Hey @@MDFishTanks how are you hope all is well! I've always wondered do you ever think you will do an axolotl scape again I was thinking of your videos from when you first started and was wondering if you would give them a second chance, I know you're willing to give discus a second chance was just curious have a great week!
I have never disliked a single tank you have designed. You are one lucky man to have found your calling and also get to work in that field. Your channel is very inspiring 🤗 Thank you.
When I'm having a stressful day this is the channel I go to to relax 😊 I've had aquariums my whole life & moving from CA to TX caused me to pack that stuff away. This inspires me to get back to my hobby ❤
I used to have two tanks growing up. Now, I move every couple years or so due to work, so it's not practical to have a fish tank. I live vicariously through MD 😂
I've had fish tanks consistently since I was 13 years old. I'm 54 now. It's the only hobby that has stayed with me my entire life. I can't imagine not having an aquarium in my home.
@@sixt3denied Me too! I lose interest in hobbies very quickly. My father got me into aquariums at a young age and now I'm 23 & married. I haven't had an aquarium in about a year & I'm so excited to teach my husband how to setup/care for one 🤣
I’m in Canada and haven’t been able to find pond soil ANYWHERE! So I’ve used top soil in 6 new setups this year and it’s been brilliant, no water quality issues and the plants are exploding! What Ive done though is place a layer of filter floss above and below the soil layer so maybe that’s keeping it in place and with enough movement
Seachem fluorite, Fluval stratum and exoterra substratum both work and are available in Canada. Turface is a product that is also used as “pond soil” and is available in Canada. But just organic potting soil is what I’ve used and is great and cheaper.
You and fish shop Matt are my favorite utubers! I've tried other scapers channels but none compared. I go into withdrawal if I don't see at least one of you guys in a week. In that case I rewatch an older one. Thanks so much!
If you put that wood into some pond or a barrel for a few months (to year), you might be able to reuse it. It won't be leeching forever. AFAIK it's fine to use local wood, if you know what trees to avoid. I've seen pictures of tanks which used willow, with a risk of a tree growing out of a tank. 😀 Also great result as usual, MD!
Thanks for the videos. I love watching them. I have had aquariums most of my life. But about 18 months ago I decided to take on the challenge for live plants for the first time. I'm learning alot. And enjoying the failures along with my successes.
Thank you for holding the plant with name tag up to the camera. Very helpful, indeed. I so enjoy your videos. At the end, I slow it down muted to really appreciate each tank ... each work of art. ❤ from 100*F, south Texas, USA
What can I say MD once again you create a fabulous scape. You always do, and regarding the laughter of the tubes being placed in the wrong place what can I say we make mistakes even if your an expert in aquariums.
Love it when another video drops. Highlight of my day when I sit down to watch. Please please please, put clown loaches in that black water set up when you re do it. They will love the size of that tank. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants you to do clown loaches😀
Amazing new tank, love seeing the new builds and the existing tank updates dude. You've actually inspired me to put together my own fish tank, doing alot of research first (even though I know alot from watching so many of your videos haha) as better safe than sorry. 🙂
Can recommend getting a stop valve thingie for the return of these filters so it's easier to clean. I use one from all pond solutions that's exactly the same and thankfully I can just life the whole thing pipes and all to the sink but looks like it will be trickier with this set up. You can also fill the filter with water first so you won't need to start the siphon each time! Works well tho in my fancy goldfish cube!
Really love this tank! I'm working on a few escapes for some zebra acara and I believe they're called rainbow acara? Anyway I can't wait to get that set up done It's going to be so much fun!
Great job MD! I hope Aquafluer will consider coming to the USA. Can you do a tank set up with a similar company that provides set ups like this but ship internationally? The fish are growing really well and look amazing.
Love the channel and the different set ups! I've been binge watching as a way to relax and also excited to get back into this hobby because of you. I was curious why the tissue paper as a connection point to the rocks and wood? For more contact points?
Hey where cam we go to ask for advice. My 10gal ecosystem tank with ramshorn snails(9 plus new babies that are still specks) and 8 cherry shrimp. Keeps coming up high nitrates 40-80ppm and I do a 25-50% water change. I followed MD fish style with tank build. Lots of plants. A bit of land scape and proper substrate set up. A small Hob filter, and one bubbler. Temp about 73°F. Had metals and tds measured last Sunday all was awesome..then nitrates started skyrocketing. Since Sunday have done 4 partial water changes. Tank started 8/3/23.
I love the new setup. I can't stand the tinted water of brown/black water tanks, for the exact reason you mention - I want to be able to see the fish and plants - so I totally get why you don't like that effect. Love this new one, though. As for that wood that's leaching really badly. Find a place to put it submerged for a while, and it'll stop leaching like that. I do mostly very small nano tanks, so any wood I use gets boiled and soaked to get most of the tannins out before I scape with it. It's a beautiful piece, so I'd hate to see you toss it when it can be salvaged and used down the road.
Won't lie I actually liked the Blackwater tank new ones great as per usual upgrading my tank to a bigger one next week just deciding what scape I'm going for 😅
Another awesome build MD, I love the fish combo in the tank. it would be great to see what you could do with Saltwater tanks and the coral life. If that’s something that interests you?
I have had an aquarium for a few years with just gravel as a substrate and no plants, but I want to turn it into a heavily planted tank, do you recommend taking out the gravel and then adding soil and top that with gravel or sand, or just stick with the gravel and plant into it?
I was gona say there the wrong way round ;-) lol 😂 I use these filters but only as a pre filter and without the motor on it (just sponges) before it gos into my main external filter…witch is full of just media….👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻Steve tivvy
Cool !! Can’t wait until I’ll have my own fish room 😊 I’m watching you videos for quite long time and really enjoy yours projects. I’ve plenty of healthy Amazon Frogbit with really long roots, if you planing to do jungle style aquarium I’ll be happy to donate some of them 😁
The best way to get rid of excess tannins from large pieces of wood is to put them in a black trash can large enough to fit the lid back on, set it outside where it will get the most sunlight, fill it with water and let it cook for a week. I did this with a piece from my LFS that started leaching badly within a few minutes as well as floating. There were next to no tannins when it finally went in the aquarium, and it sat quite nicely on the sand. Make sure to let it fully cool overnight before putting it in the tank.
Loving the aquarium kit video's! How do you decide how to position the background plants? Can you alternate between species or is it better to plant in bunches of the same species?

