It was so cool talking to you yesterday! My son’s friend is in the reserve and was visiting from Colorado Springs. So naturally we had to take him over Travis for a tour. I think he enjoyed that more than the Bay Tour. Thanks for all the great work you and your fellow controllers do on 119.9 and 126.6 - I’ve been flying with you guys for 10 years now, since my training days - you guys are great!
Wow - that’s a heck of an airport for a long solo cross country. Mine was Modesto :) Placerville, one one end, looks like what I imagine Sedona would like like. I didn’t appreciate the drop-offs until I started editing the video.
@@mtyukin Yeah, I did KCCR > KMOD > KCCR for first solo cross-country. Then KCCR > KPVF > KSCK > KCCR for the solo long cross-country. Rancho Murieta began charging landing fees so my CFI and I decided to do KPVF instead. I would imagine KPVF is good visual training for Catalina!
My in laws live right on the water there, we had out wedding at thier house. 3 of our friends flew up, one of them is a pilot and rented a plane for them. He said that antenna @13:40 made him very nervous during landing.
I guess the Cali hat is an acquired taste yes?? JK, cool video. I fly out of Auburn and frequently visit Placerville.
I was the controller at Travis Approach that gave you a friendly hello! Thanks for flying with us

@@mtyukin Thank you! We always appreciate it when we get the opportunity to speak/work with experienced pilots like yourself. Always a pleasure.
would love to fly Truckee to Nevada County Airport :)
Placerville was my first stop on solo long cross-country. The drop offs at both ends of the runway and the upslope were striking visually.

Curious why you decided on runway 25 when winds were calm and 25 downslopes by 1.87%?
Same thought. Planning on a trip here tomorrow and plan to use 7 if wind is low or favoring 7.
Calm winds, flying a Skyhawk, and 4657 ft of runway….could have been 10% downslope and still be fine lol
Cool flight. Have you considered making a dusk flight?
