I had to come back and I feel like I’m in the front seat as I’d done flying between the mountains like you are doing is so much fun on a beautiful VFR day nd I would keep my eyes open for a field to landing incase of a engine failure and the best ones are the grain and wheat ones
I just found your channel, and I am impressed! Your story telling is very good. The production value is really good given the few cameras you are using.I would have thought you would have had thousands of subscribers, I was floored that you are sub 300. Just stick with it. You have a really chance of being successful. I hope our paths cross someday, I'd like to do a collaborative video sometime.
Thank you so much for your comment it means the world to me. I'm trying my best and saving up for a proper DSLR for my b-roll footage. Right now I use one GoPro Hero 10 and my Samsung S21 for b-roll. If you're ever in the Ukiah area let me know! 🙂
You should announce your position in and out of airports. At 1q5 you were right on the departure end with an aircraft taking off and you never had radio contact until you actually saw him taking off. Then you say you are going to do a low pass over the runway and then cut right under the aircraft that was on the downwind before you gave him a chance.
Yes, you are correct. I should have announced my position further out over the lake. The other aircraft also never made a radio call declaring that he was departing. When I saw the aircraft, I immediately entered a right turn per FAR 91.113 and attempted to establish successful communication. I then maintained visual contact and declared my intentions. I then preceded inbound while maintaining visual contact the entire time. There was no imminent threat of collision. I did not cut in front of him. I passed under him while remaining on his right side the entire time (91.113). The aircraft was also not on the downwind, as you state. If you listened closer, you would have heard him say he had no intention of remaining in the pattern immediately. He was departing the area. Things I should have done better. I should have announced on the radio further out from the field. I could have made a right-hand turn instead of a left turn when coming back inbound, but I would have lost visual with the aircraft if I would have done this.
Next time you go to Gravelly Valley do a landing, it's easy from either direction. That runway is 4,000 ft long and 250 ft wide. There is an interesting history as to why it is there going back to the 1940's when it was used by the Navy.
We actually did land on the field recently...it's in pretty rough condition but the RAF has plans on renovating it in the spring. The video with us landing will be out one day haha. Thank you for the comment! I will definitely look into the history more.
I enjoy slipping this plane so much on the base to final turn all the way down till I barely touch down. Unfortunately I don't think I got to really show that in the video this time. Maybe I'll make another video dedicated to slips in the future when the plane is out of annual!
Sir I am literally flying an airplane. If I don't look around I will die... I have purchased another camera so I can get a fixed point of view from now on to assist with the POV shot.
This brings back memories as if I’m in it again
Glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know if you're ever in Boonville, CA.
Let me know if you’re ever flying to the Northeast to Virginia
Amazing
Thank you so much!!!! More to come.

The PA-12 was great to fly with stick and rudder and directional controls and keeping my feet alive
My first aircraft I got my first time getting in the back seat learning how to takeoff and landing and I love it
Check out my latest video! I take this airplane up the coast!

The 115 Lycoming engine does well with myself and my passenger
This PA-12 has a Lycoming O-235 putting out 108 HP. I agree, it does very well.
Which engine? One of mine had O-235 and one had O-290D.
108 hp O-235 In this one 😃
@@Aviate68 thank you.
“Without a parachute” 🤣🤪
;)
Why the "without a parachute" comment? Most pilots don't wear a chute unless doing akro in a aerobatic aircraft.
It's a reference to Trevor....
Can i ask where this flight departed from? Just looking for simulation ideas!
This flight originated from KUKI. The route is this. KUKI 1O2 1Q5 KUKI
@@Aviate68 awesome many thanks!
@@79-airtime No problem!
Departure airport?
We departed from KUKI. Airport codes are in the timestamps in the description if you would like to follow along. 😃
What speed settings do you use on your GoPro's?
So far I use 4k 60fps when I can. I have a large SD card so space is not a concern. I have 3 external batteries that I switch along my flight.
@@Aviate68 Thanks for your help. I was using 24FPS, and was wondering why the was such clarity in your videos.
@@ravimohil8969 No problem! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Let me wheel land it on
Are you using a GoPro ? The picture is Clear as Glass
I use a GoPro Hero 10 Black on 4k 60 FPS Wide
Slip it in there the way I done it

Waaay too much "looking around." Creates a dizzying video.
