I bought my Dyson V11 five years ago and it is still going strong. I would recommend this vacuum cleaner to anyone, but specially for people who have ADHD/ADD and I would advise them to hang the vacuum cleaner in the kitchen in plain sight. It is the only vacuum cleaner I have ever used consistently, because it is so easy to grab and use it. It is also absolutely gratifying when you are done vacuming how much debris this vacuum picks up. And the fact that you can empty the canister relatively far away from your face and you don't have to get your hands dirty, is a huuuuuuge plus for me. I do like the led feature on the newer models. So I will try and get that Dyson fluffy optic brush and try to use it on my V11. I haven't felt any issues with the battery (knock on wood) and I hope it will continue to function for another 5 years ... at least. For people who have pets : Recently my 2 cats got fleas, no idea where they came from as my cats don't go outside. Anyway, to get rid of the fleas in the house I had to vacuum my house EVERY day for a month. (besides treating the cats with pills, pipets on their fur, weekly bedding washing and combing the cats every 2 hours to remove the fleas from them, putting down fleas traps with lights at night and regularly spraying anti flea product throughout the house) I would never had the courage to vacuum every day if I hadn't had the V11. Tip : instead of emptying the dust in the dustbin, I emptied it in my toilet and flushed it away. As I did this every day the dust was limited and the way my plumbing is done, it is not a problem. But I definitely wanted to drown the potential fleas that were in there and not giving them the opportunity to jump out of my dustbin. This was the only time I really used the boost mode on the V11 as the fleas freaked me out.
I don’t see how the V15 powered tools wouldn’t be compatible with the V11 since they both run at the same voltage. I literally bought a V15 torque head and laser fluffy for my V11 and it works perfectly fine. I don’t know if the Gen5 has different keyed connectors but that machine runs at a much higher voltage which is why you can’t interchange chargers. It’s also a bad idea to put Gen5 powered tools on the V11 since there is also a voltage discrepancy.
the amp draw might be different enough to cause permanent damage in the long term to the internal circuit boards. I received a Dyson V11 torque drive head for my V11 outsize's warranty claim on a broken outsize torque drive head. For a few months, the smaller torque drive head worked fine, until one day the brush head's motor just stopped working. I later tried to use that V11 head to a regular V11 vacuum, but it made no difference (so the motor is clearly overamped).
@@gordonq007 doubt it. The labels show the same wattage and voltage. Most likely a manufacturing defect. With multiple components on the torque head control board, the odds of enough failures is not zero.
@@battery_wattage I recently got a V11 and was considering buying a Fluffy Head, didn't know the V15 laser one worked on the V11. Have you had any issues long term using the V15 laser fluffy head on your V11?
@@HaroldsMind it has worked very well. It does have normal wear in the bottom brushes (which did not affect its performance at all so far), and hair gets accumulated in the edge of the rollers (which is easily removable), but other than that, no problems. I only recommend getting it if you have at least 50% hard floor coverage. It is so much lighter than the torque head and requires less effort to move, it’s very quiet, even though the normal hard floor pick up is the same as the torque it removes fine dust so much better, it outperforms any disposable Swiffer styled sweeper without being disposable, and it fits in tight spaces better.
@battery_wattage Great to hear it's worked out good without any issues aside from normal wear and tear. My home is all hardwood, and tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, so I'll definitely be getting the Fluffy Laser Head to use on my V11. Appreciate the feedback on it!
yeah personally i find the LCD display to ve very helpful if you actually vacuum a lot, cuz you can easily tell the battery level and keep the battery between 20% to 80% for optimal battery life span.
Thanks for the review. I still think Dyson should just stick the laser light onto the Torque Drive and be done with the switchable Torque/Fluffy heads and bring down the price.
The V11 Outsize + came with the fluffy laser roller, so it definitely was designed to work with the V11s (I know because I own this version). The real reason Dyson claims that it isn't "compatible" with the V11 series is simply to try to force people to pay more $$$ for the higher end models.
I bought a refurbished Dyson over 4 years ago, battery and everything has been fine. Only had to buy filters. Don’t wash them, just vacuum them with your old floor bagged vacuums hose attachment, if you still have one.
we bought v11 absolte 2022 in november and nsgxon we are satisfied with it. The v15, Gen 5 does not offer as many new features as the surcharge, the eco and the medium in both cases have the same heart, only the boost changes. The 200m² house can be easily vacuumed with it and there is still some operating time left.
My old v11 is doing just fine. Had to replace the plastic trigger with a 3rd party metal trigger though. Works better than it was new. Can get cheaper 3rd party filers too. Still a pain to empty without a balancing act with the lower half. Hope all is well
I had to replace my trigger too. That seemed to be a common construction flaw with the V11 that the trigger was a flimsy piece of plastic that broke after time.
This V11 is a weird middle child. The V12 Slim is cheaper, lighter, and it comes with the fluffy head with the laser. The V15 Detect isn't that much more. The V11 is either waiting for big discounts or it's the stripped out base V15-like vacuum to push you towards the V15.

Any thoughts on the plastic trigger mechanism.? I have a 4 year old V10 and the plastic trigger has collapsed. I know there are metal triggers available as an "add on", but it's a tricky job to replace. That's why I am considering a V11 replacement. 🤔
I have the V11 Torque, and by far the best vac I ever owned corded or cordless, but there is a limitation. Whether you open the channels (no longer avail in V11s) on the head or not, it’s excellent at dust, dust balls and hair, but it won’t pick up anything as small as a paper staple. Also re accessories, Dyson does 2 things that work in theirs not your favor. 1. You get all the accessories on each purchase without the option of opting out to save money, so after several vacs you wind up with a closet of compatible unused accessories within the same model family. ie V11 to V11. 2. Accessories are not compatible between generations. ie a V6 crevice tool is not compatible with a V8 and a V8 is not compatible with a V11. They won’t even fit in the head connector.
Could you tell me what voltage it says on the charger? I want to get one and will bring it to Argentina, so I need to know if it’s multi voltage or just 110v. Thanks!
I wonder how is it possible that in your past test of Dyson v11 it scored 100% in deep cleaning, and now with the new V11, which has greater airflow, it scores only 94%?
i wish you paid more attention to the cyclone separator (if present) in your reviews. it makes so much difference if you're keeping a vacuum more than like 3 months or so, which i imagine is almost everyone.

Finally, the V12 version is lighter, but it's also a bit weak. All that said, if my Dyson broke tomorrow, I'd still get another one. They are way more convenient than corded.
the weakest point of the v11 that no one seems to talk about is the awful wall dock. it feels like cheap plastic and the included wall mount hardware loosens after a few months and won't hold the vacuum firmly on the wall anymore.
