hope to see you back soon. You are a pillar in eq content material. You will be missed until you return.
Thank you for the Pro Tips lol :)
If he don’t get you…well, that mega train sure as hellfire will…
I’ve raised two kids.
Never again an MMO for him…lol
See you for now, everything happens for a reason, no regrets, HalleluYah
@IonBlaze1 I just had a kid, he's 2 now, I still only game at night once he's in bed then half the time I'm too tired 😅 hope you been faring better than I have haha
I have played MMO's for many, many years and the one constant is, I just miss playing occasionally. Don't say goodbye forever, come back and say hello every once and awhile. Your videos (and you) deserve a great deal of respect. I understand significant life changes realign perspectives and priorities. I just hate the idea of another EQ icon being gone forever. Good luck my friend. I truly hope to see another EQ video!
Wow thank you for the very nice compliment Scott :)
well said brotha. miss ya. text me
@@DonKeller_dkexotics exactly how I play EQ -- I prolly sub about 4-5 mos a year.
Thank you so much for watching & the kind words Crono :)
i find it very interesting how everyone has their own little moment or expansion that EQ died for them, Ha ha!
Thank you for the kind words Richard :)
I am deeply saddened by this I love having EQ content creators and follow a lot of their videos religiously I can’t tell you how many times I have rewatched reptoxx and your videos regardless of what they where these last 3 videos have been so great and I will miss them a ton
I agree, his and Flatt’s videos are the best, in my opinion.
Thank you so much CJ :)
@@IonBlaze1 you a great content creator I would love to see you make a hard version of what flatts did you alone made me want to roll a bard on p99

Quit giving daybreak games money so they sell the IP to a competent studio that isn't full of greedy corporate shit bags. As long as DBG owns the IP nothing will change.

That baby girl is driving - and here I am living vicariously through you, ROFL.
Good luck on th4e GREATEST adventure you will EVER embark on - Parenthood
Thank you for all the support :)
Man, I've been watching your vids for years. I played EQ classic as a kid, and I've hopped on p99 a few times, but I really just enjoy the stories you tell. Even the negative stuff is interesting. Congrats on the kid! I do hope you come back to make videos though.
Thank you for all the support :)
Thanks for all the great work
Thank you so much for you support through all these Ehlias :)
🎵🎶🗡️ Thanks for all the work you have put into playing and producing these videos that bring back the good and bad EQ memories. It was always an adventure for me.
Best wishes for you and yours on new family adventures. 🚼
Oh that's cool how you did the bard epic in text :) Thank you for the kind words :)
Thank you so much for the compliments Robert. You caught on. I just learned some story telling techniques so I had to try them out :)
Leveling up some toons right before Luclin drops! 200% XP BONUS WOOT. Watching these videos while i play. Thanks for making them. Yelinak needs more content like yours.
Your videos bring us back over and over again my friend. Hope they bring you back soon as well ❤️❤️❤️
This is exactly what I was thinking.
Haha they probably will :)
Oh man I just discovered your channel today and burned through this series at work, congratulations on the big news!!!
I've just started to really dig into EQ for the first and am about start playing on P99, this series has probably gotten me more excited to play the most out of any other videos I've seen so thank you for all of the hard work!!!
Uploading this whole series in one week made for an awesome week. Thanks for all the great content.
Thank you for watching Brian
Mischief really was a great experience that fixed so many of these issues, really excited for Teek for the same reason. Going to those unused zones started to become adventures that could result in big loot, there was more trading, and more plat flowing because of trades. There was way less arguments over camps, and no need to fight over the premium ones. Not perfect by any means, but enough fun I will do it again.
Dwarf Warrior/Druzzil Ro server, played 1999-2005 here, I appreciate the content.
Been feeling nostalgic and I appreciate your vids.
Thank you for the kind words Aaron :)
Try Mischief. The droppable loot is a game changer.
I remember how nasty POF was back in the day..it was said that the mobs had line of sight agro from anywhere in the zone
oooof that would be terrible to deal with!
Thank you for your wonderful videos! The baby will pretty much take up all your time and attention for a while… but not forever. Good luck, best wishes, and I hope to see you out there again someday!
Thank you for the support Nathan :)
Honestly, I play on Wayfarers haven now. I have more fun there than I did on P99 or on live. Really enjoying my EQ experience on this server
Congrats on the family man! I went through the same thing years ago. Definitely don’t play games like I used to when I was younger, but my wife and I still hop on (very) casually when we can 😂 thanks for the great content and good luck!
Thank you for the support Harrison :)
@@IonBlaze1 for sure man. Thanks for being a solid creator. Also, sleep in shifts when the baby comes! You’ll thank me later! 😅
Thank you for the kind words. That is a GREAT idea with the kid lol
Bless ya
Thank you so much for the kind words Peter. Hard to compare to flatts :)
@@IonBlaze1 and u managed it!
Thank you for the nice words V C. I wish you best in getting the EQ experience you deserve. "Even temperment" lol. I think I went nuts.
It’s dope seeing you do these. I’ve actually been in yurds guild for most of my levels. We did naggy and vox quite a few times but what you said about dracoliche is totally true, that aoe disease shreds HP, full raid buffs even as a chanter I’m well over 3K and my HP just melted
Oh you joined with Hammackj. That's awesome. I hope it's going well :)
I had to duck out before the end of the premiere stream, so I missed the final announcement..CONGRATS ON THE LOOT!
