Seeing this, hearing the music and the 'plops' as you place things. Brings back memories, so many fucking memories, thank you dear sir for letting me relive these memories.
I'm playing this game now in 2023! Since the game does not run on Windows 7 or later, I run it on Windows XP in a virtual machine. This game was released 10 years before I was born, but it's still fun enough today. The game was difficult at first because of the small and simple game UI, which resulted in a lot of wasted money and failed farming. Fortunately, I now understand the game and now I run a strawberry farm and a sheep farm.
Played this game when I was a little kid in Taiwan. It brings back so much memories. In Chinese it was called 模擬農場 (Mou Ni Nong Chang). I can still remember getting the plane but it never worked. I can remember getting some vehicle to run over the animals and they'd go flat, which I found funny.
I never played it back in the day, but I do remember some of my friends at grade school would play it at the computer lab during free time. This video helped me learn the basics on how to play this game. I'm enjoying it on my Windows 98 virtual machine now.
I wasn't even born when this came out (1995) but I remember it was a child, my older sisters played it. I definitely wanna play myself! I've been in a retro game kick lately playing Sims 1.
Ugh I so miss this game. I never understand how to actually play, so I would just start one of the pre built farms and sell everything so I had a bunch of cash. I would then build my own little farm. I didn’t even know how to keep the water troughs full, so I would just move the empties to the edge of my farm haha. Eventually it would fill up with unnecessary empty water troughs. I just have to laugh at how silly I was not knowing.
Spoiler alert. Some hints and cheats from my many hours playing this game in the past: Import the orange crop. Keep animals inside the barn fencing it (no food/water needed). Use water channels instead of fences to enclose animals (they can't be breached;). You can also try for fun: buy and sell land several times, you'll immediately profit, but at the end of the year the taxes will come and likely bankrupcy XD
It's indeed the first non fantasy farm manager game and at my knowledge the most complete! Even going further in the subject than the modern Farm Simulator game as in Sim Farm you must manage a schedule that will be optimal for your plant properly all by expecting the probability on how climate and social event (pollution) may affect your production and lifestyle of your animals. Animals that can also participate in beauty contest like in real life! Game made by the same authors than SimCity!
I tried playing it when I was 6 or 7. I didn't really know what I was doing, and I *really* didn't know what I was doing with the crop dusting plane. All it did was fly in circles around the map until it ran out of fuel, and crashed.
Hi, i didn't played SimTractor yet, however, it's not from Maxis so i don't think it's similar! And mostly when i see preview, i think that in SimTractor is more a mechanical farming driving game than a Farm simulation.
Oh, you mean the car through the city coming to the farm? Well with a road when by example i'm missing some pesticide, it goes faster to have my "farming" necessary because our vehicul using the street to go to buy it.
hello sir, can you help me, please? i cannot play the game more then a half year because it says, that i have to pay the taxes. then can you tell me where or how can i do it? it would be a great help (=
Reduce the size of your farm by selling part, so then the tax gonna be lower, so you gonna have enoygh fund to pay your taxes (payment made automatically).... And be sure to made as first recolts something who's recolting fast! So you gonna be able to expand fast without going in bankruptcy. And depending which land you play you can change the crop to have something more compatible with your land.
when this video was made, SimFarm was 15 years old .. now the video is 15 years old. Time is relentless

Ugh I so miss this game. I never understand how to actually play, so I would just start one of the pre built farms and sell everything so I had a bunch of cash. I would then build my own little farm. Damn, I remember playing this as a kid in the early 90s, but the game made use of the PCs built-in speaker.

The port to Windows is 1995, when it just say that, it mean that the game copyright was made in 1993.