Md fish tanks is the BEST UA-cam Chanel ever!
Beautiful tank MD! The fish look amazing in their new home. Thank you.
Thanks Md, you changed my whole view on fish tanks and i hope to upload my own videos soon. Without you, I would’ve never gotten into fish tanks.

I like how you set up the plants around the driftwood and behind it , another beautiful set up great job.

The keyhole cichlids are very beautiful - cichlids are fun to watch. Nice mix of tetras with them too.

Lost my two Flag Acara when I changed scape 😢 hard to get hold of around my way and am gutted! Lovely fish
Love the new tank! What's the plan for the black water tank? Hope you do another black water with different wood it looked great in the beginning!
Seems to be very thick and good quality glass on that particular superfish scaper tank.
Those little sun sun filters are such good value for money. Painful to prime and a bit underpowered but great for nano tanks
Very beautiful scape😀. However... That time of the month has come. The Tour is awaiting!
nice tank! the tetras almost looked like they were stained yellow. how interesting! camouflage? the food they eat that has absorbed tannins?

What kind of fish is it stuck to the glass at 28:44 ?
Maybe hillstream loach
Ottocinclus
Beautiful tank and stand! Can you tell me what kind of plywood/thickness it is made of? Greetings
Haha. I’ve only got one chance to do it first time!!!!!! Classic 😂

how do you know or decide what can be glued to structure or planted?
What are some of the best stem plants to use for background plants?
Stunning 💯❤️❤️🤙🏼
Update on vase tank please 🙏 ❤
Loving the aquarium kit video's! How do you decide how to position the background plants? Can you alternate between species or is it better to plant in bunches of the same species?
so beauty!