I am very thankful for the years of content you made for this community, you spoke for alot of us
That is a very lucky kid to have the passion you have towards this game and hobby redirected towards them, best of luck on this new great chapter!
Thank you so much for compliments Smullik :)
Thank you for the nice words Dr Scientist :)
Your videos showed me why i always go back to MMOS, there is just nothing like going on adventures with your friends.
Good luck on your new adventure man, and i hope all the best for you.
Thank you so much Matheus :)
Oh that's awesome. I happy for you Kohms :)
Thank you :) I totally get what you mean by limited zone usage. I wish I used HS, ToFS, Crystal Caverns, & Luclin zones but never get a chance to.
Thank you so much for the support Trey :)
Thank you for the support. Yeah maybe things will work out better in the future for you :)
Becoming a dad Is the Best Epic there is. Congrats on that buddy. Got 2 Daughters 8 and 5 years old, Best Loot ive ever gotten! Loved The series BTW, very well done!
Thank you so much :)
I was in Afterlife, the guild I believe you were talking about at the beginning. I’m old and I still remember sitting outside of fear.
AA rewards would have to be pretty massive to make it worthwhile to shroud down to do things. It is so trivial to earn AAs these days.
POF was always a giant nightmare to get into. I lost almost 2 levels on one raid trying to just get to the wall.
Ooof that's brutal!
Yeah that's a different way to fix it :) The loot locked * thing they added.
Congratulations on the new addition!
Take a break, recharge, and maybe we'll bump into each other somewhere in Norrath!
Cheers!
Felixx
Haha thank you so much Felixx :)
Dreaming of a TLP where every single drop would be random, on every single mob.
Jesus. This was a great video. Brings back awesome memories before the dark times...before World of Warcraft!
Lol "before the dark times." I feel like Disney did a number to Obi Wan in the new series.
Travel well and thank you for the great content! being a dad is the coolest thing I ever did. Change lots of diapers, give mom breaks when you can and enjoy every minute!
Thank you so much for the support Bubbleonia! Gonna teach the kid how to play when possible to come back lol.
@@IonBlaze1 Teach them to play tabletop RPGs too. All the coolest dads do that!
Ive never played everquest. but I love your content! Great videos and very entertaining , hope you make more
On live, I'd chuck in some kind of Defiant+ Loot Algorithim.
If you can get a hotzone that isn't too ganked for you to get your daily done during the mid game grind, that's gonna sell some upgrades.
keep it going! congrats on being a dad, i've played the most p99 since having a son - he loves watching
Hmm that's a good idea lol!
Thank you for the support Chase. I like that server idea. Met a lot of cool people from Agnarr :)
Did you do that without the cleric epic too lol? It's brutal with classic mana regen.
Love the hard work you put in! And congratulations on the kids.
Thank you itachi :)
Really awesome video man, very nostalgic. Great content and congrats on fatherhood :)
Nice job.
totally agree about how special the social aspect of classic EQ was
it's a shame about how broken official 'progression' servers are, but I agree with u that the journey to the end of the game was way more fun than end-game raiding (except maybe the first few times u see one of those zones with pals)
grats on the kid and best of luck with that
They should do what Final Fantasy 14 does and allow higher levels to go down to lower level character's level if you group up with them and get xp towards AAs and give the lower levels an xp boost as well
Oh that's awesome! Wasn't familiar that game did that. Sounds like EQ2's mentoring.
Thank you for that. Yeah it's the break-in that's a nightmare. Goes smooth from there :)
Your new quest is just beginning. Pay attention to it. As you've stated, it's all about the adventure. Enjoy your literal new life and the adventures that they bring. Who knows...if you take a long enough break, you can make a character with your kid one day and play again
Thank you for the support. Turn the kid in EQ child labor plat farming operation lol? Your name is so silly lol.
I last played on FV. Iksar Necro, I did a “self made” play style where I only used gear I looted….I NEVER saw another player until I was level 70.
That's another way & probably more doable. Don't need extra server infrastructure. 24hr repops would be awesome. Thanks for that suggestion.
ROFL, that explanation of plane of fear, where 2 guilds were wiped, and GMs intervened.... I was there! :)
Congrats! I had to step away too when mine came, it’s never good bye, only until next time!
Exactly,. There's no quitting EQ. It's just a break lol.
I vividly remember member raiding Hate and Fear.
Thank you.
For some reason your words remind me of member berries in south park lol
Oh that's a pretty sweet way to handle it :) I'd like to see that.
@@IonBlaze1 Yep, it's pretty amazing, but the poor melee...
15 AA is half an hour headshotting sarnaks.
Oh, and never, ever apologize to a Druid.
Congrats on the child! In 5-6 years, you'll just have an extra member of your party or someone to craft for you! haha
That's right :) Or use to farm plat perhaps
Would love to see some of the work done by the EQ Emu team over the years legitimized more beyond just getting the permission to run without consequence as long as it isn't monetized. Great programmers there, great staff to run things.
Also, since 1999, you're not playing EQ right if you don't get cussed out somewhere by someone.
Should have started chain dispelling everything the druid/necro fought. Ayyy. Progression Servers are a battle ground. It's wild sometimes.
I think this is doable with my suggestions:
1. Having better graphics using the Unreal engine is a good start. This will help in many ways including having a more efficient easy to use interface.
2. Having a new TLP that has FV rules and benefits and/or
