My take on this is Capcom failed to get MHN into the Chinese market because of the great Internet firewall, so they work together from inside with Tencent to enjoy a piece from the Chinese playerbase
Cold knowledge: The Great Firewall does not affect Chinese players to play games, and the most players of all mainstream games are almost Chinese, see where the most steam games are sold
This is so far from true mate. If its on steam, chances are its sold in on Steam China as well. So no, they have not failed to enter the market, they are taking advantage of the popularity in said market. This is also the second game developed by Chinese devs under the monster hunter brand. The first was Monster Hunter Online.
Outlanders was announced around Nov-Dev 2022, idk about Now but i think Outlanders was the earlier one but slow on development just like Undawn that released after 5 year development and made by same studio that made Outlanders.
Bruh I can't wait to pull for that 50/50 on the Rathian banner. Joking aside, usually prefer more smaller mission based gatcha games, so I'll probably be happy just with Wilds.
This looks really good. Much better than Monster Hunter Now. Now let's see how they monetize it. To be fair Genshin, ZZZ and so on have very fair monetization, so this might work. Could go the Diablo Immortal route or follow the more conservative Genshin approach, hoping for the later.
Given how previous generations of MH games were made for Nintendo handhelds. I think it would be REALLY awesome to get a remastered package of them for mobile play. Phones today are WAY more powerful than the 3DS was.
As an avid MH fan, this looks awesome. Guessing like most people have said, Genshin aspects possibly with combat similar to MH now. Cannot see a monster fight lasting for 50 mins on mobile. That would be just crazy.
I've been playing mh now religiously since it came out and I only VERY CASUALLY spend small money here and there due to amount of playtime I have in it but just takes patience to get into. I've never bought a single potion and farmed many events because if you play good there's no need for potions. I'd say hardest mh game to play due to how it operates and how much actual effort it takes to get high up min/max compared to sitting in a room clicking buttons all day lol. With no penalty mind you for the mainline games lmao. Meaning good or not you win like everyone else end of the day just by spending time on it with no real effort.
Cautiously optimistic, I've actually played some damn good mobile games, so I know they aren't all trash, but Tencent is my main concern here, as always when it comes to mobile games. I genuinely hope we get a game that's focused on fun and not just finance, but tell that to a monopoly like Tencent. Good luck with that.
Considering I've gotten myself hooked on Monster Hunter Puzzles just recently, what would one more MH mobile title hurt for my already exhausted free time 😅 I'm honestly all for it if things pan out well, mobile games are a tricky line to walk.
I'm sure that like most other high profile mobile games this will have very simple yet smooth combat, great visuals and mostly fun gameplay, yet be hampered by built in restrictions on progression designed to funnel players into the monetization systems. Genshin, Star Rail, ZZZ and Wuwa are all great fun until you hit the monetary wall, I expect this to be the same. If it gets a pc client I will try it. I've had great fun with other PC/Mobile games. The key is to know when to drop it as every system in the game is designed to incentivize the player to spend large amounts of money extremely quickly.
none of the games you mentioned have a paywall. There's plenty of mobile games that suck with mtx and are very predatory and actually lock you out of content or make your equipment worth nothing if you dont pay. Genshin, Star Rail and Wuwa are the exception You can do all content with whoever you want. The question is if people want to deal with the stamina systems/having to farm gear to reach good stats that a lot of these mobile games have. Though hopefully this doesn't have it

I only hope they will make it avaiable for pc as well.
